Ahhh finally! I made it into the newly revamped Che Chori and it did not disappoint! It's been a pretty challenging season of life and I decided to make it in for a treat and boy, it was the perfect treat! It looks awesome inside!!! I have been looking at planning an international trip soon and popping into Che Chori definitely gave me the feeling that I was traveling and in the best way possible! Fun and colorful walls & art pieces, great music playing in the background, lots of indoor seating and a bar area! Yes please! I got the porchetta sandwich which has become my favorite menu item (but it's hard to decide)! The owners are absolutely lovely and Chef Marcos brought around alfajores for us to try! So so good!!! Long overdue review for a great restaurant. I've mostly done carryout but recently they have opened up their indoor dining. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is admittedly not in a scenic part of town and the exterior might seem a little rough when you see it's shipping containers but the interior is the definition of a hidden gem. It is bright, quiet, and colorful inside with fun nods towards Argentian food and culture.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff are beyond friendly and food comes out fairly quick. The star of this place is obviously the empanadas. If you've never had an empanada before, they are basically [savory] hand pies or pasties for you Michigan folks. The pastry dough in general is perfect, not thin enough to tear or leak but not too thick that it becomes dry or detracts from the filling. They are consistently crispy and reheat very well in a toaster over or air fryer. Over the years i've tried all their flavors and while they have a lot of fun spins on american flavors the Birria, Pollo Rojo, and Argentine Chorizo are the ones I keep come back to time and time again. The Birria and Pollo Rojo just have great flavor coming from the chilies and tomatoes are just perfectly stewed coming out moist and tender every time. The argentine chorizo has no real heat but is extremely savory and slightly creamy from the cheese so rounds out the other options. Strawberry Cobbler and Guava & Cream are excellent dessert options as well but you will find after 3 empanadas or so you're gonna be pretty full. Overall this is one of Indy's top restaurants in my book. If we ever have family/friends in town I always make sure we find a night to order Che Chiori because it's always good, you can always find something on the menu for everyone, and you get to try a lot of fun flavors so it becomes a great group experience. read more

We initially went through the drive thru and were told we could either come back through when our order was ready or come inside to wait. Nothing fancy, it's kind of a dive, but the food is so good and fresh! I ordered their $16 combo of 3 empanadas, chips, and 3 churros with dulce de leche sauce. The empanadas are $4 each and the churros are about $1 each. I upgraded from chips to fries for $1 more. In hindsight, the fries were too much food. The empanadas were enough to fill me up. Each empanada is basically the size of a taco....They're kind of a cross between a taco and a chimichanga, and they are amazing! They have 15(!) different empanada flavors and you can order different flavors. I went with a chorizo empanada and two birria empanadas. So good! If I had to choose, I liked the chorizo one better, but they were both great. The churros and dulce de leche were perfect. I had never had dulce de leche before and I don't really know how to describe it. It's kind of a chocolate caramel dipping sauce, but it's excellent. The staff couldn't have done a better job. They were friendly, quick, and patient with my MANY questions since I had never eaten Argentine food before. If it's good enough for Triple D (Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives), it's more than good enough for you and me. I drove by here all the time and then heard it was featured on Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives. I had been curious to try it out for a while now and I finally logged a couple visits. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At the moment, they're only open for the drive through and curbside pickup while they're under construction to introduce indoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I suppose I'll have to visit again to be able to rate the ambiance. I've had friendly interactions with both times I came. One time, I had the food brought out to my car, while the other time I had to drive back around to pick up my order. Both times, I got the empanada combo and that was well worth it! For $17 you get three empanadas, some churros and Dulce de leche, and house made kettle chips. I'll rank my favorite empanadas in order: Oreo cheesecake (oh yeah, you read that right!) Birria Argentine chorizo Creamy chicken S'mores Cheesy pineapple bacon These are all great. This was a hard list to make. I would definitely recommend all of them if you have the chance to order more. I also want to try all the empanadas on their menu eventually. The kettle chips are on the less salty side, which I prefer. I think they have a hint of sweetness to them. The churros... on their own they're pretty decent but the Dulce included? Next level. I always save my leftover Dulce to find something else to dip in it. How I have leftover is beyond me but I won't complain! Overall, I think Che Chori has a pretty expansive menu, considering that empanadas, burgers, and pizza are very different things. Holy moly, how have I not been here until now? These empanadas are DELICIOUS. Light, pillowy dough, flavorful fillings, and just the right size. The combo is the best bang for your buck - three empanadas, a small bag of the best crunchy housemade kettle chips I've had in a while, and two perfectly fried churros with delectable dolce de Leche for dipping. Joshua was awesome, taking time to chat with us about the different menu items, and his recommendations were spot on. Would love to try one of the sandwiches next time. The southwest veggie was outstanding as were the meat fillings. The strawberry with ice cream was like the best piece of pie. The alfaver cookie was to die for. My review is based on several really good door dash experiences: first they packaged the empanadas really well 2nd who cares about packaging - these empanadas are super tasty! The birria and the butternut squash are my current obsessions, but the whole menu is stacked with delicious options I'm excited to try. I have been a customer of Che Chori for over 6 years. During Covid, restaurant dining was limited, so I ordered an 8-pound Porchetta roast and picked up at the drive-through window. We enjoyed it at home with family and friends. Delicious! We went to the soft opening of their indoor dining area yesterday. My go-to order is usually a few empanadas. My favorites are the Argentine Chorizo, Spinach, and the Guava Cheese empanadas. I haven't had the sandwiches in a while, so I ordered the El Vacio, tender and juicy flank steak on a baguette. I forgot how good it was. Others in our party enjoyed the Porchetta sandwich, Chicken Milanesa sandwich and a variety of empanadas. Everything was delicious! Wow, my previous review was three years ago! Definitely time for an update! We order food from here fairly regularly for work lunches and I love the box lunch which comes with any two empanadas, churros with dulce de leche and a bag of their homemade chips. All of the empanadas are delicious. They have traditional flavors and then have some fun with other fillings. One time they did an Oktoberfest theme and had bratwurst empanadas and I think even one with sauerkraut and sausage. I can't pick favorites as they are all so good but you can't go wrong with the Argentinian chorizo or chicken ones. I really like the spinach and butternut squash varieties too. The crust is tender and flaky and while fried, they're never greasy. The churros are amazing and I always save the leftover dulce de leche to put on other things like....anything...graham crackers...stir some in hot cocoa...cannot let it go to waste! The chips are excellent and I never have room to eat them right away so I can attest that they are still wonderful the next day. They will also cater big platters of empanadas which is perfect for a party. Stamping the type on each empanada is so helpful, particularly with platters. It keeps people from cutting them open to figure out which is which. I love that they do this! read more

We were finally able to visit Che Chori this weekend. After reading rave reviews, watching YouTube videos, being featured on DDD with Guy Fieri, seeing multiple posts about them providing food for Indy 500, and watching the crowds having a blast watching all the World Cup matches there, we just had to go and experience our first Argentine meal at Che Chori! As soon as we opened the door, we were warmly greeted by Charlie and Jose. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were very pleasantly surprised to see the impressive full bar as soon as you enter![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When we explained this was our first visit, Charlie patiently went over the extensive menu with us. Remarkably, they make every single menu item from scratch- the sausages, the bread, empanadas, churros, sauces, desserts...everything! We had a delightful margarita, sampler empanada plate, porchetta sandwich, churros, and traditional Argentine alfajores cookies. Wow- we highly recommend everything we ate!! One of the owners, Marcos Perera, came in before we left. He was born and raised in Argentina. The churros and the caramel are hands down delicious and you should go get some!! It's been a while since I've been here and when I'm this side of town I had to stop! It was later in the evening and unfortunately didn't taste as great as the first time I went. Perhaps the empanadas I had were already cooked once because they were so greasy that I could barely taste the meat. The guava and cheese empanada wasn't as greasy and heated up well the next day. I went through the drive though and didn't know they had numbers to wait for your order. It was pretty fast but next time I go I'll go earlier in the day and hope to get some fresh empanadas. read more
