I never cease to be amazed at how incredible this wonderland is. I had to go by to replenish a gorgeous cactus planter that I've picked up there 5 years ago - it literally was one of the bright spots in my home during Covid - And even though my work hours were keeping me later than their time of closing, Mari graciously waited for me and we spent the next half hour making my planter even more stunning (she graciously added in a few extra small cacti since the ones I had were flourishing and space allowed, and a few gorgeous geodes buried deep in the white stones - it's breathtaking.) While she was finishing it up, I wandered around their back garden area - and again was just reminded at how extraordinary it is that this oasis exists right in the middle of the city - it's literally like a small national park with all the fountains and waterfalls and stunning Landscaping - And just needed to again remind anybody anywhere between Burbank and Santa Monica - if you love stunning landscaping, gorgeous stonework water fountains, waterfalls, and breathtaking architecture... You absolutely have to stop by this extraordinary haven. On a sidenote - the owners love to stock up on handcrafted hand poured artisanal candles, soaps, and lotions, from the same shops that are stocked in five star resorts... But at half the price!!! We live near San Jose and took a chance on calling David @ Garden Temple to see if we could get a fountain installed. We were in the midst of a backyard remodel, deck and a rock and succulent garden design. We realized we would love a calm stream sound coming from a water piece. David was educational in terms of what to look for, good practice for plumbing etc. He was willing to come to up to San Jose to install the rock based fountain. We had to get our landscape guy come in and dig the hole, run the water and David and his guys came in an put the concrete in and then placed the rock in place. They were able to do it without supervision. Overall we are very happy with the result now that the rest of the garden is done the fountain sounds great. read more

We compared GT with a few other places, and while GT is a bit more expensive, it's not a real comparison because you simply can't find what they have anywhere else. I've been wanting to stop in Garden Temple for quite some time now but hadn't got around to it. This weekend while my son and I were out on an afternoon walk he reminded me and we ventured in. Serenity! is one word to describe this place. I'm not sure exactly what I went there looking for but they had TONS of succulents and I adore succulents! The prices were about double what Home Depot and a couple other nurseries sell the same size for but I equate this to them being located on Ventura Blvd. They aren't Home Depot and they aren't a nursery so it made sense to me. My son and I did pick out a couple new succulents to bring home. The woman who worked there was very sweet and came out to say hello to us as we wandered around the back and even mentioned she sees me running by all the time - like I suspect most businesses along Ventura :) since that's our workout route. She was very nice and gave me a little tip sheet on how to care for the air plants I have at home that I am attempting to save and hope I haven't ruined. I'd definitely recommend Garden Temple if you are looking for a nearby to pick up a succulent garden as a gift. They also have many other wonderful items. If you're looking for a fountain which I know absolutely nothing about - might as well stop in here to take a look too! They have a TON of them. read more

Serene spot on Ventura Blvd. We stopped in last weekend after snagging cupcakes at SusieCakes and beverages from Le Pain Quotidien. Mari Mills was very welcoming and took time to answer questions / make suggestions regarding air plants for Dear Daughter and I. Discussing care of unusual plants while surrounded by the soothing sounds of water fountains was a restful experience. We wandered through the interior portion of the shop, then enjoyed the tranquility of the garden spaces out back. We learned that Mari and her husband had made the changes over time, creating the garden area from scratch. Many inspirational ideas to consider for one's home garden or even office space. The prices for air plants were generally in line with what we've seen other places. Maybe on the higher end, but that comes with personalized service. We were invited to wander at our leisure. My wife and I are very pleased with our experience with Ashwin at Garden Temple. Always courteous and patient, he thoroughly answered all our questions ( and I do ask a lot of questions). He even took us to the offsite storage yard, on a rainy day, to look at newly acquired boulders. Due to rain, the installation got pushed out to a date that we'd be out of town. But at that point we trusted Ashwin so much, we were comfortable with him proceeding in our absence. He sent us pictures throughout the installation, to make sure we liked the placement and orientation. Sure enough we were very pleased with the results. Would highly recommend. read more

This place is tranquil and zen-like and completely overpriced. I think the woman manning the store was in a rush as I came in close to closing time but she was helpful nonetheless. This is much less a plant store than a pottery store and I think more people should be aware of this before heading over. If you want a fountain or a planter at a healthy mark-up then, by all means, this is your Mecca. We love dropping in to the Garden Temple after brunch or lunch at Le Pain Quotidien. A fountain is so peaceful and 50 fountains are 50 times as peaceful and that's how it is in the huge garden out the back. It's fun to stroll about or sit on a bench and just chill while the kids run around. One of these days we'll actually buy one of the many great fountains on display but until then we'll keep dropping in for our fountain fix. In the store there are plenty of smaller items that make perfect gifts- plants and pots and little statues and stones. read more

Unlike the other reviewers, I've not yet made the trip in to see the store. As a builder, I have, however, worked with David to install a large copper jug water feature that my customer picked out. This isn't really a nursery. I stopped in this morning to check out what they had and the salesperson was unfamiliar with what types of plants were available in the shop. She did suggest another spot for me to visit, which was helpful, but since this spot seems to focus more on fountains with little knowledge of the succulents they have in stock, they might want to brand themselves more appropriately. read more

This place is so peaceful and gorgeous and amazing! I've been wanting to go in for years and finally was in the neighborhood and needed a plant. I'm so glad I went there instead of a regular nursery. This place is loaded with all sorts of cool fountains and other things for your yard or home interior. Since I live in an apartment, it's not really high on my "go buy things" list, but the layout is so peaceful and cool, I can't resist stopping in. Whenever we walk up to breakfast at any of the nearby restaurants on Ventura Blvd we always make a stop at Garden Temple to stroll through the little paths in back. There's rarely anyone else there, and the sound of the pouring water is very relaxing. I have wanted to get a fountain from here for more than a decade. And now I have two! The quality and craftsmanship of the fountains sets them apart. They install the fountain for you which involves a lot of digging and running ware and electrical. They also will do maintenance on the fountains. That is a plus! read more

I came here to get a plant for my boss to present to a co-worker. The lady who was there was so helpful. She even replanted the plant she helped me pick and beautified it. When I landscaped my backyard a year and a half ago, I wanted a water feature that would be a focal point. I went to their San Juan Capistrano location and was overwhelmed by the choices of fountains. These are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. They are hand-chiseled, stone pieces of art. My wife liked them so much that we bought one for outdoors and another for indoors. The owners, Mari and David, were very helpful before and after my purchase. Although I do not have a service contract with them, they have responded quickly to all of my maintenance-related questions. David and Mari Mills along with their business are awesome! They sell stone cut ornamental peices (ex: high end fountains, ornamental benches, sanctuary peices, etc.) Please check them out. My better half and I stumbled (literally) into this business during a trip to LA. I was capture by the beauty of their location and the gardens they have set up in the rear of the building. Their products look fantastic! The art involved in creating the pieces clearly identifies them as high end, well made products. The fountains, potted plant towers, benches, rock walls, and other pieces would definitely help anyone create a wonderful park, garden, or private area. I went to Garden Temple to get supplies to fix my fountain. I was helped by the nicest young man, one of the owners, who told me what i needed to do to fix my fountain. No supplies from his store were needed. But he spent a good amount of time showing me how putting the pump inside a cinder block would solve my problem, and what kind of pipe and connector to get. Excellent service, sweet man. He did not make a cent off me, and still helped me with his advice. read more

Had our second Garden Temple water fountain installed and couldn't be happier. Extremely careful and precise installation. Everything possible was attended to and the site was left, with great care, exactly as it was before installation. We're considering where else on our property another fountain can be added. We had to consider the drought conditions, but these fountains continually recycle the water and seldom require any addition. Its a pleasure to deal with the professionals of Garden Temple. Well deserved 5 stars, unique products, gorgeous show room, outstanding professional service

We recently moved from Encino to Brentwood after building a new home. A very important component of our landscaping was the fountain by the front door and just outside my office window. The water sounds were just as important as the look, which had to be very natural. We searched from Santa Barbara to San Diego (even New Mexico) for just the right look... unsuccessfully. Everything was either ultra-modern or very pre-fab looking -- from spheres to cookie cutter faux Italian. By happenstance, we were at a neighboring business who directed us to Garden Temple. We were instructed to ask for Dave or Mari, which we did. Wow! Dave listened to us with a keen ear and would not suggest anything until he completely understood our wants and our budget. Once he understood what we needed, he suggested that we go to their factory (up the street) so we could all see if he could help us. At first we were overwhelmed with the design and material options, but after 30 minutes or so of walking around he showed us the perfect materials and described exactly how they would create our dream fountain, which they did. To create the finished product, they split two tons of basalt, honed and polished the inside cuts, drilled the length of the columns and mounted them on a 14" deep self filling reservoir base. This was back in May-June 2015. What prompted me to write this review after all of these months? About two weeks ago, I received an email from Mari, reminding me that I was overdue for my fountain service that I prepaid nearly a year ago (when I checked my junk mail, I found a couple more reminders). I had completely forgotten, but Garden Temple had not. They had absolutely nothing to gain by alerting me to the fact that I had missed my maintenance because there were to be no more payments. Moreover, Dave and Mari came all the way to Brentwood to look at the fountain to make sure that, when the service person came the next day, he would be prepared and would be able to do the best job possible. They even extended my prepaid maintenance to make sure that I did receive a full year (without me asking). I happen to be a stickler for quality, but just as important, service.
