This is the second time in years I've ordered from Garden Catering. The first time whoever answered the phone had a never ending attitude, and essentially told me to just order online. This second time I ordered through ubereats. You would think there's no way to mess up when the receipt specified exactly what I wanted, which was quite simple. Seasoning and ketchup for the nuggets and fries. When I say there was no seasoning, I mean there was NO seasoning, not even a dab of evidence that anything had been put into the bag. When I called the store to discuss this, I was told she put it in but maybe not enough to my "liking". If there had been even a tablespoon of seasoning it would've made all the difference in the world and I wouldn't have even bothered to call because I could make that work. THERE WAS ZERO SEASONING. The big boy special also comes with a free drink which was NOT given to the driver. Although the girl who answered the phone was very quick to say the driver probably stole it... then she went on to tell me I could go get the seasoning and drink if I really wanted it. Now the reason I ordered Ubereats is because I didn't have a way to drive and pick up, or else why would I pay someone to deliver me something???? The attitude on the staff is beyond me, I would love to be able to give them more stars but they have been such a disappointment, I will definitely not be ordering from them again. I Live in Stamford so I never have an issue; however while I am at work, I figured I would order from the Norwalk location since Uber said it would take 25 minutes. Their nuggets and salads are good in a pinch. I really loved their fried chicken sandwich but was very disappointed at the last few times we got it. Two coworkers of mine love this place but have noticed it's changed over the years. We recently ordered online for lunch and a side order and specified sauces were not in our bag. Multiples of other sauces we didn't want we're in our bag. This wasn't known until we opened the bag back at our office. The chicken was ok but relatively bland without seasoning (which comes in little cup containers to put on yourself) or sauce. Had to ask twice for my receipt and a drink tray when I picked it up like the girl was not focusing. Everyone has a bad day so maybe we ordered on one of theirs. Walked in and ordered a simple special. Then for twenty plus minutes they ignored me. It took more then twice the amount of time it should have. Not surprised to see this location has an average rating of 3-stars. I just sat down with my boyfriend and ordered two big boy specials. To start, the front door is broken and stays open unless someone closes it. Staff members were no where in sight so we frequently had to get up to close the door ourselves...today it's 16 degrees outside. In addition, when our food was ready...the cook came to the front and pulled our food to the back. When we asked why they took the food back they responded, "nothing." Portion looked smaller than my previous experiences at other locations. Since we were hungry we just sat and ate while frequently getting up to close the door. Some of the food was hot and some lukewarm...like they combined and older batch of chicken and fries with a new one. When we approached the manager about our concern with the door and how cold it was, he pointed out the obvious stating, "it's broken." When we asked what he was doing about it he didn't respond and started speaking to an employee. In addition, this location has a smaller menu and no gluten free options. I'm a weekly customer who's had a pleasant experience at both the Fairfield and new haven locations. The girl working in the front was extremely rude she did not say hello or say anything at all when i took my food and was using her phone at the counter. After i got home i saw i was missing my order of cones & I came back around 6:50 and told her my cones were missing from my bag. I wish there was a better rating system on yelp because I would give a 0 star review based on customer service and a 3.5 based on food. I went in this morning and ordered my standard order. I got there pretty early and the girl who was at the register (Monika) was doing something on the terminal and barely acknowledge my presence as I stood there for a good 2 minutes waiting for her to finish whatever it was she was doing. I just came from making a deposit at the bank and was told that the original charge for $10.37 was on my card and no reverse charge had been issued. Looking at the receipt they gave me it shows a cash refund was issued but I was given no cash. Driving back to get my $2 will probably cost me more in gas just driving there and I don't have any faith in the staff working there that it would even get resolved. The kicker is that Monika was outside eating as I was pulling out and she was drinking a Snapple, hmm what are the odds. Overall I am disappointed in the way this place is run. In terms of food it's a good spot for a quick fried lunch. I've been a fan of the nuggets/fries/cones for 15+ years. Despite the name changes and splits (reddi rooster, chicken joe's, garden) over the years the food remains consistent (not that difficult when it's all fried). While garden catering food is good the service at the norwalk branch is awful. I'm hard of hearing and today I went in to order two wraps. The lady thought i said roll and when she repeated it back to me i mistaked roll for wrap because she said it quickly and I cannot hear well. When i got it i told her i ordered to wraps she was not apologetic and instead insisted I didn't and that when she repeated it back to me she said roll. She did not offer me another one and was not apologetic in the slightest. While the food is good i would recommend going to the fairfield or any other branch besides norwalk for quality service because Norwalk does not believe in the customer is always right read more

The food is delicious. The prices? About 10 years ago, when I was in high school, it was $5 for a high school special at the Stamford location. You would get enough fries and nuggets to keep you in a food coma for the rest of the day, with enough left over to bring to school the next day. Now? The special is nearly $8. The portions are not even 1/2 the size they used to be. I had to order the Boss special the other day to even begin to approximate the amount of food I would have gotten back 10 years ago. I understand that with expansion comes increased business costs, and the inflation rate necessitates raising the price, but these alone aren't enough to account for the increased prices and skimpy portions. Garden Catering has gotten greedy. The food is still as delicious as ever, but it's hard to justify spending three times what I would normally would have paid 5-10 years ago in order to get the same experience. I miss the old GC, and hope that the owners will revise their pricing strategy, so as to not continue to upset their large existing customer base. read more

let me tell you about garden cartering in Norwalk. First of all they mess up my order, I return a 2nd time to get the new order. Here's a few things I notice for one the girl behind the counter was extremely rude. I believe her name is Valerie. I've worked in customer service for years and never never never in my life return a food product ( that wasn't what I ordered) to get a new order and the cashier be rude to me! HELLO PEOPLE that isn't customer service. she must have gate keepers syndrome because she was acting like it was against the bible to get another order made free of charge. I get back to my work place open up the sandwich to realize that yet again I received the wrong order-____-. I've seen YouTube videos of trained monkeys taking food orders and getting them right. And these people at garden cartering cant get a wrong order RIGHT. I called yet again and the same brain dead person Valerie picks up I tell her what happen and she oh I wasn't fully awake when I pick up the phone. she must be sleeping on the job. the only thing they could offer me was a gift card. Bascially if they mess up on your order and you don't have time to drive around the world that your out of luck is what garden cartering policy is. Not to mention the wrong order for the 2nd time but there was a hair in the sandwich. And Im not surprised because their was a black girl in the back cooking I believe her name is Monica and she HAD NO HAT, OR HAIR TIE on. I've worked in the food business for a while and I know you should always wear a hat or a hair tie. her hair was not pulled back into a pony and again she didn't have any hat on.
