Stop by there this morning to get a quick bite and something to drink. I had to use the bathroom first I asked the counter lady if I could use the bathroom before ordering my food cause I had never been there and wanted to see what I wanted, she instructed me that I had to order before using the restroom. I told her that I really had to use the bathroom bad and just give me a drink. She said no you have to order a combo. I then told her I didn't want to order a combo because I didn't know what was on the menu She said in order for you to use the bathroom. I have to order the combo mind you I have a medical condition so I said fine give me three ground beef tacos it came up to $10. I then went to use the bathroom after she nasty told me that's our policy finally gave me the key so I went to the bathroom. Only been in there for five minutes , crying because I didn't make it so I soiled myself so I was trying to clean up the mess and use the bathroom one of the employees knocked on the door. I said I'm in the restroom. She said we have customers that needs to use the restroom. I said I'm a customer too. You just made me purchase. I then went back in and asked who knocked on the door. She's then told me we have paying customers did I not just pay $10 to use the restroom I said I said I want to speak with the manager. She gonna say calm down I said no I said I want to speak with the manager. She then says you can speak with the owner, who acted like he cared and dismissed the whole thing. Don't eat there. If you can't even use the restroom without having to spend $10 that means they don't have enough money to operate the business. This is ridiculous. This review might be strictly based on today's service, I'm that disappointed. I debated on dinner tonight and easily went with my go to Garcia Jo Jo's. I tried something new, Taco salad. I ordered a GROUND beef taco salad (tapatia) and a small bean burrito. Paid, no long wait, perfect. I received a shredded beef taco salad. Called because never do I ever order shredded beef here, or anywhere I do not like it at all. I called and said that this was not what I had ordered. It did show on the receipt shredded beef but I didn't think to check before driving off because my order is usually correct. The worker said she had took my order and repeated back shredded beef tapatia and a small bean burrito. I told her no, I never order shredded beef and people don't usually accidentally order things they DO NOT eat. Basically I was told I made the mistake. And I could only get it remade today but it's 15 mins from my house. No time to make it back today and I can't handle rude. Never have I been treated that way there, even when my tostadas came with shredded beef before. Always have received great service. Yall gotta do better. read more

Everything on this menu was great. I moved to north carolina and was so sad to find out the Mexican food here in NC is crap. The prices do NOT match the food. One tamale costed over 7 dollars!! They stated it was because it came with red sauce, rice and chips. I do not want chips with my tamale!! I didn't even want the rice...they said same price. When I got the tamale. .it was so small and floating in the red sauce. The tamale was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand!! I also order a medium vegetarian nacho. They stated that nachos only come with beans, cheese and jalapenos!! That's not a nacho then!!! So I had to pay extra for other ingredients. I have been coming here for years and what I experienced this morning is completely unacceptable! The owner is probably the rudest person I have met in the food industry, I ordered the wrong item and realized it after they took my payment so I asked if I could get a refund on the item that hasn't even been made yet and the owner interrupts the cashier and I and completely goes off on me and belittles me. I asked why is he being so rude and he continues to go off and says you people always want a free meal if he simply would of said it in a nicer manner then I would of been completely fine and as I go back into the restaurant to speak with him he proceeds to go off and states "are you white people too stupid to read the menu?" Don't mess with my Jojos! Yes, this place has a loyal following and I am one of the cultists who swear by them. You may not have been properly indoctrinated by your friends or family, but I'm going to lead you to paradise. First, one of the best things at GJJ is the bean/cheese burritos. They are made from authentic refried beans, and the flavor shines through. To compliment your burrito, make sure to lather that baby in their salsa. It's the best, and if you have some leftover, add it to anything you want to improve the flavor. The burritos also keep well for several days. I'll frequently buy 10-12 and reheat them for my kids (or, they have learned to do it themselves - bonus). Some of my other favorites are the nachos and shredded beef burritos. Your taste may vary, so I can also recommend the enchiladas. If my finicky wife likes it, it must be good. Some on here have complained about the service. Yeah, sometimes the service is not the best, but they are always hustling. If you want them to stop and chat you up instead of kicking out your order, this ain't the place. Go sit down at some other place and get yourself a waitress and sub-par food. They could smile more, but who couldn't. Pro-tip: Don't go between 4:30 and 7:00...they are usually slammed and wait time is poor. Today, they were getting their asses handed to them by the drive-thru, inside, and Grubhub orders. My order was taking longer, and normally I'd be a little more agitated, but I saw the effort. When I asked for my order because I had to pick my kid up, they took care of it quickly. Again, not with the most friendly customer service ("here's your burritos"), but they got it done. I've been going to this place for years when I am in Modesto and haven't had a bad meal yet. The food is cheap and tasty. When I am with friends, I bring them here and describe Garcia JoJo's as a mom 'n pop version of Taco Bell. Everything is made quickly and consistently, but it is very good (and better than Taco Bell). I particularly like the chile relleno, but the enchiladas with red sauce are also delicious. Always ask for extra salsa. They make really (really!) good salsa. I used to go to the one that was over on Tully and Standiford (during high school years) I think this is the only one remaining. I looked for what I used to get (chips and salsa) and they still have it. I got tacos this time around and they were quite good. I think next time I go I'll get enchiladas. I remember the cheese enchiladas from back in the day and look forward to them again. I am from the generation that got to eat at the well loved El Faro...but let me tell you, the food at Garcia JoJo's is fresh and delicious (similar to those 70's and 80's meals!) TERRIBLE drive thru order person, AND dont try to modify anything or try to have them put it on the side it will blow there mind and or has to be extra charge, its on there anyway with no extra charge but if you want it on the side so you can choose how much to put on it they want extra money. So its there way or no way, LOTS of other places in town i shall go to others mext time. Beans are good and sometimes the rice is ok, kind of a hit & miss. Do not order taquitos. I've had their taquitos before and they were really good. Now they put cheese on them, sour cream and not even a teaspoon of guacamole, also they are now using frozen boxed taquitos, like the ones you can buy at Walmart, a box of 24 for $5.99. On June 23 @5:37pm I went to Garcia's JoJo's and ordered some food $41.43. Ordered #1 with 2 soft shredded beef tacos, a Chili Verda dinner, Taquiti dinner with shredded beef, no sour cream or guacamole, large nachos and a chocolate malt. When we got home we had 2 crispy mushy chicken tacos, no chili verda, a chili reno, with some rice, not even the dinner but they charged me $8.69 for it. I go there sometimes 2 times a week, and every time they don't get the order right. When I called them they said I got what I ordered, NO I DID NOT. I have a list of places not to go to anymore and Garcia's is now #1, taking the place of Nations Burgers, cause it's bad, bad, too.Garcia Jo Jo is bad, bad, food and service. We are loyal customers to this place. We come once a week. The rude lady on the intercom at the drive thru was ridiculous!! We have never had a bad experience here till today.
