Bar seating area. This was at 4:30pm on a Saturday. Bet it will be packed later!

Great bar in meatpacking district...great vibe, music and service. The kind of bar you want to drop in for a drink with friends and good conversation!

Food and Drinks (3/5): The lychee and pear mocktail I got was quite good. The food offered was decent but not the best. The wings, sliders, tacos, and quesadillas were ok but some were a bit dry and not the highest quality. Service (5/5): Friendly and helpful service where the servers checked up on us frequently and were great. Someone or one of the staff accidentally took away my drink even though it was mostly full and they replaced it with no issue. Ambiance (5/5) Nice place with beautiful entrance and good amount of space. I came here for a company event and we had an area reserved. Interestingly it seemed like we were the only ones in the venue even though the other half of the place could've been available for others.

Such a fun atmosphere!! We sat outside and got drinks in the evening as the sun went down. You can hear the music from inside; this place is so fun. Inside there are tables and standing room with a big screen and lots of people watching March madness. This is also a great place to dance! The service outside was a little slow, but they were pretty busy so it made sense. The drink deals are pretty good - we got a 32 oz shared jar aperol spritz ($50) which was a good amount for 3 people and cheaper than each getting our own. They have good happy hour deals Mon-Thurs. The chips and guac were good too! It was the atmosphere that made this place for me though.

Why are they 3 star on yelp? The best happy hour in meat packing district! Half off appetizer and $6 draft beer! Also the manager ? Or the serving guy was very polite and friendly. Will definitely be back!

They had long drink which I was happy about. They need to get the cranberry one. We didn't get food. The service was good. It wasn't that busy for a Thursday night which was surprising. The bathrooms were filthy. I would go back and try some food as well.

We found common ground with the staff who were all down to earth and friendly while providing excellent service. We ordered the popular shareable with 3 items including the guacamole, quesadilla and hamburger sliders. Compared to other bars, the portion size was quite generous. Happy drinks were a good deal as the drinks kept flowing starting with a glass of rose, beer; followed by a margarita, mixed cocktail and topped off with a pink gin spritz. We enjoyed sitting outside as the weather was beautiful that day and just watched the open tennis tournament as we had a leisurely meal outdoors. Come find common ground and enjoy the low key unpretentious dining experience with excellent food and service in the heart of Chelsea!

My friend and I came here for a much needed, fun girls night out. I suggest to make reservations, which we did, because this place gets packed. The tables are socially distanced and everyone wore their mask except this one waitress who thankfully wasn't mine. The music was pumping and the service was great. Loved the atmosphere. I do have to say that the clientele was a bit on the younger college age side so my friend and I did feel a little old. We ordered the 64oz margarita. It was really good and a lot of alcohol. We added on casamigos tequila, which we didn't regret. Food wise, we both got tacos. Mine were chicken and hers were veggie. The food was just ok. This place in future will be more for after dinner for me. I love how they have food and drink options for 2+ people. Definitely looked like a great deal. The inside is beautiful and looks very clubby. I like how they kept the doors open, so those indoor dining were semi outdoors. Come here for great drinks and music

Common Ground is my go to spot in the Meatpacking district for amazing cocktails, delicious food, and attentive and friendly service. If you're looking for a great happy hour or late night spot, this is your place!

this part in the becoming one of my very very favorites in all of Manhattan! They usually have great events on the calendar if you want to plan ahead. I recommend showing up randomly and seeing what you get yourself into. haha. you are bound to have fun at common grounds! Walking in, feels like you're walking into a fairytale or some thing... then, when it opens up, it is perfectly lit, plenty of staff and servers, and you can usually work out a getting a seat or table somehow... some nights are at capacity (it's nyc meatpacking dist.) and very packed. if you are looking for a bar a little more on the quiet/dead end, this will not be your thing... wish they had more than two bathrooms though...

I played there twice, once for a charity event supporting education, health, and community causes, and later opening for Vikas Sapra. Across my DJ years, I was fortunate to play 6 nights at Tao Group venues, including PHD, Avenue, Vandal, and Marquee, 4 of them tied to charitable events. I wasn't skilled or recognizable enough at the time to be booked for prime for-profit nights, so those opportunities meant a lot to me and gave me a window into how professionally Tao ran its venues. PHD had the added advantage of that spectacular rooftop setting, where sunset over New York can naturally turn into a proper nightclub a few hours later. Later, Vikas asked me to open for him on a Thursday, which genuinely meant something to me because I considered him one of the finest DJs working in New York. His depth and breadth of musical knowledge are elite even by global standards; he is an excellent turntablist, and he could move across genres and eras without making the transitions feel forced. He was also among the most polished and professional operators I observed in nightlife, a seriously talented guy who never seemed interested in announcing how talented he was because the work made the case. Unfortunately, it snowed that night, and I eventually handed him an ice cold, nearly empty room that never really got going; I left disappointed and embarrassed, but c'est la vie. Inside the booth, everything still reflected why PHD and Tao Group operate at such a high level. The sound engineer was incredibly cool, the DJ setup was thoughtfully configured, and the lighting behind the booth gave the room real visual energy without interfering with the work of playing. I was probably a little in over my head getting opportunities like that, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, and I'm grateful I took mine. PHD remains a terrific New York rooftop and one of those places where the setting, production, and people behind the scenes all make the experience feel considerably more professional than the average nightclub.

To make things more confusing, they came back later and said we could order alcohol after all, but by that point, the mood was already off and we decided to leave. However, they recently revamped the space, updating the decor to ensure that the W Hotel remains at the forefront of modernity. The small, linear bar was moved from one side of the room into the center and was now a larger, semi-circle to make it easier to converse with neighboring imbibers. The space maintained its lounge feel, with couches and comfortable chairs scattered around the bar. A main change was that, instead of the Living Room being visible to anyone that walked into the hotel lobby, it was now hidden behind a translucent wall of lights, only visible to those that entered. That change enabled the bar to be more exclusive, or "discreet", as we heard someone mention at the bar, haha. The place was reasonably crowded on the Friday evening, and we grabbed seats at the bar in order to be more social. To that end, we had some interesting conversations with both locals and hotel guest. Also, our bartender, Jose, was excellent! He was engaging to speak with and also crafted fantastic cocktails. The Espresso Martini he made for me had a very robust coffee flavor and just the perfect hint of sweetness; it was definitely up there on my list of top espresso cocktails. The bar had a list of really creative and unique drinks, and I had initially wanted to try the Kyoto Bridge with Haku vodka, sake, ceremonial matcha, and yuzu, but Jose had told me that he did not have the necessary sake for it. However, he assembled my martini with such perfection that I did not mind having a more basic drink on that visit; I could always go back to try the Kyoto Bridge and certainly will after such an enjoyable experience!
