horrible service by GDS,made an appointment, they came by home, technician did not wait for anyone to answer the door, he placed a yellow we miss you door note, wife open the door, technician saw wife, came back to place another yellow we miss you note, horrible service, call them back and all they keep saying was we dont have you on record for appointment do you want to reschedule, super horrible services, recommend to look for someone else for services. read more

We built a new house 10 years ago, and Garage Door Services (GDS) did the new construction install. Last week, the 10-year old spring broke right in the middle and the door would not open. As we have with other systems that need preventive maintenance or repair, my first call is to the people who installed it initially -- we figure they know more about it than anyone else, and will likely have any required repair parts. GDS was very responsive; had someone out the next business day. Because I installed insulation on the door as a subsequent DIY project, the technician recommended a stronger replacement spring, which he did not have on the truck. BTW, the broken spring also detached the cables and damaged a section of the door frame. The technician said the cables were fine, and he could replace just that small section of the frame that was damaged and I could still use the old door. That was great news, as I was mentally prepared for a much more extensive job. He said he would be back the next day with the new stronger spring. Problem was, we keep our trash cans in the garage and the next day was trash day. The technician actually helped me carry our trash cans through the house and out the front door -- definitely not in his job description, but much appreciated! When he returned the next day with the new spring, it was a super-quick job, and he also replaced the damaged frame piece with an identical OEM frame member. The door frame looks like nothing ever happened to it. And, the price was more than fair. We are very satisfied with the service we received from GDS. Great experience. read more

The Ladies in the office you speak to are SHADY, they don't tell you about all the pricing and charge for services not rendered. None of them are on the same page with how they conduct business. I was told they would replace the middle spline for 175, after setting up and appt. guy shows up has no parts and tells me he can't do it that day, was here for 10-15 minutes...175$. When I called in to ask why I was being charged Jackie told me that I would be refunded and that didn't happen and then the story changed to I would only be charged $200 (should have been 150) after the number 2 panel was replaced even though it was supposed to be $325 for that panel. They charged me the $325 anyways on top of the $175. I cannot wrap my head around why this company thinks it's OK to charge for services that didn't happen!?!?!? If you decide to call and get Becky ask to speak to someone else and make sure they break everything down so you don't get BS surprises $$$ after the fact because that's the SHADY business they're in. I have email traffic backing all this up and got hung up on, real professional people. I would NOT recommend this company. read more

This company has multiple locations. We worked with the one in San Antonio. We recently had a house built and the builder contracted with Garage Door Services to install the automatic one and two-car garage doors. When GDS completed their installation, I noticed that the two-car garage door was buckled as the motor and brackets were pressing it down too far. It needed to be adjusted. We contacted the builder and requested they send someone out to resolve. The builder contacted Garage Door Services and arranged for someone to come out. A week later, we followed up and were told someone had been to the property and fixed the issue. However, the problem remained. A week later, we followed up again and got the same response. The company claimed they had now sent someone out twice, but we never saw anyone and by this time we were moved into the house. I contacted the company myself to arrange for a tech to come on site. I was told that I had to go through the builder. I again contacted builder and someone from GDS called me and arranged for a tech to come on site. The tech never showed up. I contacted the company and they said that a technician had already been on site twice and they didn't understand what more they could do. I explained that the problem still had not been resolved and would like someone to come out and fix it. The woman (Michelle) stated she would have to see if someone was available and that she would call me back. She never called me back. Following the manufacturer's instructions, I adjusted the door on my own as best I could to prevent the buckling, but it now does not seal properly at the bottom and would need a thicker seal installed to prevent air, water, and pests from coming in. Very disappointing that I cannot get the company to stand behind its warranty and come out and fix the problem. I've notified the builder again and they will follow up...again. I've worked with other garage door repair/replacement companies in the area and have had very good results and great service. I might review them in another article. There are too many other good companies out there to waste your time and money with Garage Door Services. My recommendation is to avoid them! read more

This company knowingly installed a garage door opener without a place to correctly anchor it. When it began pulling out of the wall and vibrating the length of the device (creating a dangerous situation) they requested pictures (to see if they needed to charge us). The opener was still under warranty. The manager took one look at the pictutes and knew the problem was that the opener was attached to drywall and not a stud. They tried to put us off for over a week to even come out and secure it until we could get permenant wood under the sheet rock. After making a formal complaint to our builder they finally came out took it down so wood could be installed and then came back and reinstalled the garage door opener before the original date they pushed us off to. If you have used this company check your install and if you are looking for a company find someone else. read more

Fixed broken spring in June 2013. Spring broke again in April 2014. Called company to fix again. Told work is not under warranty and full price will be charged for work. Lame. BTW, average lifespan for a garage door spring is 10-15 years...their spring, 10 months. read more
