ROSARIO S. CASSATA AND CAROLYN AT THE GANSEVOORT ROOFTOP RESTAURANT IN THE MEATPACKING DISTRICT OF NYC.

Situated within the Gansevoort Hotel, the Gansevoort Rooftop stands as one of the most iconic rooftop bars and restaurants in New York City. The restaurant is relatively small but offers ample seating along with both indoor and outdoor dining options. Additionally, there is a rooftop pool. You can savor a delightful meal while taking in the stunning views of the city. We relished some exquisite sushi rolls. The service and the beverages were both exceptional.

Rooftop bar of the Gansevoort Hotel in Meatpacking. Great view, cool vibes, close to the pool, but uber hot and sun was all in the eyes for the seated section of a dinner spot. Could've used better shading at 5p on a sunny day, hard to see during the dinner depending on where you were seated. Live music that day which made it a bit harder to hear the conversations. Fruity drinks, and some drinks were out of stock on the menu, forced the guys to change things up. Water provided had stuff in it (not sure what, but they changed out all the glasses for us). Sushi was ok, the oysters a bit on the small side (East Coast?), with no cocktail sauce. Burrata on toast was good, though. Service was good, generally - small area for the server so she came back to us relatively frequently. Busy, too - we were lucky that we came early and could get a seat - later it was busy and no spare seats to be seen (folks waiting). Elevator is keyed by the doorman (since it's also a hotel).

My partner got a dish with Parmesan cheese back in June here. The cheese was virtually tasteless. He wondered why it had no Parmesan cheese taste at all and kept adding more, in vain. Now it's September. He's been EXTREMELY sick, even missing days of work. He was eventually diagnosed with Norovirus. It recurred in early August. Nightmare, round two. We have gone over this again and again...and this is the only meal that was out of the ordinary for us during the week. Gratefully, his nephew and I did not get a pasta dish. At first, we thought, how could someone get Norovirus from pasta with Parmesan cheese? Then I did some Googling. This is exactly what he experienced after having the pasta dish here! The symptoms line up. Also, he booked dinner here for my birthday on June 12 a couple weeks before we came with his nephew and we were told they weren't serving dinner any longer at that hour (we had seen a show before) but that we could have drinks. Who accepts a review on OpenTable for only drinks? It really was a thud moment on my birthday. Another stumble by this establishment. We ended up going around the street to Meduza, who saved the day with lovely ambiance, great service and a top notch dining experience. Should we ever return to the Gansevoort Rooftop, I assure you it will only be for drinks.

I would absolutely not recommend hosting a party here or honestly giving them any business. My friends and I reserved the space for 200 people and they refused to let most people up, even though it wasn't very crowded. This was the coldest night of the year (feels like -16 degrees) and they asked people to go to the outdoor heated roof area to make room to let people up. What establishment in good faith will make people go outside in that weather? There was literally an extreme cold warning in effect. Additionally, every person we spoke to was extremely rude and condescending. As a group of young women we were made to feel extremely uncomfortable. I really would not recommend this place. And for context - Chris (our main point of contact) texted us "We have free Coat check for everyone tonight and we will not be holding anyone online. We will let folks in right away." Here is a picture of the line downstairs where they refused to let anyone up and also made people stand outside in the freezing cold. I'm really not one to write reviews but this was absolutely ridiculous.

Asma took care of us tonight and she was INCREDIBLE! My fiance and I celebrated my 31st birthday and the food, drinks and atmosphere were nothing short of spectacular. Asma was so sweet, attentive, and efficient! Best dining experience in a long time, will definitely be coming back.

A slice of Heaven at the Gansevoort Hotel Rooftop bar & pool. Comfortable seating & beautiful views. Pool service was a little slow but overall my experience was delightful.

My girl friend and I wanted to stop by a hotel lounge/bar before heading out to our typical spot on a Friday night. Glad we stopped by to check out what the Gansevoort has been up to. There's a little coffee/cocktail waiting area in the lobby when you first walk in. We headed to the roof to grab a cocktail and decided to stay inside. The view is great if you choose to sit outside. The sitting area inside is pretty small with two large tables, back wall sofa seating, bar seating, and small tables for two people. Our service was excellent! He was so funny and kind. Our hipsters was very nice too. My friend got an espresso martini and she loved it. I got the sex & flowers cocktail and it's so sweet and tasty. I'm the type of person who loves fruity cocktails and juice. So I recommend that if you also love juice and fruit flavors. The cocktail was very beautiful and bubbly. Both of our drinks were strong.

My husband hosted my 30th birthday party at the Gansevoort Rooftop and it was amazing. The service was quick, the staff were friendly, and they made sure that my night was perfect. I want to give a special shoutout to Lauren, who truly went above and beyond to make sure that the event ran smoothly! The drinks were delicious, and while we did not eat the evening of my party, every time I've ever dined at the rooftop its been delicious (shoutout to chef!) Would highly recommend Gansevoort Rooftop and I look forward to coming back again to wine & dine!

Previously known as the gansevoort rooftop??Came here for drinks after buddakan dinner. Love the ambiance, not too crowded. Drinks were good and service was great. Been here several years ago but definitely not as packed as I remember. Still great views for this area. Might come back. No lines for Saturday night. Trust.

So here's the deal the views are great and second to none the service is.. well... none. The waitress took forever to come back each time it felt like a decade just to get a glass of water. She was sweet but tried to scam us (I was with my financial/wall street friends) so there was no scamming possible for us! She tried to tell us a big bottle of rose would be cheaper than two small ones. We insisted we wanted the two instead and she kept bringing the large bottle....acting like it was our fault not being clear what we wanted. Disappointing to say the least- a very drawn out afternoon....

I played there twice, once for a charity event supporting education, health, and community causes, and later opening for Vikas Sapra. Across my DJ years, I was fortunate to play 6 nights at Tao Group venues, including PHD, Avenue, Vandal, and Marquee, 4 of them tied to charitable events. I wasn't skilled or recognizable enough at the time to be booked for prime for-profit nights, so those opportunities meant a lot to me and gave me a window into how professionally Tao ran its venues. PHD had the added advantage of that spectacular rooftop setting, where sunset over New York can naturally turn into a proper nightclub a few hours later. Later, Vikas asked me to open for him on a Thursday, which genuinely meant something to me because I considered him one of the finest DJs working in New York. His depth and breadth of musical knowledge are elite even by global standards; he is an excellent turntablist, and he could move across genres and eras without making the transitions feel forced. He was also among the most polished and professional operators I observed in nightlife, a seriously talented guy who never seemed interested in announcing how talented he was because the work made the case. Unfortunately, it snowed that night, and I eventually handed him an ice cold, nearly empty room that never really got going; I left disappointed and embarrassed, but c'est la vie. Inside the booth, everything still reflected why PHD and Tao Group operate at such a high level. The sound engineer was incredibly cool, the DJ setup was thoughtfully configured, and the lighting behind the booth gave the room real visual energy without interfering with the work of playing. I was probably a little in over my head getting opportunities like that, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, and I'm grateful I took mine. PHD remains a terrific New York rooftop and one of those places where the setting, production, and people behind the scenes all make the experience feel considerably more professional than the average nightclub.

We got there shortly after they opened (4 pm), so it wasn't busy. On your way to the rooftop you'll pass through a nightclub, which reminded me of a discotheque reminiscent of Studio 54. According to my friend, it doesn't get hopping until later and good times are had. There is a jacuzzi inside, so I can only imagine the wild antics that occur. I would have absolutely been a regular here back in the day. The Rooftop is spacious with plenty of places to chill & relax. I ordered a Cucumber Limonade $16 (Vodka, Cucumber, Lime, & Elderflower). It was crisp & refreshing. Perfect for this beautiful sunny day. My friend was right. The view was stunning - with sweeping views of the city and the harbor. To make things more confusing, they came back later and said we could order alcohol after all, but by that point, the mood was already off and we decided to leave. The place didn't seem bad overall, but that experience definitely left a sour taste. Maybe we just caught them on a weird night. Wouldn't recommend especially being in the wine country.

However, they recently revamped the space, updating the decor to ensure that the W Hotel remains at the forefront of modernity. The small, linear bar was moved from one side of the room into the center and was now a larger, semi-circle to make it easier to converse with neighboring imbibers. The space maintained its lounge feel, with couches and comfortable chairs scattered around the bar. A main change was that, instead of the Living Room being visible to anyone that walked into the hotel lobby, it was now hidden behind a translucent wall of lights, only visible to those that entered. That change enabled the bar to be more exclusive, or "discreet", as we heard someone mention at the bar, haha. The place was reasonably crowded on the Friday evening, and we grabbed seats at the bar in order to be more social. To that end, we had some interesting conversations with both locals and hotel guest. Also, our bartender, Jose, was excellent! He was engaging to speak with and also crafted fantastic cocktails. The Espresso Martini he made for me had a very robust coffee flavor and just the perfect hint of sweetness; it was definitely up there on my list of top espresso cocktails. The bar had a list of really creative and unique drinks, and I had initially wanted to try the Kyoto Bridge with Haku vodka, sake, ceremonial matcha, and yuzu, but Jose had told me that he did not have the necessary sake for it. However, he assembled my martini with such perfection that I did not mind having a more basic drink on that visit; I could always go back to try the Kyoto Bridge and certainly will after such an enjoyable experience!
