    Fried dumplings
    Alison K.

Average American Chinese food. General tsos was crunchy and flavorful but seemed like more breading than chicken. The sauce is sweeter than most. Shrimp in garlic sauce was a little bland for me and mostly vegetables, shrimp were pretty small. Pork fried rice was not seasoned/fried enough but had big chunks of pork. Fried dumplings, egg rolls and hot and sour soup were pretty standard. Dumplings were soft instead of crisp, should poke a hole in the container to avoid steaming. Egg rolls were pretty good and crispy. Hot and sour was hearty and loaded with ingredients. Cash or credit, was ready in 15 minutes for pickup. Would give other menu items a shot, but it's not as good as my old Chinese takeout spot (Sunny Wok).

Beyond the food, the overall experience is consistently great. The dining room is clean and comfortable, and the service is exceptionally fast and friendly. They also offer discount days for teachers, seniors, and first responders, which is a wonderful touch for the community.

How does that even happen?! Egg Foo Young: this is actually pretty good from here. Greasy though. Pizza Egg Roll: I'm a fan of these from Kennedy Fried Chicken, but not a huge fan from here. Greasy and dare I say too much cheese? I'm a huge fan of cheese, but it was almost too much and not enough marinara inside the balance wasn't there. This is the only Chinese place in the area that has these. They also have Philly cheese steak rolls which I haven't tried yet (had them at a place in Teaneck though and they were so good!) Chicken wings: well seasoned, but WAY too greasy. Fries: again too greasy. Overall this place is "ok" but definitely not my favorite in Hackensack. Too greasy, but it is cheap.

I chose the pork fried rice and an egg roll. Until I read the reviews on Taste of Asian in Lodi. My mom gets cravings for egg foo young but out of the last 4 places she was appalled. We tried again. Ordered the lunch special pork egg foo young with additional shrimp. Previously, we ended up throwing out the last 4 egg foo youngs because the patties were either super greasy or the gravy had no flavor. Not this time! Mom said this was the best one in years. The general tsos hit just right. Plus, a lot of other places have gotten very sloppy and flavorless with their soups. The egg drop soup hits just right. Next time I'll be bold and see what the wonton soup tastes like. We also ordered the beef and broccoli - a smidge salty one time but perfect the other time. Consistency is key but overall this was a very solid experience This is now our go to for chinese take out.

I don't know if they had new people in the kitchen or what. First off, the white rice was soo greasy! My experience with Chinese takeout is that it's almost always boiled and never greasy unless it's fried rice. This was glossy as all heck. Then the chicken was the biggest let down. It was supposed to be sesame chicken but it wasn't at all sweet. Not only wasn't it sweet, it was downright BAD. It was bitter and tangy in the worst way. The flavor made it difficult to eat. It also seemed like the chicken had more filler than actual meat. I don't know how the quality went so far down in a short time. Never again. Unfortunately, we will not take a chance ordering again. This is our last time. Update: Within a couple of hours ny husband got violently ill with food poisoning. It didn't just taste bad, it actually was bad and contaminated. Horrible!

Instead, I found a clean, efficient dim sum spot with surprisingly good food. The self-service concept worked really well. You order at the counter, pick up your own food, and there is no tipping. I actually like this system because at traditional dim sum restaurants you often spend more time waiting for carts or servers than eating. One thing that really impressed me was the cleanliness. The restaurant isn't newly renovated, but it's well maintained. After each table left, the staff cleaned with fresh sanitizing wipes instead of using the same cloth over and over. They also serve everything with disposable plates and utensils, which personally gives me more confidence than reusable tableware that isn't always cleaned thoroughly. The food was consistently good. The lotus leaf sticky rice was fragrant, the rice noodle roll with fried dough had a great texture, and the Teochew dumplings were generously filled. The standout dish was the stuffed trio. The shrimp paste was fresh and springy, the fried tofu was crispy, and getting eggplant, tofu, and green pepper on one plate made it easy to try a little of everything.
