I'm glad I had an appointment because it was fairly crowded. They took me in right away to get washed. The washing stations have long, flat massage chairs that you can lie down on, which I thought was nice. I have long, thick, curly hair, and it takes my regular stylist about 45-60 minutes to blow out my hair. I was in and out of this place in about a half hour and they only charged me $20. I would highly recommend Kelly's if you're looking for a quick, nice blowout for a night out. I got a very basic style, but the women in the chairs next to me got flippy, flowy blowouts that looked great and didn't take long. Based on the other reviews alone, I wouldn't recommend going their for any other professional services like cut/color, up-dos, or gel/acrylic manicures (You get what you pay for, folks). It's more of an in-and-out, last minute type place.

She was busy and overbooked and I did not kick up a fuss. I waited and waited, and then I allowed someone else to do my hair. He does an ok job and I don't complain because I know what I'm signing up for with these blowouts. ANYWAY, the hairdresser asked Kelly (not in English but I know what he's asking) how much to charge me. He looks surprised but then writes down 45 dollars on the receipt. I said, "oh wow I have never paid this much before." She said that's how much it is because he used the iron. I said they often use the iron on my hair here and I have never ever paid that much. If prices went up, that's fine, but don't pretend that's always been the price and that we have never met! So insane. She insists that has always been the price. Ummm, no it has not. I always tipped generously and was a good customer but I'm done. Amy is a doll and the lady that always washes my hair is a sweetheart, but Kelly is.... something else. Also, Kelly, put up a price board. And if you are going to charge these prices maybe sweep up your salon and get a cappuccino machine. If you are going to charge upscale prices, then present an upscale salon.

I haven't been back till October 22 nd because I had a special event on October 23rd and couldn't wait for an appointment with the woman who I usually go to. It was on the PRICEY END OF MY BUDGET BUT THEY DID A GREAT JOB but everything is SO DARN EXPENSIVE THAT I AM UNDECIDED IF I WILL RETURN AGAIN. I give it all high marks for the services, atmosphere and quality. I believe that the prices in Most salons are very high end but one needs to understand that this is 2025 and EVERYTHING IS WAY HIGHER IN PRICE ESPECIALLY IN NEW YORK CITY. You can go cheaper when you are just looking for a mediocre job but you get what you pay for and my hair is my shining star so I will have to pay for excellence. For the haircut and dying my roots with a blowout came out to about $200 dollars plus tips. If I was to have my entire head also highlighted could easily cost me $200 bucks more. Can I/ will I spend $400.00 every 3-4 months and approximately 200 dollars every 6-8 weeks for maintenance? I don't know but they do a very good job so I will have to see my financial situation at the time.

They also specialize in cutting curly hair which not many hair stylists/salons know how to cut and style properly. My previous hairdresser always got the outside layer longer than the inside to cover my curl hairs. However, most ordinary hairdresser only know the opposite because it works better for soft and thin hairs. The owner belongs to the latter ones. After several people noticed my mother's hair, my mother also noticed so many demarcations in every section. The colorist also left out so many sections of outgrown greys, etc. My mother went out of her way to show the manager/owner that she's unhappy and upset. $400+ and the work was absolutely horrendous. The owner was not only rude to my mom but she also behaved unprofessionally as a business owner. She kept interrupting my mom non-stop and called her a liar. Not to mention my mother is a professional hair colorist and knows how the job should've been done. She also showed inspo photos to the stylist on the day of her appointment, obviously the girl took the easy route. Long story short, she told my mother to leave and to never come back. No client should leave the salon in tears. My mother is not the type to cause a scene or put down the colorist in front of the owner, she just wanted to be heard. My mother was asking for the coloration difference not the full refund and her request was still denied. This place may be super busy, but don't know how to treat their clients with respect.
