How popular is Garcia's Hot Dogs? This eastside institution has 12,000 Facebook followers. It makes sense since that's where you need to go to get up-to-the-minute info on whether or not Garcia's is going to be out. While not commonly seen during the winter, once spring starts to arrive you can be sure you'll find Garcia's in that familiar spot at the corner of the Family Dollar parking lot at 16th and Emerson Avenue. It's a great spot, really. Garcia's is just down from the Community East campus and has a spot that is highly visible and easily accessible for most traffic. I avoided Garcia's for a long time because my hot dog taste tends to be fairly simple. However, I've been trying to give more leave to my beloved eastside - I live about two miles north of this spot and only one house off of Emerson. So, yep, pretty much every night when I'm coming home from work I drive by Garcia's. Garcia's offers hot dogs, brats, sausages, and an amazing array of combinations and condiments. You can get drinks from a cooler. It's important to note, of course, that Garcia's is a street vendor. So, if the weather's particularly nasty he may not be here. You can nearly always find out on his Facebook page. I was a little concerned going into this season. After a long winter (okay, it at least felt long), I'd noted a BBQ stand at this corner a few times. I was hoping Garcia's would return and I was hoping Garcia was alright. The food here is wonderful. The people here are friendly. Garcia is simply awesome. Garcia is a California transplant who came to Indy in 2011. He's got a long history in this business, however, he moved to town to be closer to his brother. It wasn't long before he realized this area didn't have a hot dog cart. I know at one point there was an effort to get an actual food truck, however, for now I continue to see him set up on the corner. The "cart" has actually gotten a bit fancier with a canopy and more expanded set-up. There's typically a line, but he serves quickly and seemingly always has a smile. Prices are fair and he seems to be most famous for his chili cheese dog. The eastside gets a bad wrap. While I grew up in Pike Township, I moved over to Lawrence Township around 12 or so years ago and have been quite happy. Places like Garcia's are part of the reason why. Garcia's Hot Dogs offers great food, friendly service, and gives the Little Flower neighborhood an absolutely wonderful vibe. The Pogue's Run Arts and Nature Park is also just down the street - so you can grab a hot dog and go chill at the park for a bit. Perfection!

Definitely one of my favorite spots! Food and Service were amazing and great prices. I have waited forever to visit the truck had went all the time to the stand but overall AMAZING. Chili Dogs are FIREEEEEEE

This place is a staple of Indianapolis, so I decided to try it out for the first time. Awesome set-up he has here, every topping you'll want for a hotdog. I had a chili cheese, and a Chicago dog and wasn't disappointed. The price is very reasonable for a hotdog stand, I will be supporting this business in the future.

Second time getting a chili cheese dog, this place is so great that I made a point to go there today and will anytime I'm close.

Everything you ever wanted in a hotdog, brat, or sausage

You know that winter is finally over when you go past 16th and Emerson and see Garcia's set up for the season! You'll always be greeted with a warm welcome and a smile from Garcia himself serving up the best hotdogs, brats, and sausages you'll ever have. Offering all the toppings you ever wanted, extra condiments, cold drinks from a cooler, and a variety of chips, no one will go hungry here. Prices are extremely reasonable as well. Including taxes, my chili cheese brat was just $5.75. Take a break from life and enjoy your dog in your car or take it home as there is no indoor or outdoor seating here. What you see in the pictures is what you get. He is there to crank out food from his tent cover and send you on your wonderful way. I can't stress enough how warm and inviting the customer service is here. They'll treat you like family, which is hard to find these days. Welcome back to the neighborhood, Garcias!

Love this guy! His Hot Dog stand is usually located at the corner of 16th Street and Emerson Avenue on the Eastside. In the Dollar General parking lot. I got his famous Chili Cheese Dog and added his homemade Chicago Pepper blend. So yummy! I also got a red hot dog with sauerkraut, oh yes

Built my own: bacon dog with lettuce, grilled onions, cheese, relish, & mustard.

Is the cart out in the winter or only summer months?

Garcia hasn't been out much yet this month Lindsay, but you can follow him on facebook and he'll let you know his daily hours in real time. So much of his business is weather-dependent but he is there most of the year weather permitting.

I went with a Malibu and ginger ale, and it was served in this cute glass, I loved it! We were all so hungry, so we started out with a large order of fries, and they are a standout. They disappeared fast, came served on paper, and were crispy, hot, and delicious. We ordered the 2 10-piece wings (the biggest order available), including one batch cooked extra crispy. The wings were good, and I especially enjoyed the Fat Dan's hot BBQ sauce over the regular BBQ. I really liked the extra crispy wings. My boys also wanted burgers. One ordered the Wake N Bake Burger and the other got the Fat Dan's Burger. Both looked tasty, and neither of them complained. The ambiance strikes a nice balance between sports bar and family friendly restaurant. There is seating both inside and outside, and when the weather is nice, they open the large doors to create an open-air feel. That's where we sat, and I enjoyed it. Service was quick and efficient, which was much appreciated since my family arrived hungry. This is a solid spot for burgers, wings, and fries.

I drove by here all the time and then heard it was featured on Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives. I had been curious to try it out for a while now and I finally logged a couple visits. At the moment, they're only open for the drive through and curbside pickup while they're under construction to introduce indoor seating. I suppose I'll have to visit again to be able to rate the ambiance. I've had friendly interactions with both times I came. One time, I had the food brought out to my car, while the other time I had to drive back around to pick up my order. Both times, I got the empanada combo and that was well worth it! For $17 you get three empanadas, some churros and Dulce de leche, and house made kettle chips. I'll rank my favorite empanadas in order: Oreo cheesecake (oh yeah, you read that right!) Birria Argentine chorizo Creamy chicken S'mores Cheesy pineapple bacon These are all great. This was a hard list to make. I would definitely recommend all of them if you have the chance to order more. I also want to try all the empanadas on their menu eventually. The kettle chips are on the less salty side, which I prefer. I think they have a hint of sweetness to them. The churros... on their own they're pretty decent but the Dulce included? Next level. I always save my leftover Dulce to find something else to dip in it. How I have leftover is beyond me but I won't complain! Overall, I think Che Chori has a pretty expansive menu, considering that empanadas, burgers, and pizza are very different things. I'm not sure how the others stack up, but I will definitely be back for the rest of the empanadas!
