We love Garden City! Everything we have ever had here is delicious. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. My father is in hospice and asked for haddock. I RAN out to get him the meal he wanted. I ordered 3 meals at Garden City Pub. The next day I see I was charged $135 as opposed to the $67 for my bill. I called and was told the owner would get back to me. The owner called me 4 hours later and told me I had to wait until she investigated. That she didn't "get my money that I'm claiming Ibwas charged!" That I had to wait a couple days. She was SO incredibly rude. I can't even believe the phone call with her. Heartless, cruel human being. read more

Good food, good drinks and good service. We always sit at the bar and gaze at all the alcohol that will soon be in our stomachs. Wine selection is good but could be a lot more thought out and better. Something has changed as we went for dinner with my niece and spouse and the waitress was rude staring at our niece who has downs, we ordered beef nachos and were brought plain nachos and when we asked for beef nachos she brought us a plate of steak tips and asked if we wanted them spread on the cold nachos? Went early (6 pm) and was surprised we got the last empty tiny table. First impression was the awful smell, like a kosher dill pickle. Tables were so close waitress couldn't get to the next table to pour water. Coco nut shrimp was overcooked, onion rings were okay. Pasta dish was enough for two, chicken broccoli penne. Good and certainly not over garlicky. By 7 there were plenty of tables; seems they get a lot of music theatre business now that Danversport is closed. Hot Hot Hot!!! No air conditioning and the owner told the hostess not to tell anyone. We didn't notice it was 85 degrees inside until after we had ordered. Our kids were red and sweating buckets. Dangerous for small children to be in a place so hot. It would be a common courtesy to at least inform people that your establishment is an inferno. Obviously the owner has no class and just wants to profit as much as possible. With 2 small kids we would have gone somewhere else for the evening. We had to take our food home as soon as we got it. My husband and I enjoyed this restaurant. We only had appetizers and drinks, but the were excellent. The scallop wrapped in bacon where very good, and the 1/2 order of nachos could feed 4. Went there last night on a date. I have lived in Beverly pretty much my whole life and have somehow never been here. The restaurant was absolutely packed and the service was really good. The food was good, not amazing but tasty and considering how busy they were it came out pretty quick. I should have read the reviews before going, I would have gotten the tips that everyone seems to be raving about on here. I am just very picky about steak tips and hate spending the money and being disappointed. I got a chicken teriyaki sandwich with a baked potato. Both were tasty, chicken wasn't overcooked and potato was big and soft. Next time I go I will try to the tips to see if everyone else was spot on with their comments. read more

Love this place. Food is good, place is clean, and prices are reasonable. But, honestly, we have always found the service to be great. The first couple of times we went in, we happen to get the same waitress. She was friendly, showed a personality and was helpful. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff is really a key to success! If your looking for a place to go to Garden City Pub has great food all the food is fresh made to order and not a long wait for your food the salads are big enough for two people. My husbands favorite is the twin lobster with either french fries or onions with cold slaw and its under $20.00 filled you so much you need a fork to eat it. I haven't have a bad meal there and we have been going there for about 4 years . Everyone is friendly and very helpful they also have specials every night including Saturday and Sunday . If your eating in the dining room ask for Mary she is awesome. If you sit at the bar depending on what night you might have Angelo for a bartender he makes the best drinks. But you need to know it doesn't open till 4:00P.M. every day give it a try you'll like it. read more

Love this place! Very set back, so hard to know its there! Started coming here about 7 years ago, and I must say the service has gotten so much better since then! The food is delicious, as well as the drinks! My go to is always the raspberry martini and the chicken tortellini. My husband and I ate at Garden City years ago and it was good. We decided to have dinner at the bar tonight, not knowing it was their "soft opening" after being closed for renovations. That explained the weird service.....way overstaffed with servers that had to be flagged down. Our bartender Tammy was awesome. It was obvious she was the only one who knew what was going on. We had a couple drinks and ordered apps....the calamari and the sauteed artichokes. The calamari was OK, standard frozen rings. The artichoke app was so caked in garlic it was inedible...mouth still feeling the one bite I ate!!! We decided to cut our losses, have dinner at another restaurant and give Garden City another shot in the future.....mostly because of our bartender. That soon changed when on the way out I mentioned to the manager the "garlic issue". Having worked in this business for over 20 years I was shocked by his attitude. He cared more about the sound of his own voice, defending his kitchen and then making sure a customer left happy. read more

Garden city pub does have good food but I learned tonight that they are not family friendly . I made the mistake of bringing in food for my 2 year old because they don't have kids menu and because he's a picky eater, I have done this on numerous occasions. I totally understand that I shouldn't advertise other restaurants but when I asked if it would be ok to bring a sandwich or something I made at home that was shot down too. The owner kind of laughed as she told us embarrassing me and making me feel very much uncomfortable! I have been eating here since they opened and tonight will be last time. I'm ok with not bringing food in for 2 year old but I'm not ok with be embarrassed like I was. So a good restaurant if you have older children or no children at all. They don't offer anything for children and to be honest I think they would prefer you didn't bring young children there. read more

The food is pretty good if you can deal with the bartender. He thinks he is all that! Sometimes he thinks he is in the movie Cocktail. He flips the bottles, shakes the martini like he is on stage. Pretty annoying. We asked if they could do a half order of potato nachos like they do a half order of regular nachos. He checked with the kitchen and said they could. When I received the check it was $9.95 which was the same price as the full potato nachos?? When I questioned him about it he said the kitchen said to charge the same price as the half nachos which is $9.95. Since when does the kitchen denote the prices? So I paid the same price and only got a half order. Whats up with that. He is a piece of work. The staff is the worst part of the restaurant. We have sat at tables as well, and have not had great results there either. It's too bad because the food is good, but we don't go often because of the staff. read more
