I scheduled a winterizing appointment weeks ago and called ahead the morning of the appointment for an approximate time window. Unfortunately, the technician was a complete no-show for the scheduled window. After waiting two hours past the expected arrival time, I called the office back. I was told the delay was due to a "scheduling issue" with the driver. When I asked why no one had called me to inform me of the delay or cancelation, the representative had no answer. I expressed my frustration at having wasted my entire morning and having to now wait for a new rescheduled two-hour window later in the day. Instead of offering a sincere apology, the person on the phone became defensive and clearly unhappy with my feedback. Ultimately, she hung up on me. My time was wasted, the service was never rendered, and the office staff demonstrated appalling, hostile customer care. I strongly recommend finding a different service provider that values their customers and practices basic professional courtesy. read more

Poor communication from office and during appointment from technician. Office supposedly unable to provide window of time, and instructed to call the morning of when the office opens at 9 AM. My friend referred this company to us but I had a terrible experience with them. The technician talked a lot and charged every minutes he was here. he didn't diagnose the issue and suggested to replace the timer because it is "old". After replacement, he did not test whether the problem was resolved and he didn't promise it will work either. Sure enough, the water was on forever when it timer started. Another technician came and fixed the problem, another new charge. Hopefully the problem will be resolved this time. I will not use them again. This irrigation system is supposed to be a simple system. Does he has to replace everything to fix it? read more

Installed sprinklers last fall- very quick from contract to installation. Overall did good job. Opted for the remote control system- it's confusing and not easy to manage in the app. Always get a timely response with emails. Would recommend this company. read more

Rarely do you find such a knowledgable person about the land and area they are working in. Greg and his team are highly professional, fun to work with and willing to share information that does not make them more money. I was offered other solutions to some of my problems first and if that didn't work to call them back. I would not recommend. I set up an appointment a month ago for today. They text me a confirmation last night saying the tech would be here between 10:30 and 11 am and they would text before they came. They never text and at 3 pm I called the office. They informed me that my tech had called out and now the tech wouldn't arrive until between 5pm -7pm. I burned a day off of work for this and I asked to speak to the office manager. They gave me her vmail. To her credit she called me back but did not apologize and seemed to generally not care. I asked if they would give me consideration on my bill for wasting my time and costing me money in the day I took off for no reason. She just said no we don't do that. So I canceled the appointment. If you never need a scheduled appointment with an irrigation company and are ok with minimal care given to your property, then this is the company for you. Otherwise, proceed with caution. Garden Irrigation recently installed a new irrigation system at my home. During the initial appointment with Gregg, I shared plans to install a porch and a pool. Because I brought this up, he showed me where the plumbing access would be located so it could be reached each spring and fall. However, he never mentioned the placement of large plates on the ground as access panels in the front and back yards. I'll get back to this later in this story... About two weeks after the initial appointment, I receive a call from their office at 4pm stating that someone would be at my home the next morning to work on the plumbing and I had to be home so they could access inside the house. Really? I can afford an irrigation system because I work a full-time job, so giving less than 24 hours notice is unacceptable so it was rescheduled. A few days later, I see a man walking around my property with no notice. As I was about to talk to this person, I get a call from the office that Gregg is at my home. He forgot that I rescheduled the plumbing and came out to put flags up to mark the sprinkler heads. This is supposed to be done just before the sprinkler install but since Gregg didn't want to come back after the plumbing was completed, he told me to cancel my landscapers that week so they didn't move the flags. No regard for my time or the inconvenience that caused me but fine... I mowed my own lawn that week around the flags to accommodate Gregg's schedule. A week later, two people came out to install the plumbing. The office told me it would take a couple of hours for the install. I specifically asked how long it would take because I had to let my job know when I would be available to work. They arrived at 8:30am and left at almost 1pm! After they left, I called the office to see when the sprinkler heads would be installed. After several calls because no one was calling me back, I finally received a date/time. The day of the install, which was a Monday, they were supposed to arrive first thing in the morning. By 10am, they still weren't here so I called the office. I was told that they didn't finish a different job on Friday, they had to go their first to complete it, and they would be at my property by 1pm. Seriously... No communication, even though they knew on Friday that they were going to be hours late to my property. They finally arrive to start work. All of a sudden, I see the men in my backyard with an axe and a nupla... pulling roots out of the ground from an old and gorgeous birch tree in my yard!! I called the office to talk to Gregg about it and they said Gregg would call me back. I ran outside to talk to the men about this, and they said a few roots wouldn't hurt the tree. Are they arborists? Do they know this for sure? Once they left my property, I examined the yard and it was a mess. I had to put top soil all over that entire section of the yard where they were pulling roots, along with new grass seed. Then at 9pm that same night, my doorbell rings. One of the men lost his keys and they wanted to walk through my yard to see if they could find it. I even had a neighbor stop by because he was concerned that it was late and I was alone with strangers around my yard. The next morning, the office calls me to say someone was coming out in a couple of hours to walk me through the system and to pick up the remainder of my balance. WHAT??!?!? I WORK A FULL-TIME JOB! And the first time I get a call from them is for payment, but they can't call to schedule appointments and show that they respect their clients' schedules? I told the woman on the phone that I wanted to speak to Gregg because he never returned my call. He got on the phone and I mentioned the big plates on the ground. He told me if I watched the video they sent me, that would have solved a lot of the problems. Seriously? He was with me for the sales call. As the owner and salesperson, he should discuss all aspects of the job so there aren't any surprises. That's HIS job. And when I told him about the roots of the birch tree, his response was, "Well, you signed a contract stating that we aren't responsible for any damage done to trees, shrubs, lawn, etc." Gregg then told me he would come to my house on the following Monday, almost a week later, to inspect the work that was done. Shocker... he never called and never came to my home. The job is done and the sprinklers work, but I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. The technician didn't shut the main indoor hose bib valve off which lead into broken piping and leaking on back yard for couple of days. I called several times and were no response and finally, the owner refuse to fix the piping. read more

After using another company for 15-20 years (many problems but didn't know who else to call), I saw this company at the Home Expo in Raritan Center. I called them and decided to start using them this spring. The first visit I was very impressed - the tech came in a uniform, truck with the name of the company, and did a great job of opening my system. I then had them back this week to re-do one of the zones in my backyard. Again, the service was outstanding. They worked this past Tuesday in horrible weather, but did a great job. Poor professionalism! The crew will advise you to give a call to the office and give them your credit card number and charge you 89$ for the first 30 minutes. After 30 mins will charge 60$ every 30 minutes even if it is only 15 minutes over plus the parts 3-5 times the store price. I could have use them for some time but i was harassed verbally by the crew and the customer service and the admin are rushing you of the payment no breather at all even if i told them i will check the bank first to verify why. NOPE! the crew was whining!!! The office staff was freaking nervous not get paid even i was requesting for few minutes to verify. What a business! You are scaring away your customers!!!! They arrived as scheduled and completed the project in one day. The team was so nice and left my yard immaculate. They set me up with an awesome APP so I can modify my zones and watering schedule. I have not used them in years. I just seen one of their trucks in my neighborhood and it reminded of how unpleasant my experience was. Two sprinklers were defective and it took weeks for them to return. I called a year later for another repair (which was my fault because I hit with shovel) and spoke with female manager or employee. (Can't recall name) she was rude and condescending. I wrote an e-mail complaining and never heard back. I know two other people that has issues with them. I now use TA sprinkler in Old Bridge. They do quality work, are very accomadating, and reasonably priced. As far as I am concerned Garden Irrigation gets no stars but I has to put one or I could continue my review. In fact they owe me two stars plus the one I had to give them. read more

Stay away. We have been using them for more than 10 years. Shutting off and winterizing our system. This year came to turn our system on and it didn't turn on. Did a couple of hundred dollar repair which did not fix problem and then found a frank leak after repair. Then they said needed their plumber to repair that leak. Still billed for repair that did not fix problem. Repairmen gave estimate for leak which then came in 200 more from office. Repair scheduled with plumber and company never showed despite repeated phone calls. Asked for owner to call which never happened. When called a second company to fix leak it was 1/5 the price. 100 as opposed to 500. Also they said the reason the pipe cracked was clearly that it wasn't winterized properly. Garden irrigation winterized it. So not only did they create the problem by not winterizing properly, they then billed 200 for a repair that did not fix the problem, then had vastly different estimates for the actual repair still to be done and the did not show up on the scheduled day of repair. Incompetence, unethical, and just bad business on multiple levels. I will never go back! read more

Extremely Unprofessional Company with no sense of Customer Service!!! You take appointment, as a courtesy rather than calling you and giving you the time slot when the tech will be onsite these folks ask customer to call a day before the appointment to confirm the time (SERIOUSLY THATS A CUSTOMER FOLLOWUP) and if you are not in contract they will deny any appointment so argue.. ABSOLUTE YES! A neighbor suggested I give Garden Irrigation a try when we had our inground pool built and our entire backyard was in shambles. We met the owner Gregg who gave us great suggestions and solved all the problems we were warned of when building a new pool. What I really appreciated was that we had to keep moving around our appointments and they were very easy to deal with. Of course my husband appreciated that we were given a fair price for the work ( we called 2 other companies) but we felt that Garden Irrigation put our minds at ease that everything would be done right and there were no surprise costs when they were onsite. Should be zero stars. Have only had the system for a couple years and a pinhole leak shows up in the copper fittings. Due to the fact I did not have THEM do the evacuation for the winterization, it is my fault and no warranty. I told my wife they would say that before they did and lo and behold, here it came. Called the main office to speak with the "salesman" owner who sold me the system and basically was told "oh well", pay it or they leave. No customer service aspect at all from them. I was yelled at over the phone and then was told he was sorry that I think he was yelling, but he is really busy with many things. NO, a business owner juggling many things, LOL. Will never do business with them again and I will definitely tell people to STAY AWAY. Once they have your money , it is all on you. read more
