As dingy-looking of a Americanized Chinese takeout restaurant as you'll EVERRRR find in your life, but some of the food is very much passable. Located in the busy Broadway District in Fair Lawn, Great Wall was anything but great-looking. Everything about it screamed "dirty". Unfortunately, I ordered online my very 1st time here, so I had no idea what it looked like. I had an inkling based on Yelp reviews, but no idea really. The menu here is as typical as it gets for these type of takeout restaurants. We ended up ordering a small Beef with Mixed Vegetables, 2 orders of the Fried Dumplings and 1 large Hot & Sour Soup. First, the Beef with Mixed Vegetables was OK. The beef was cooked through, but the corns inside had a little bit of a funky taste. Surprised? Not really. The highlight for me from here, if you can call it that, were definitely the Fried Dumplings and Hot & Sour Soup. Honestly, they were some of the better Fried Dumplings I had ever tried from an Americanized Chinese establishment. Also, the Hot & Sour Soup was decent and had some actual sour-ness + heat to it. Great Wall is what it is. It's hard to get by it's appearance and you might think you're counting your blessings if you survive eating from here, but the Fried Dumplings and Hot & Sour Soup are ACTUALLY good from here! read more

Does this place look a little dated and questionable .. yes. Is the food good, ABSOLUTELY. The woman who handles the orders is very sweet and accommodating. I've ordered numerous times and every time I've been happy with the dishes. Some are better than others but not one dish I thought was bad. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in, and my order was ready. I paid and left. When I dug into my meal, I enjoyed the shrimp and broccoli with brown rice. It was filling! Ordered ribs and beef on a stick normally I am happy with this Chinese restaurant. This experience was horrible. The ribs had sauce but it was not baked on it felt like they rushed. They did not taste right and the meat was very chewy. The Meat on the stick was ok not as good as use to get. My wife ordered the Chow Mein and it was watery she was very disappointed. Quality at the Great Wall went from very Good to dumpster food. The shock of the poor quality has put this place on my never again list. read more

My family enjoys take-out meals we get from Great Wall. They are tasty and portions are adequate. Sometimes we feel like getting fried chicken and rice, and they offer this dish here. We have also had their shrimp in lobster sauce, chicken and broccoli and wonton soup - all good. The wontons are never mushily overcooked and there's a pleasing amount of meat in them. When we find dishes that a takeout place cooks well, we stick with that selection, on the principle of not trying to fix something that isn't broken :-). We usually order and then pick up to be sure our food arrives fast, and hot. We've learned to give them whatever time they ask to prepare our dishes, as otherwise we might be waiting a bit. read more

Everything here was honestly average. I do have the say that it is cash only and I wish I knew that before ordering. We ended up using the machine there which comes with a change. The staff and nice and the place looked clean. The good was to be expected. The portions are given in styrofoam contains instead of reusable plastic ones. Great Wall is our go-to take out restaurant. We order here about once a week at this point! The lunch specials are amazing and the perfect size. I always get the shrimp and broccoli or shrimp and mixed vegetables. The bourbon chicken, sesame chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce and beef sticks are also favorites in our family. All are photographed in the attached photo except for the shrimp eight lobster sauce. Sweet and Sour Chicken also photographed. Dinner often comes with soda as well!! The delivery is quick and great. Decided to order take out from here for dinner as the usual time spot I order from us still closed. We decided on a couple of dishes. They had run out of eggplant in garlic sauce and the restaurant called to let us know it was out and provided another option. The wait for delivery took a little longer than expected but the food was definitely worth the wait. The honey chicken was cooked perfectly with a delicious honey glaze over the crunchy chicken. I had ordered the beef with broccoli and shrimp with broccoli combos with pork fried rice and egg roll. The portions were good and proportional with an even amount of food and fried rice. The orange chicken was delicious and you can def taste the citrus on the chicken. Overall it was a great meal, and we would definitely be ordering again! read more

I have been living near this establishment for 25 years and never tried the food. A couple of weeks ago I said to my husband let's give it a try. I am so glad I did. Tonight I ordered Moo Shu Pork. My husband and I have never had an issue with this place. We've been customers for five years or so and they've never disappointed. We usually get chicken and broccoli, chicken or pork fried rice, chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken - never had a complaint. Bonus: they are the only Chinese restaurant in the area who sells tostones (major plus) so we won't be going anywhere else. The owners are also very friendly. read more

The food here was really tasty. The General Tsao was really crisp, saucy and just perfectly cooked, the fried rice was a little yellow maybe in need of a little soy. Pros: Their shirmp rolls and their wonton soup are very good, and they have an awesome delivery guy. Cons: Anything else I've tried from them is not bad but not great, but most significant is that two orders in a row they messed up my order and argued with me over the phone. The second time, I just wanted to refuse delivery and get my money back that I had just trustingly given the guy, but the lady who answers their phone and apparently runs the restaurant instructed the delivery guy not to give me my money back and that (I kid you not) I should come see them. To me, that's pretty horrible business, and people don't need that kind of hassle. I think the delivery guy communicated with his boss just how displeased I was and that it might well impact their business with others at my workplace, because later she tried calling me (I hung up) and they sent something in a bag for me which I just immediately threw away without even opening it. Honestly, if it were a single occasion, I could let it slide. It was rude and unprofessional, but life happens and people have off days. But one week an order and then the same issue the next week, plus refusing to refund me and take back the food? Maybe a change of heart only after realizing they might lose more than one customer over it? To me, on principle alone, that strongly suggests that this is just a place not to be recommended. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS DUMP This is not Chinese food this is microwaved nonsense. We just ordered rom Great Wall to our office which is directly across the street from the restaurant and it took 50 minutes to arrive. It arrived ice cold and was terrible. Asked for cop stick for three people since we ordered three lunch items and they gave me two spoons and two forks. Everything was mushy and had no taste. I would not recommend this place unless your dog is hungry. Owner is not very nice either but what would you expect from a Chinese take out joint. FN Awful !!! read more

One side effect of the never ending lockdown is the continuing search for good Chinese food delivery. Our newest favorite is Great Wall. Delicious, well prepared, and efficient delivery make them winners. Some examples: boneless spareribs are moist and tender, not greasy and very tasty; the crab Rangoon is addictive; fried rice and lo mein noodles, basic standards, are also not greasy with clean flavors and nice seasoning. Reasonable pricing and quick delivery add to the reasons to give them a try. This will be our local go to for the foreseeable future! read more
