So New Blue Sky is a typical hole in the wall chinese take-out. The apps we ordered were a bust but the entrees were good. We tried the steamed pork dumplings, the fried wonton, and egg rolls. None were remarkable, noteworthy, or worth the calories. I ordered a chicken with black bean sauce and my son got the general Taos chicken combo. Both were pretty good. So if you are not big on ordering apps this place might be right for you. Unfortunately so so dumplings just doesn't cut it so our hunt for a good chinese take-out local place continues. On a positive note New Blue Sky Chinese is so far the best of the local places we've tried but that bar isn't very high. The portions were generous. read more

We wanted to try a local Chinese restaurant, and found this one with good reviews on Google and Yelp. Easy to order online. We ordered a small lol mein, a ho fun with chicken, beef with garlic and a mapo tofu. Great delivery service. The food was neatly packaged and warm. The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. On this cold winter Thursday evening where no one wanted to cook, we ordered at our local go-to place for Chinese takeout. I placed the order for chicken udon soup, General Tso's chicken and chicken with broccoli. Being healthy conscience, we had our meal with brown rice instead of white or fried. The person on the other end told me 15 mins for the pick up. I got to the location only a few blocks away around the designated time. This takeout is a small store front with no tables but very busy around dinner time. While waiting for our pickup, there were 4 calls and one person waiting for her order. The kitchen staff were working on the orders like in an emergency room. We found their food to be fresh and tasty. read more

Always good food. Always nice to customers. One day I went in to place an order. While I was there it started to thunder and rain. The owner came out with an umbrella to walk me to my car in the pouring rain to get my wallet (which I had forgotten in my car) and then later walked me back out to my car again after I got my food. Can I give it a million stars? Best Chinese food ever. Okay, maybe not ever, but really damn good. Very consistent. Good service. Good prices. Free soda for orders over $11. They actually have some pretty unique things that I haven't seen on most Chinese menus. Take a look. French fries are actually awesome. Surprising number of vege options, if that's your jam. Definitely not a spot to come and eat in but the food was good. Their French fries were really good I ordered a small but I should've gotten a large. Vegetable lo mein didn't really have any vegetables but it was still good so I'll roll with it. I'll order again and see how things go. read more

The quality of the raw ingredients here is very very high, especially for take-out Chinese. Prices are also very very good. They used real roast pork for the pork with garlic sauce, not deepfried bits of whatever. The flavours are a little lacking however, especially in the spiciness department. It's not much, but if you like very flavorful Chinese you will be disappointed. Portion size is a little on the small side (a lot of vegetables), and I would rather pay a dollar or two more (bringing them up to the standard prices for the area), and get a little more food. Service is very good. I will certainly order from them again. $10 min for delivery read more

So I called to place an order for delivery because who wants to go out in this cold weather?? Nice lady answered the phone and immediately put me on hold for two minutes not on a actual hold but more like put the phone down so I was able to listen to a bunch of noise for TWO WHOLE MINUTES. It was pretty annoying..I much have rather had her put me on mute. No idea what she had to do but once she picked up she asked if it was for delivery or pick up. I began to tell her for delivery and the address, and placed my order. She read my order back to me and the address to make sure everything was correct. Told me about 45 minutes..an hour later finally got my chicken & broccoli delivered. Not as hot as I would like it to have been but considering the roads are filled with snow I will give them another try another time again. My chicken and broccoli was warm.. Delivery was free, no issue into Clifton. Ordered online, no fuss, and directions were followed without issue. Two dinners, the curry chicken and shrimp (something) fun. Hands down worst Chinese food I ever tasted so much so I took a few bites and threw it out! The lo mein had tons of garlic. The amount of garlic was enough that it stunk up the whole first floor of my house. So disappointing. I couldn't tell you what the egg roll was like because I couldn't bring myself to taste it but my husband took a bite and there was not much inside of it. Never again. read more

Ordering was simple, quick, and friendly. They got our order to us quickly. The delivery driver shook my husband hand before handing over our dinner. No one has done that, ever. Best wanton soup in Bergen county. The place is not very big and I always order delivery. There always prompt and the delivery guy is the nicest person you have ever met. New Blue Sky gets 4 starts from me. They are incredibly reliable. The food always arrives on time if not sooner than expected (and the driver... drive a bicycle!) Always friendly and very welcoming. Food arrives hot and well made. Always fresh and not too greasy. We trust our "Jewel St. spot", as we like to call it, for lazy days at home when we crave Chinese. i live in paterson, it was a $20 minimum, and that had me iffy but when i got my fast delivery and a 24 fl oz bottle of pepsi i was like wow, theyre damned good. i didnt even feel bad about the minimum. not to mention since i moved from ny and lost my favorite chinese spots i have to say this place is up there with their wonton soup!! arghhh.. also the beef waS GREAT, with the beef and broccoli and the broccoli was not over cooked it was fresh and crunchy. my bf got the general tso's chicken which i also sampled, it was crunchy and yummy. and the beef lo mein was banging! thats my favorite and they surely did it right! i would recommend this to anyone seeking answers about good chinese food in this area OH YEA and they had the red chilli pepper sauce i love that i havent found here in nj yet. read more

Everytime i decide to try a new place i always regret it. This experience is one of those examples. I ordered from this place because i am not a fan of my usual spot's general tso, and i saw some fool praise this place's general tso. plus everyone had good things to say. i just dont get it. this place was pretty gross. the cheese wontons were NASTY. the General Tso was literally not edible! Disgusting hard as a rock and for the pieces that werent rock hard it was all nasty dark meat inside. The kung pao was ok at best. it was edible but not good... only thing to save the day, and to save it from a 1 star review was te chicken with garlic sauce which tasted pretty good. which was the only thing. so out of $25 worth of food $20 of it went in the garbage as nobody wanted to eat it. So we decided to do what we should have from the begining and we called east wok. it was my idea to try new place and i feel terrible for doing so. such a waste of money literally throwing money in the garbage.for the people who order from here and actually enjoy it. maybe they dont know any better, maybe my usual place just spoiled me and my family for chinese food because everywhere else is terrible. My mom thinks they use old oil and that is the reason why the food was bad. And she could be right. bottom line is the food was bad. so beware. read more

Some of the best beef curry I've ever had, spicy but subtle and full of flavour. The spare rib tips are like beautiful bits of candy. I've ordered from them loads already and they're always on time or earlier, and I live a few towns away. Those little cookies they throw in are delicious as well! Maybe it'll do for you, but, for me, I've had much, much better. First off, as you'd expect with most local Americanized Chinese restaurants, this place can sure use a makeover. Honestly, it almost feels like a health risk every time I have Americanized Chinese food anywhere because some spots can look sketchy and Ya Food might be teetering on that border. I am glad to report though that I am 100% healthy and the food was fine. As for the menu, it has all of your typical favorites - Chicken and Broccoli, General Tso's Chicken, Egg Foo Young, etc., etc., etc. The menu was pretty typical of all Americanized Chinese restaurants. My wife and I decided to take a chance and we came here to order a few lunch specials and misc. items: Chicken with Mixed Vegetable Lunch Special Egg Foo Young Lunch Special Beef with Black Bean Sauce Lunch Special Pork Dumpling Hot and Sour Soup Typically, when we order Americanized Chinese food, we order from the Lunch Special menu and, shockingly, the prices were pretty much on par with other restaurants we had been too when we lived in NYC. From 11am-3:30pm, their lunch specials go into effect for anywhere from $7.15-$8.00. In addition, their lunch specials come with white, roast pork or vegetable fried rice and a choice of wonton, egg drop soups or an egg roll/soda. So, the prices are reasonable, but, unfortunately, the food was blah. In no way, am I expecting a 5 star meal, but the flavors were just off. The Egg Foo Young itself was fine, but the sauce for it did not taste good. It definitely was not what I have been accustomed to. The roast pork fried rice with our specials were OK. As for the soups, wonton, egg drop and hot & sour - all a real disappointment. All of them were watery and not very flavorful. Like I said, I don't expect a 5 star meal when eating at such an establishment, but I would expect better flavors for what it is. Americanized Chinese food is sort of my guilty pleasure and there was no pleasure eating the food we ordered. I'm hoping this was a one off and I might give them another shot, but there are also plenty of other Americanized Chinese restaurants in NJ that I would like to give a chance before coming back.
