Cozy cafe in Williamsburg with a completely vegan menu! I love the convenience of being at a vegan cafe and not worrying about whether a sauce contains dairy or what the upcharge will be for nondairy milk. Service was super friendly, the woman working the counter seemed new & very eager to help. The baked goods case was full, plenty of vegan baked goods from cookies to croissants. The cappuccino was solid, and I appreciated that they had soy milk as an option as that's been a rarity nowadays. I got the grilled chicken caesar wrap and had no complaints, it tasted like the Daring vegan chicken with romaine and some crispy onions. Lettuce was crisp, salad was dressed just right, and the wrap itself had a nice grill on it. The entire menu was enticing to me with lots of options, and it's great quality for what you'd find at a coffee shop, but don't think it'd be fair to compare the food here to that of a proper restaurant. I went on a Monday morning and it was pretty quiet, I was able to pull out my laptop and get some work done with the wifi. About eight tables total inside with a few more outside, most of are small ones for 1-2 people. I've been by on weekends and it seems quite a bit busier, maybe less of a work vibe then.

The teeniest tiniest sliver of cheesecake imaginable for $7

I love their food. Specifically the steak sandwich, which is tender and marinated to perfection. I've only ordered delivery so I can't speak for the service or the ambiance. HOWEVER, I ordered their cheesecake slice for the first time and it was the TINIEST sliver of a slice for almost $7!!! A normal slice would be twice as big as this one. That's incredibly expensive for what amounts to a couple of bites of cake. I'm adding a picture to show how egregiously tiny this slice of cake was. At its widest point it was 1 inch. Very disappointed. It tasted great so it's a shame.

Very cute spot in the neighborhood! I don't know if they were understaffed that day or it usually takes this long but it took a long time to get the food out, I probably waited 20min which is longer than average for lunch. Luckily I wasn't in a rush.

Great vegan eatery and bakery. Ran across it by accident but looks like it's quickly turning into a neighborhood staple. Lots of vegan baked good like croissants and muffins. They're known for their vegan takes on typically meaty sandwiches, ala heros and meatball parms. I didn't get a chance to try those yet, but had their brussels sprouts, which are excellent and generously portioned, and an almond cappuccino. All were delicious, the vibe was relaxing and comfortable. The staff was sweet and attentive. I'll be coming back to try more treats soon!

Am I vegan? No. Did i order the Meatball Parm sub on doordash not knowing it was vegan? Yes. Did i absolutely destroy the sub like there was no tomorrow? Hells yes. Absurdly delicious and after reading these reviews, i have my eye on the mac & cheese next. The Chai Latte was well spiced & i adore the cup art. Can't wait to check out the in store vibe soon because "plant based butcher shop" is a must see.

I'm surprised there are only 52 reviews for this place on yelp! It's been there on grand street for quite some time and I finally got around to ordering some take out. The Mac and cheese lived up to the hype and so did the chicken Caesar wrap. The Mac and cheese could have been heavier on the bread crumbs and the wrap could have used more Caesar. Maybe that's just me, but this certainly won't stop me from ordering again. My partner had the Italian hero and I thought the texture was so unique. think all of this it best eaten immediately though, I ate part of my wrap a bit later and it wasn't as good cold! I didn't eat inside the restaurant but plan to do so at some point. Food was delivered very quickly and in one piece!

So incredibly cute in here. I loved the unique flavors and had a fantastic pistachio vanilla cortado. The barista was kind enough to custom make the cortado flavored even though it wasn't on the menu. She also gave a great recommendation for the local kombucha and it did not disappoint.

This is a cute little shop that has both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff member was nice but it would be helpful if they had some type of bell or something when the staff are in the back just so they know when customers are out and ready to order. The sandwiches aren't bad but overpriced in my opinion. I was especially disappointed since I ordered the Italian HERO sub and it is supposed to come both turkey and roast beef but only was served with one because they ran out of the other yet they did not bother to mention that at all when I ordered or when I was given the sandwich. It is definitely a pet peeve of mine when restaurants do this and definitely decreases the value for me. For the chicken parm they do put the sauce on the side which is nice so you can choose how sauces you want it to be.

Was in Williamsburg and wanted a delicious light bites cafe style. The menu was yummy and the options were exactly what you needed to find at a spot like this. They offer coffee, desserts, delicious pantry items that are heavenly for your cheeze board cravings. I tried the chicken Cesar salad, Mac and cheese(cashew cheese), the steak sandwich and the meatball sub I was really hungry and wanted to try all the options which me and my friends all split and stayed stuffed! The outdoor seating was beautiful it was too cold to hang outside but in the spring summer I can only imagine how lovely it is. Great spot everyone paid around $30 and under which is ok for something like this. Also side note it is self seating and you order at the register and then food comes to you.

Incredible vegan meats, which make incredible vegan sandwiches. My wife & I ordered "the best vegan steak sandwich" ($18 plus tax) to split, which was pretty huge. The product they use for the "steak" is pretty incredible, tearing like real beef brisket, and marinated nicely, served with chimichurri, on fresh white, sesame seed-coated bread. Large portion and just delicious. Awesome spot.

i love this place and make a point to come here anytime i'm in town. all the food is flavourful and delicious but if i had one suggestion it would be to add a lil salt and pepper to the chix caesar wrap. it's a bit bland compared to everything else on the menu and yes i can add my own but why disrupt the structural integrity of the wrap when y'all could "season" it up in house ? read more

Such a great asset to the neighborhood! Fantastic, homemade comfort food. Highlights include the meatball sub (read about it on Eater!), smashburger, and the hot chicken sandwich! Also great salads, cheese plates, fig salami (which I'd never had before but was awesome) and delicious wine and coffee. The blueberry lavender latte is my new favorite drink. The ambiance is beautiful with flowers everywhere. The service is great and the employees seem genuinely happy to be there! read more

This is a neighborhood gem! You can't miss this lovely spot on Grand, with it's thoughtful and lovely decor (the flowers will draw you in!). The wonderful hospitality, the incredible menu (hello smashburger, spicy rig with meatballs and that new nashville hot chicken sandwich...they even do a beautiful charcuterie board as well as bfast sandwiches), and the lip-smacking beverages will keep you coming back for more. Always enjoy peeping their selection of vegan salamis and cheeses as well as other selections of plant-based snacks that are hard to find anywhere else in the neighborhood. For a tasty breakfast, lunch or romantic dinner outside, I can't recommend GC enough! read more

This spot it sooo fantastic vegan or not, you should give it a try. The staff is sweet and helpful with your selections. From the bakery and deli items I've had everything's been really good. But the pre made foods are really the star of the show. Anything with theirred saw is impeccable. I would recommend the meatball sub or the rigtoni with meatballs. This is a new vegan cafe/butcher shop in Williamsburg. I went there for the breakfast sandwich and it didn't disappoint! It's egg, sausage, and cheese on a croissant, with caramelized onions on top (which was a really tasty addition). I also got some pastries that were good, especially the chocolate almond croissant! The space is super cute and CLEAN inside and there are a few tables out front, which are nice too. It's set up to not feel like you're eating in the middle of the sidewalk in NYC. I sat outside on a nice day and enjoyed it. I want to go back and try their meatball hero, cheeses in the deli case, and smash burger. They are super friendly, have great service and it's just a cool, chill place to hang out and grab good food. read more

I did not dine in but they had a few seats if you want to eat there. I tried the Meatball Hero ($14) which I loved a lot! I will definitely go there again to try other options. After you eat your sandwich, you can visit Martha's Country Bakery (by 1-2 mins walking distance) to eat some vegan cakes too. read more

I ordered a chicken Parmesan sandwich and it was literally a chicken cutlet and the tiniest amount of vegan cheese on a toasted hamburger bun. They didn't put anything else in the sandwich, and it was 15$. I also got a French toast muffin thinking it would be an actual muffin. Instead it was the crusts of bread, pan fried with vegan butter and barely any syrup all squished together into a muffin liner. My partner ordered the rigatoni and we took it to the park, but by the time we got there, the rigatoni was ice cold. The park is only a 10 minute walk away, so either they did not warm it up well enough or the pasta was not freshly made. The service was slow, and there was only one other customer there. The ambiance was cute, but that's the only good thing about this place. I would go again but only to get a latte and take pictures. read more

Incredible Vegan sandwiches. Bread was soft and fluffy! I have a hard time chewing most sandwiches and I could chew these with no problem. There was so much flavor! We got the meatball hero (the meatballs were quite generous and the sauce and the Italian hero and both were delicious. Next time will try the charcuterie which also looked amazing. Prices were very fair for portion sizes and I was full for hours after! read more

"Best Smashburger?" A bold claim for any NYC restaurant but Garden Carver's "best smashburger" is by far the best tasting plant based smashburger that I've ever had and can contend with it's meat based counterparts. The beyond patty is crisp, juicy, and deliciously topped with caramelized onions and vegan American cheese. The patty is housed in a vegan potato bun that's kind of like vegan version of the martin bun, which, in of itself, is tasty. The oat latte was cold and refreshing. The vegan chocolate chip cookie, which I'm eating now, is utterly amazing. It has the right amount of sweet and savory saltiness. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. I'm excited to go back and explore more of their menu, especially their breakfast sandwich and pasta dishes. Garden Carver offers both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a cute restaurant/cafe/bakeshop and ideal place to chill or do work alone or in a group setting. It's also a chill spot to escape the heat while sipping on a cold treat. I'll definitely be going back to this new Williamsburg gem. read more

As a dairy free person this place is a god send!! I haven't had a croissant or cinnamon roll in so long, so I was more than thrilled to randomly stumble across this place and their wonderful dairy free pastries. Jazz music and sweet flowers drew me in to this adorable vegan cafe-restaurant. The staff is lovely and I ordered the "lox and cream cheese" on a croissant and it was perfection! The next time I returned and wanted something sweet-the almond croissant was on point ! There's a great wine list and, on the dark and rainy day, I closed my eyes and was transported to Paris in the best of ways. Y'all vegans, come in and support this dear sweet place. read more

Incredible experience at Garden Carver, best plant based/ vegan food by far! They have many options for breakfast lunch and dinner which includes the famous Meatball Hero that I keep going back for. They also have classic cafe pastries with a few gluten free options. Not only was the food experience amazing, but their staff is super friendly and helpful! We stopped in this newer place for a quick snack and were highly impressed. It has a cozy café feel with nice offerings from wine and a charcuterie board to house made meatball subs and lattes. We tried several dishes and all were excellent and the prices were shockingly low for NYC! The best part was meeting the kind staff and owner. Their warmth really elevated the experience. The Smash Burger by far is one of the best burgers I've ever had. The burger patty tastes identical to real meat, but somehow even better with it's tenderness. The tangy, sweet sauce that's drizzled throughout along with a fresh bun and cheese makes the whole burger delicious. I will be coming back! read more

The matcha is light but you can still taste it. Absolutely, would drink this all the time if I could. 3. Purple Sweet Potato Latte. This. This. Omg, why haven't I tried this sooner?! The first sip and initial taste, I almost tasted nothing, just milk. And then all of a sudden, there's an explosion of flavor in your mouth. As a sweet potato lover, I was in heaven. I have absolutely no words for this drink, just try it. 100/10 recommend. This is probably my favorite one out of the 3 that I bought. The topping was literally like actual tiramisu rather than just tiramisu flavoring, and it felt like there was more ice and tiramisu than latte. Personally, I would have preferred more of the tiramisu flavor without the full tiramisu texture mixed into the drink. That said, it was an interesting concept and I'm glad I tried it. I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying another latte on a future visit.

I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.

Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

Also they forgot about the clam chowder we ordered and asked if we still want it.. YES..that's why we ordered it. Overall if you don't pay attention to those details it's worth coming for some great seafood. BUT I highly recommend getting a reservation.

Had an awesome experience here. I'll admit, I'm not usually the guy who goes out looking for vegan restaurants, so I wasn't sure what to expect. That said, this place completely exceeded my expectations. The star of the show was the medium rare steak sandwich. Absolutely phenomenal. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. It was one of those meals where you immediately start thinking about when you can come back and order it again. The vibe is great and makes this a perfect date spot. What really tied everything together was the service. The manager was outstanding, personable, attentive, and clearly knows how to create a great guest experience. You can tell he takes pride in what he does.
