My husband and I stopped to split two tacos. We ordered the Yum Yum shrimp tacos that was on the chalkboard menu in front of the ordering window. when my husband picked it up I noticed there was something yellow inside that looked like mango. I am highly allergic to mango. My husband agreed to eat his taco and I took my taco back to the Garbo ordering window. They were reluctant to make me something else and told me that the sign on the counter off to the right of the ordering window says if u have any allergic reaction to Let them . How would I know if the yum yum shrimp had Mango as the chalkboard that has the menu doesn't say there's also mango inside... it's labeled Yum Yum shrimp tacos. They were not very considerate or caring and so I gave the woman the one taco right back. I guess they don't care about customer service...like they really lost money.! Beware! read more

Quick one day visit to Key West and chose Garbo's for lunch. Not disappointed. It was very hot out but there was lots of shades and fans to be comfortable. Nice to have the food truck and bar. Great Korean-Mexican Fusion concept. We ordered the bulgogi burrito, Cayo and korean style shrimp tacos, and the cayo fish tacos. All the ingredients were very fresh and well prepared. 1. Bulgogi burrito. 5/5. Plenty of meat. The burrito was 75% meat and 25% veggies. That's my kind of ratio. No rice which was fine by me. The bulgogi was decent. It was sweet and savory as well as tender. As a Korean, it hit the spot 2. Shrimp taco Korean style. 3/5. A bit confusing.  What I mean by that is the gochujang, sriracha, and sugar were competing so much that my wife and I finished eating the taco with a confused palate and a lot to be desired. It might have been the batch we had that was a little off, but not our favorite. Would recommend Cayo shrimp over Korean style. 3. Cayo shrimp and Cayo fish. 4/5. Both were pretty good and ingredients were fresh. The house carribean sauce was a nice addition but just lacked that x factor. I've had better fish and shrimp tacos especially in San Diego so I cannot justify 5 stars. Overall verdict, 4/5. Interesting concept that is becoming increasingly popular. A little pricey with 2 tacos running $12.50 (used to getting 3 tacos or a burrito for $7-9), but I guess that is what you get for getting tacos in Key West! Sought out Garbo's upon returning to Key West after several years. Pleased to see the menu has stayed small so they can focus on what they do well. Decided on the lobster roll. It was delicious with a generous portion of lobster meat. Would be nice if the owners would consider serving it with plain melted butter as an option to the mayo version. Though still yummy, for some reason, the roll was salty which was took away from the natural flavor. Open-face on a toasted bun was well presented. This is a place that's been on the list for a while, and I can finally check it off. When you're looking for Garbo's, look for the bike racks that are really full out front and the black backyard tables down a courtyard. As you can imagine, at 10, she doesn't love spicy things. They were good, but definitely not out of this world. There was definitely a lot of fish on the tacos. I had the yum yum shrimp tacos. There were 4 shrimp on each taco. I also ordered without the jalapeño but with the sauce. The girl in the truck told me that the sauce wasn't spicy, and to be fair, it was pretty spicy. The tacos were good. The only difference between the shrimp and fish were such. I won't lie-- I had order envy for the people around me. I should have gotten the Umami burger. It looked far superior to the tacos we were eating. So much so that I thought about ordering it when I finished my tacos, but the line was too long to wait again. The seating can get confusing as the tourists roll in. While you're in Key West, you might notice things are pretty chill all around. When it comes to seating yourself at tables to eat your meal, you bring out the armor of who can claim a table first regardless of how far back they are in the line. While I ordered, my daughter got us a table. She had to take chairs from other tables to get chairs at this empty table. While she was successful at doing so, you also have to manage ordering and finding a table. Other than that, you get to eat in a relaxing outdoor environment. How much better can life get? This is an off the beaten path Key West gem. You follow your iPhone's directions to "go down the road", order at a food truck, take your beeper, go into Hank's Hair of the Dog Saloon, order a drink, listen to the lovely live music and wait for your food. It was the best part of our Key West day. We ordered the beef Korean tacos and the umami burger. The beef on the tacos had a delicious seasoning and the slaw was an excellent, yummy accompaniment to the beef and tortilla. The burger was perfectly cooked and the bacon was thin, diced and crispy so it added to the flavor of the burger without seeming like an add-on. The bun was fresh and hearty enough to hold up to the burger and condiments. The Voodoo flavored chips were a fun addition to the burger tray. Over 30 minutes for 4 burritos - from an air stream, with nobody in front of us ordering and from what I could see, very few people getting food before we received ours. Seems a bit out of whack. A food truck usually means fast and efficient. Unless their short ribs were being made from scratch for each burrito, I'm confused. We were trying to find a place with my husband and toddler for a late dinner and stumbled upon this gem! We went there on a Friday night as live music was playing in the bar area -great tunes by the way! At first, I was a little worried about going in there with a stroller as I didn't see a regular seating area. However, we continued walking and there were tables on the side on the way to the food truck. That was really helpful for us as we could still enjoy the music and sit comfortably to catch a break after traveling while enjoying the scene (they have screens next to the tables so you can still see the stage even if you are sitting). A server takes care of the drinks while you have to order the food at the truck. I had a bowl, my husband had the umami burger and my son had beef tacos. Everything was so fresh, well-cooked and flavorful and the staff was friendly and attentive! The seasoning was wonderful! Maybe a little on the spicy side for the bowl and burger because of the pepper they use to cook but this was a plus for us, just something to keep in mind if a little spice is not your jam. Finally, there is a parking lot next to the restaurant which we really appreciated as this was our first stop getting into town. A great experience overall! Would definitely come back! read more

I got to know of this spot by seeing it on an episode of Triple D on the Food Network. Since we were in Key West for the day I had to stop by. It's pretty easy to find and is located just off Duval street. Parking is hard to find in the area but luckily there is a parking lot right next door. The grill is towards the back of a yard shared with a bar in the front. There is outdoor seating but the bartender said we can order food and eat at the bar, which we did. The food will take some time to be ready but it's worth the wait. The fish and shrimp tacos were spicy and may be a bit too spicy for some people. The Korean BBQ was well flavored and very tender. The Umami burger was simply one of the best burgers I've ever had. Whenever I'm in Key West again I will stop by and if I have room for only one food item it will be the Umami burger. read more
