These people's food is very tasty and their cooking area is almost amazingly clean - very pleasaing to see. Parking though, is a bit of a nightmare. Just a few spots on a very busy local highway are shared with several other stores and other drivers don't want to stop to let you parallel park. This place used to be really good. However, they have been very unprofessional lately. I placed an order $51 for delivery. It arrived very quickly and I tipped the driver 15% as always. However the food was so spicy that I could not eat it. I need 2 bottles of water after trying it. So I called back to ask what happened and if she could redo the meals. The lady told me the pepper that she makes it with came in like that and she can't control that. Also she cannot remake for free bc then she would be losing money. Decided to give this place a try from the good Google reviews it has. I ordered the sesame chicken combination with all white meat and Roast pork fried rice. $1.00 extra for all white meat. This is a tough one, I've order from them for the past 20 plus years never a problem until my past order, we ordered egg foo young special, what we got was vegetable as my husband can not eat most vegetables, I called and spoke to the owner thinking I got the wrong order, well all she could do is yell and scream at me, I asked her to speak in a calm voice , she continued to yell, telling us we order vegetables, it cost 1.00 more and she wanted it back, so we did not eat, she sent out correct order, I gave her back the vegetable dish and 1.50. Menu: Full of Americanized Chinese fare that you find in every other single Americanized Chinese restaurant across the country. Service: Take out is always on point; the lady up front is always polite, friendly, professional, and gives free soda cans per certain amount of money spent. Food: Standard Americanized Chinese food, but prepared tastier than others. I dislike Americanized Chinese food with a passion, but their sweet and sour chicken and Young Chow fried rice are dishes I love here. First, they do not cover the chicken in sauce, it comes on the side. So, I usually bath my chicken in soy sauce when I get home, and that with rice for some reason is awesome. And, the Young Chow fried rice here is more delicious than any other place besides Homei Kitchen in Hasbrouck Heights. They load it up with egg, pork, chicken, and shrimp among other tidbits. Bar: None, not sure if it's BYOB. Price: It's your typical Americanized Chinese fare priced at typically competitive prices. You can either be smart and calculate or spend a ton and get a lot of food. It's a shaky 4-stars, but based on the nearby competition, I can't give it less than 4 stars and thank my Yelp friends for the recommendation. Delivery came on time and accurate, and the food was piping hot. Prices were reasonable. The food was good - not the best I've ever had, but satisfying and less greasy than a lot of other places. Noodles still had some shape to them, unlike many other Chinese takeout joints where they cook them to death. They put egg in the chow fun, which was an odd Thai influence, but not unwelcome. Flavors were good overall, not great. I loved the snow peas and water chestnuts dish - I've never seen it anywhere and it was wonderful. It's really weird I tried almost every chinese spot farthest from me, yet never tried this spot that's right across the street! I've ordered from here twice pork fried rice 1/2 chicken. The fried rice is a beautiful brown with chunks of meat very tasty fresh and not greasy! The rib tips we ordered with the bone in for my man(too sweet for me). However he enjoyed it. Next time we will request no added sauce to the rib tips. Otherwise, customer service can be a bit hectic for peak hours, the woman on the phone is definitely a multitasker! I guess it's all in the experience. Price is great and they are not cheap at all about giving you a free soda or two once you spend enough. Delivery was fast and food always hot. Recently moved to the area and began the search for local Chinese food. Tried some other places in Paterson, as well as Fair Lawn. Garden China has them beat. Their food is great, the woman who answers and works the front has always been very nice and not rushed. I've ordered about a handful of different dishes, from the regular 1/2 Chicken and P.F.R., to the Kung Pao, and their Poo Poo Platter to see if their fried foods would be greasy.... All delicious! I have been eating Take-out Asian food for many years, from Elmwood Park, Fair Lawn, Bloomfield, Newark, Montclair and Paterson. Among all the places I've gone in those cities, Garden China in Elmwood Park, NJ is the best. It is a simple as this, consistently superior quality ingredients, well prepared food, fast and courteous service, ample portions, and competitive prices. Food is prepared in a clean, ventilated and well lit open kitchen, and the waiting/dining area is also clean and large. The female manager/owner (no sure which) is polite, funny and chock full of positive energy. She is a treat to deal with. Whenever I have received a problematic order, I was always satisfied with their resolution, the few times it has happened at Garden China. I like that they place all liquid dishes in plastic containers, so they do not run all over the bottom of the delivery bag, and that they do not ration condiments (packaged mustard, hot sauce and duck and soy sauce. The only items I can think of that they do not offer is house special fried noodles, house special duck sauce and homemade mustard....I must ask about that when next I'm in there. My favorite dishes there are: vegetable soup with tofu, vegetable fried rice, broccoli with garlic sauce, house special mai fun, moo shu vegetable, and when I not so occasionally stray from my diet, yang chow fried rice and fried chicken wings. Oh yes, they will happily add or remove ingredient from their recipe upon request. I lived in Elmwood Park for 2 years and gave this place a try one day. I recently moved to Ridgewood and we still make the drive! My boyfriend and I both think the pork fried dumplings are the best we've ever had! All the other standards are great. We usually get a standard chicken (sesame, orange, or generals).
