I received a fork with my hot dogs and was curious why since I had only ordered hot dogs, well I quickly understood! The hot dog is served with a generous amount of ingredients. I opted for the Chili Cheese Dog w/ onions. 1 was very filling on its own! Cash is best, no extra fees! Although he does accept card but know there is a fee to use it which is absolutely fair. I appreciated the tent they set up in front of the truck to be under shade while u order and wait for your food. Definitely a nice perk for comfort on the toasty and sunny days. Although I did not get their famous hotdogs (I'm only eating poultry at the moment), I was pleased with their chicken tacos. I got the chicken taco combo which came with 1 (fairly large) chicken taco, a drink, and chips for around $8. I wish I got more, it was really tasty! My mother LOVED Garcia Dogs so coming here was for pure nostalgia for me. It was so bitter sweet but made it that more special. They are now a huge food truck vs the stand but in the same location, off 16th & Emerson. I ordered the bacon dog which comes with 2 toppings but I went with 3, chili, onion and cheese. It was warm not hot which I liked for the sake of the bun not crumbling apart. It comes wrapped in foil to quickly melt the cheese. It was sooo good as always! I got a combo for $13 which was chips and a drink but not sure if the side can be anything They serve tacos, quesadillas, elote and some other ala carte items that I don't recall them having before. It makes sense since that's where you need to go to get up-to-the-minute info on whether or not Garcia's is going to be out. While not commonly seen during the winter, once spring starts to arrive you can be sure you'll find Garcia's in that familiar spot at the corner of the Family Dollar parking lot at 16th and Emerson Avenue. It's a great spot, really. Garcia's is just down from the Community East campus and has a spot that is highly visible and easily accessible for most traffic. I avoided Garcia's for a long time because my hot dog taste tends to be fairly simple. However, I've been trying to give more leave to my beloved eastside - I live about two miles north of this spot and only one house off of Emerson. So, yep, pretty much every night when I'm coming home from work I drive by Garcia's. Garcia's offers hot dogs, brats, sausages, and an amazing array of combinations and condiments. You can get drinks from a cooler. It's important to note, of course, that Garcia's is a street vendor. So, if the weather's particularly nasty he may not be here. You can nearly always find out on his Facebook page. I was a little concerned going into this season. After a long winter (okay, it at least felt long), I'd noted a BBQ stand at this corner a few times. I was hoping Garcia's would return and I was hoping Garcia was alright. The food here is wonderful. The people here are friendly. Garcia is simply awesome. Garcia is a California transplant who came to Indy in 2011. He's got a long history in this business, however, he moved to town to be closer to his brother. It wasn't long before he realized this area didn't have a hot dog cart. I know at one point there was an effort to get an actual food truck, however, for now I continue to see him set up on the corner. The "cart" has actually gotten a bit fancier with a canopy and more expanded set-up. There's typically a line, but he serves quickly and seemingly always has a smile. Prices are fair and he seems to be most famous for his chili cheese dog. The eastside gets a bad wrap. While I grew up in Pike Township, I moved over to Lawrence Township around 12 or so years ago and have been quite happy. Places like Garcia's are part of the reason why. Garcia's Hot Dogs offers great food, friendly service, and gives the Little Flower neighborhood an absolutely wonderful vibe. I worked in the Little Flower neighborhood for two years, driving past Mr. Garcia's Hot Dog Cart everyday yet never stopped. What a fool I was missing out on such an endearing experience! Mr. Garcia's cart has been on the corner of 16th and Emerson since 2011. He is out there everyday, rain or shine, feeding those in search of a good meal and treating his customers like his closest friend. "How are you, my friend?" "What brings you to my cart today, my friend?" "How is your family, my friend?" "Are you enjoying yourself, my friend?" His kindness and warmth are unmatched. When I approached Mr. Garcia, I asked him what $2.75--the cash I had on-hand--could get me. He made sure I was taken care of, grilling up a bacon-wrapped hot dog (his dogs are shipped in from California every three days) and piling on a mountain of toppings: grilled onions, shredded cheddar cheese, chili sauce, lettuce, pico de gallo, and Italian peppers. Now, I know that my hot dog cost more than that, but I could tell that Mr. Garcia was more focused on providing me, his friend, the best, most hospitable experience possible. He even threw in a Diet Coke even though I insisted that he had been too generous already. He wouldn't have it any other way, so I accepted it graciously. Sitting on Mr. Garcia's cooler stockpiled with the most awesomely outrageous hot dog I have ever received, I began a scavenger hunt for the bottom of my hot dog, peeling away at all of the layers of diced veg. Once I managed to cut myself a piece of hot dog and stack my fixings on top, I placed in my mouth something better than any ball park dog I've ever eaten. There was nothing flimsy or store-bought about it, just a whole lotta meat-packing, finger-lickin' greasy goodness. I was very, very impressed with what one man could whip up on a tiny cart. I'll keep the review short because there is not too much to say except you need to try Garcia's Hot Dog! He is super cool and just plain nice! He is keeping up to food safety handling standards regard ensuring the dogs are at the proper temps (he checked the brats because I wanted one but it wasn't ready yet) and if the dog is not ready, you will have to wait for It to be done or better yet select another delicious goodie. He keeps the pork dogs separated from the beef and showed me how he has the dogs arranged in separate warming pitchers that are kept covered. You can select from a host of toppings (I never seen tomatoes being offered for a dog but it was good! He is also cognizant of your time so on the weekdays he makes sure he has items that can be grabbed for go quickly. Those bacon dogs are oh available on Saturdays and Sundays. $3.50 for most of the dogs is cheaper than other places I have been that are brick and mortar locations but I rather hit up a cart any day. You don't understand how happy I am to have found a piece of home right here on the East Side. Mr. Garcia is at the corner of 10th and Emerson St almost every single day unless the weather is bad. It's simple. You order your dog however you want it, maybe get a drink, maybe some chips and you pay cash. He is always kind and asks how you are. And if you are a repeat customer he remember you. I prefer to go on weekends when he has the flattop and therefore, bacon wrapped dogs. SO GOOD!
