I used like this place but the location in CARMEL. This place giving dead dead dead food. Like my food is never fresh here so disappointing because I tried. I be craving portie's but I guess I gotta go to CARMEL to get it fresh again..

Hot Dog

I really liked visiting Portillo's! It was somewhere that I had heard a lot about but just recently got to try. I ordered the regular Chicago style hot dog minus the sport peppers and I really enjoyed it. I don't think I've ever ordered a hot dog from a restaurant but it was really good, especially with all the toppings. The atmosphere was cool to see all the Indy history on the walls. I think this would be a hit with kids. Of course I tried their chocolate cake as well as the lemon and both were okay but the chocolate was definitely much better.

Great food! I try to eat here when visiting the Indianapolis area. If you're looking for fast food/quick service, be sure to give Portillo's a try. I recommend the Italian beef (hot pepper over sweet IMO), and chili cheese dog. Clean restrooms, friendly service, excellent food. I wish we had one closer to where I live.

Chicago Style Beef Hot Dog with Onion Rings

Ever since I experienced the Avon location I've been wanting to visit a Portillo's again for a Chicago Style hot dog. Today I was on my way to the Elite Event at PANA Donuts and wanted to eat lunch before getting near all those donuts. This location is virtually identical to the Avon location in layout, decorations and ambiance. The various stuff decorating the dining rooms is like being in a museum. A lot of history in shown in those photographs. I ordered the Portillo's Beef Hot Dog in the Jumbo size which is not really that big just thicker than a normal sized hot dog. I also ordered an order of Onion Rings which were very crispy and crunchy. I loved the hot dog and everything on it but mine was minus the mustard because I asked for it to be withheld. I could have ate two of them.

Chicago style hot dog, Chopped Salad, ITALIAN BEEF, cheese and fries.

Portillo's is always great if you enjoy a Chicago style hotdog, they are so yummy and fresh made for you. I've never had anything here that I didn't enjoy. I love their chopped salad as well. We really all enjoy something each time we stop by on a trip. There is an odd smell the last couple times, not sure what it is but it's not pleasant. The food thankfully makes up for it and it's not so bad that you can't enjoy the food and smells from the kitchen. I did like when we could get our own refills rather than take the cups up for a refill at the counter.

We sat, ordered beverages and the burgers. We got in and out in 40 ish minutes. If I had more time, sitting on the patio would have been nice. I noticed a lot of carryout orders being picked up, so I knew it must be good. We are not local to Indy so finding a quick good meal was important. They had a decent local beer tap list, so I was happy to try a new to me brew. We got one Tillamook Cheddar Burger with fries, and a Patty melt with onion rings. It must have been one huge onion! Both burgers were cooked to our request, both sides were delicious. The service was efficient. I would come back if the opportunity arises.(The show at the Murat was also great).

Our server quickly greeted us and took our beverage orders...they carry only Pepsi soft drink products. She quickly returned beverages on tray, then took our orders. I opted for the Patty Melt along with a side of onion rings. The entrees arrived in the blink of an eye. My Patty melt and onion rings arrived fresh and hot. They even tasted great too! The hamburger patty was thick and juicy and cooked the way I'd prepare it myself. Portions were more than ample. After finishing my "feast" it was time for dessert, a Root Beer float, served in a tall larger glass with an ample portion of ice cream. I would suggest ordering it for two...it's that big. All enjoyed their burgers and we're looking forward to returning next year. * I purposely didn't review the other meals served, as they will be doing their own Yelp reviews.

Mac and Cheese: you can choose your own add on! I had bacon and caramelized onions added to mine. Poppers: very unique, had a chili cheese filling instead of cream cheese. Zero proof drinks. There were some reviews about long wait times, non-toasted buns and the cost but the write up of the place itself gave me nostalgia vibes for a place called Cobra Burger in Richmond, VA so I had to try my luck. I really wanted to love this place, as I've not found anything like Cobra Burger here in Indy. When we arrived, around 6:45p on a Thursday, the patio had a good amount of people, but inside was pretty empty apart from the bar. We sat at a two top in the bar area. The music was at a pretty low volume, especially considering the amount of reviews that said otherwise. Our server was also bartender, so it initially took her a couple of minutes to come over, which is understandable. She took our order for drinks and then after bringing them back for the food. She was nice and provided good service although juggling tables and the bar, plus she was also pregnant. It took a very long time for us to get our food (close to an hour), despite three guys working the line in the kitchen, banging out burger after burger. The food arrived, hot and correct. Both my husband and I were disappointed that the reviews were right and the burger buns were not toasted. Non-toasted burger buns actually make the burgers harder to eat and less enjoyable. My burger was decent for a non-handmade vegan option; for the price my expectation is amor sophisticated/handmade creative one, but I am thankful that they had a vegan option at all. My husband thought his burger was just okay and that he's had better ones around Indy, so we probably won't be dining here again. For the size of the burger, they should bring you ample napkins without having to ask because it is very messy trying to eat them. For two burgers with fries, one small mac & cheese, and three beers (one regular and two nonalcoholic) before tip the bill was over $80. Now, if the food was top-tier fantastic, I would say fine but being that it was more middle of the road it's a bit pricey.

Nothing aesthetically has changed in the decorations, it is still so cute and so pink in there. The food on the other hand was 100% better. A lot of burgers don't have much flavor but this make your own double patty burger with cheese was overflowing with flavor. After visiting at the end of January and ordered takeout in early February and was still so blown away at the quality and the care that was put in to even a take out order. The fries were phenomenal as well. They are pretty close to being shoelace fries and with the bowl you get two signature sauces of your choosing. I can't remember what sauces we had but they were delicious. I will definitely be back and probably will have to have a shake next time.

One of my favorite memories from The District Tap actually started with a shirt…read more We were sitting on the patio overlooking Georgia Street on a Fever game day when a couple walked by wearing one of the coolest Caitlin Clark shirts we'd ever seen. We complimented it, asked where they found it, and before we knew it, we were chatting with a wonderful couple who had traveled all the way from overseas just to watch Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever play that night. Moments like that are one of the reasons I love Indianapolis on game days. The patio was the perfect place to soak it all in. Fever fans filled the sidewalks, kids proudly carried homemade signs, and there was an excitement in the air that only comes from a city rallying behind its team. We could have people-watched for hours. Our waitress was exactly what every server should strive to be. Friendly, relaxed, and genuinely fun to talk to, she somehow mastered the art of appearing right before we found ourselves looking around for her. We never felt rushed, but we also never waited for anything. The food held up its end of the bargain too. The fried mozzarella disappeared embarrassingly fast and earned a solid 9.3 on my unofficial stretch meter. Crispy on the outside, perfectly gooey inside, with a marinara sauce that was every bit as good as the cheese itself. The chef salad was fresh, generously loaded with toppings, and easily big enough for a meal. I honestly couldn't tell you what beer I ordered... Because what I remember most is the experience. Sharing appetizers on a sunny patio, meeting fellow basketball fans from halfway around the world, and watching Indianapolis come alive before tipoff. It reminded me that sports have a funny way of turning complete strangers into friends. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're headed to Gainbridge.

Our server was friendly and responsive to one member of our group (male) but repeatedly didn't acknowledge another (female). This wasn't a one-time thing, it happened several times over the course of our visit, and it came across as dismissive. As for the drinks: beer prices were nice and cheap, but the margarita was on the expensive side and not really worth it. The place seems geared toward bigger dinner crowds, which may be why a two-person drinks-only table didn't get much attention, but being essentially ignored isn't a great look either way. We wouldn't return. 2/5.
