We ordered the Cajun Seafood Boil, and it did not disappoint. It came with a generous amount of crab, shrimp, lobster, clams, and mussels. The seasoning was bold and flavorful without being overwhelming. The corn, potatoes, and sausage were perfectly portioned, complementing the seafood instead of taking the focus away from it. The rich, buttery garlic sauce tied everything together and was absolutely delicious. We also ordered the half-shell oysters, which were the perfect medium size. They were meaty and had the rich, briny flavor I enjoy. Our server, Angel, was outstanding. My family and I pulled up to Blue a little more than an hour before they closed, and we were a tad hesitant to come in, as all the stools were already set on top of their front bar. Our immediate thought was that they were closed, but a very eager man (whom we later found out was the manager) enthusiastically waved us in. We were seated, and service in the beginning was attentive, even though there was a very large party seated directly next to us. My wife got the shrimp tacos, my kid got the slider, and I ordered the halibut. About thirty minutes later, our food arrived. The tacos were great. My child (who absolutely loves burgers) refused to eat more than the couple of bites they had already taken. Trying to prove a point, I took a bite myself and was greeted with a puck of meat devoid of even the idea of seasoning. No salt. No pepper. No anything. Just meat, bread, and American cheese. The $47 piece of Parmesan-encrusted halibut with a drizzle of beurre blanc looked amazing, but it was all a facade. I expected the fish to be fork-tender, but I was met with quite a bit of resistance when trying to grab my first bite. I initially thought it could be the Parmesan crust, but boy, was I wrong. It was the single driest piece of fish I've ever had. I had trouble believing this poor fish had ever seen water in its entire life. It was canned tuna drained by a hydraulic press dry. And not only was it dry, it was about as seasoned as the meat puck served to my child. Normally, I am a bit annoyed when the wait staff asks how everything is the second you put the first bite in your mouth, but at this moment, nobody could be found. I eventually managed to flag down a waiter who was handing out bills and voiced my concerns. He was very polite and said he would let the manager know. The manager eventually made his way over about ten minutes later and said he could either discount the dish or have the kitchen remake it. I initially asked for them to remake it, but he stressed how long it would take (an additional 20+ minutes) and that he would need to take the whole plate. He wasn't quite condescending, but it definitely felt backhanded. He made it seem like a giant inconvenience and really pushed the discount instead. They were getting close to closing time, and my kid had to get ready for bed soon, so I agreed to keep the plate as long as he brought out some more beurre blanc so I could try to choke down the dish. With the amount of time he was gone, I figured they had to be making the sauce or at least warming it up. Nope. I was given a cold serving of something closer to mayonnaise than beurre blanc. I suffered through one more bite before throwing in the towel. I received the check and, to my surprise, the big discount he had mentioned was a whopping $6.90 off. Not once did he come back to apologize, attempt to make things right, or try to justify why four bites of fish jerky were still worth a hair over $40. If you do decide to risk it, stick with the taco, or don't go before closing. read more

It had two small lobster tails, two sets of crab legs, awful ceviche in two tiny ramekins and four dirty mussels all stick in ice on a plate. No drawn butter. I finally flagged down a different server and got some butter. We ate the lobster, a couple of crab legs with hardly any meat and spit out the mussels. My first review of Blue was written in 1/2024. Service and attitude are still excellent. Prices are high and would be easier to take if expensive entrees came with a small salad or at least an edible garnish. They should also include bread and butter or flavored oil. They used to have several very good desserts, but lately it seems they only have key lime pie, which is not everyone's favorite dessert. At the very least, paper placemats would help to justify the prices. I think a few upgrades would match the delicious food and would keep guests coming back. read more

The Pan Roast is what drew me to this restaurant, and it lived up to the hype. Fresh seafood in a smokey tomato cream sauce with jasmine rice. The lobster was slightly overcooked, but everything else was perfectly cooked. It's a dish I would definitely order again. I could even recommend splitting it with someone due the amount you get. My husband ordered the Cajun scallops with pappardelle pasta, which seemed to be very popular judging by how many we saw delivered to tables around us. It had both sea and bay scallops. The pasta was silky. The sauce had a noted Cajun kick to it. It would have been too spicy for my taste, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. The locale is very unassuming and feels extremely casual, but the food could easily be served in a fine dining restaurant.
