Dr Tarlow seems like a very competent doctor. In fact, he ordered tests that found my Stage 1 Colon Cancer. The BIG PROBLEM is his Extremely Rude front office staff. Somewhere along their career they learned it was okay to speak to his patients like they're Oz and we are mere mortals. After 5+ years of being his patient his office staff emailed my wife and berated her about an appointment we missed. An appointment we knew nothing about. She copied and paste and said some derogatory things because we didn't recall or knew anything about. She told my wife she wanted $30-40 for missing said appointment before we make another. On another occasion they withheld my blood pressure medication until I had blood tests done. There is no professionalism....Thats how they inform you it's time to come in for a visit - When you need your life saving medication most!! There is something very wrong with that don't you agree ?!!! His staff exhibits no compassion, no grace, nothing but combative Rudeness. I will not be back. You're a good doctor Dr Tarlow but you can't be great with a front office staff that treats your patients like they're scolding them. I will not be back. Thanks for finding my cancer. This is the worst customer service doctor that I have ever dealt with. I am certainly getting a new doctor not because of him, but because of his receptionist and his office staff, they completely don't really care about you and they sound bored and like they hate their job. Sr Quack Tarlow does not follow up, does not care about your health and if you call him on it he will call you to lecture you on how he does not live to work and how his personal time is far more important to him than your Health. Dr. Gardner Tarlow makes you feel like a person, not part of some big medical system, he's more like the way the doctors treated patients 30 years ago. He takes time to talk to you. -You usually can get in to see him without waiting months. -Once you are seen he takes the time to talk to you. - He gets your referrals done quickly. - He seems genuinely concerned. - His staff is very nice. Note: Entrance and parking can be tricky to find. You park in the back next to Tierra Marie coffee and enter the gates at the back into a courtyard. I had a bit of trouble the first time, but after that, it was very convenient to where I live. read more

Dr Tarlow has been my doctor for almost 10 years now. I've never had any issue with him or his staff, they've always been great. Dr. Gardner Tarlow is a decent doctor, however his office staff and professionalism is horrible. This is now the 2nd time that I've had a billing issue with this office where they code it incorrectly and I'm billed for the wrong amount. I have then chase down the office manager to have her fix it and that is a job in itself. Also they are way behind the times... nothing is electronic, they do no take credit cards and they make it impossible to cancel your appointment. You can't leave a message and only call when it's convenient for them. So then if you no-show they charge you a fee. read more

I've just moved back to the OC from Las Vegas . I picked Dr. T just because he was right down the street from my new residence He's been my primary doc for a year now. I have several chronic illnesses, the main one is heart failure. He has given me good advice and recommendations. I went to him last week for a new issue. I had conjoined bumps st base of my neck that hurt a little and just bugged me. He prescribed an antibiotic and said the bumps were nothing serious abd would be gone in about 4 days. Shout out to DR. Dr. Tarlow is double booked until the 15th is what I was told when I tried to make an appointment today. After letting them know I had went to an urgent care center yesterday for my heart beating irregularly. I really think problems dealing with the heart need to be taken a little more seriously. Dr. Tarlow was great. I was referred by a friend because I just recieved my new Insurance plan and needed a new Dr. I found the staff very friendly and helpfull setting up my appointment. I just finished my my initial visit. He was very attentive and listened to all my issues. I was referred out for several tests I needed and will be seeing him again soon for the results. I have been a patient of Dr. T's for 5 plus years now and I love the staff, they are very friendly and helpful. Dr. T is great he is very knowledgeable and takes his time listening to his patients. Over The years he has helped me manage my back and foot pain by teaching me different exercises Vs over medicating myself. The office is clean and well put together. Despite the difficulties with making an appointment, dr Tarlow is an amazing doctor. He's very thorough and talks to you clearly about what's going on and answers any questions you may have. His offices hours can be a bit inconvenient, as well as the wait time, but I like Tarlow and will continue using his office. read more

Dr Tarlow has been our family physician for over 10 years. We find him to be kind, caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. We never feel he is trying to rush us or push us out the door. He is always willing to address our issues and educate us on our options for treatment. His office is always clean and the staff always tries to get us an appointment that fits our busy schedule. Unfortunately, over the years we have had to see a specialist for corrective surgeries. Dr. Tarlow has always found us the best of the best! Avoid this practice at all costs. The doctor will see you for at most 15-minutes and then try to rush you out the door to see the next patient, and guess what you'll have to pay you co-pay again for his 15-mins or time. Although he might not be a bad doctor and might actually know his stuff the way he treats his patients and the way he has his staff treat his patients is what what will likely ruin his practice and shut down his offices in this area. read more

I have been coming to Dr. Tarlow for 5 years, he always goes above and beyond. I very rarely have a wait and am generally in and out of the office fairly quickly. I like that he tells me like it is. No sugar coating whatsoever. He takes his time to explain things so that you are fully aware of what is going on. Just today, he came back to his office after leaving for the day so he could add something on to my prescription. That is a great doctor. No they don't. take credit cards but really is it that big of an issue? They just moved to a bigger office and it is a little more modern than the last one. read more

I am not giving the MD a review as I did not meet with him. I received a call stating that my appointment was today and I called to let them know that I had the appointment for another day in my calendar. I explained that I would be a little late because I had to move my schedule around to accommodate the visit when I thought it was a different day altogether. I who showed up 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment time of 3:45. (In fairness I was a first time pt so I knew there would be paperwork to fill out). When I arrived I was told it was impossible to see the MD...when I asked if I could at least speak to him to get an order for lab work to avoid a 3rd unnecessary visit I was told no. The MD was not even asked if this was ok. Note there was one person in the waiting room so it was highly unlikely that I would have put the schedule way out of order or behind. Being able to see the DR for 5 minutes could have saved me a separate trip altogether. Disappointed that there was no attempt to even check with the DR to see if he could accommodate me. read more

I found Dr. Tarlow through my insurance provider and have been a patient of his for over a year now. The office is always very clean and the staff is always pleasant. I hate sitting in the private patient room and waiting long periods of time for the doctor to see me after having vitals taken. I'm pleased to say that he is very prompt and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes! I always come prepared with a list of my concerns and questions. Dr Tarlow is extremely attentive and always takes his time when determining issues and fully explaining the root causes, symptoms, treatments and making sure all my concerns are addressed. He has helped with my chronic back pain, anxiety and all other concerns I've had. He even provides good recommendations for other specialist and is always spot on with what I should expect at those visits. Dr Tarlow is very knowledgeable and one of the best doctors I've ever had! I visited Dr. Tarlow as I was having some extreme knee and joint pain. As a former hockey player and still active person I was concerned about some possible long term damage I may have done. Dr. Tarlow took the time to go over all the symptoms I was having and thoroughly examined my knee. With his assistance and with his network I am on my way to a full recovery. I found the office to be very friendly and courteous. Dr. Gardner Tarlow is very rude my wife,son and brother-inlaw have been patients of his and his Dads office for a few years now. My wife and son were in an auto accident we asked his Office Manager Paula who by the way is so unprofessional if the copays can be waived because there $20-30 every visit and my wife and son are not working right now due to this accident. She said I will speak with the Dr. and the other persons Insurance and get back to you. When she finally did it was the day of their appointment and Paula stated the other drivers Insurance (AAA) said there insured is not at fault and will not pay. I called our laywer and he put me on a 3 way call with AAA agent he stated to me I never told her we would not pay we will its our insureds fault. I called her back and she was busy or out of the office. Several days passed and Paula never returned my calls and I asked to speak with Dr. Gardner Tarlow he called me back at my office and stated Im a busy man with alot of patients and that his office manager Paula did explain it to me that they dont do leans any more. I told him she never said that or I would not be calling every day to speak with her. He said I dont have time for this conversation im a busy Doctor. Why would I be calling eveyday to get an answer if she told me no? Im busy too at my Doctor office as well, I guess his staff is right on what they told me the other day, that he always belives in what Paula (Office manager ) say and she is always right. The receptionist are so rude. They seem to reallly hate there job and they charge you a fee if you dont show up to appointment even tho they called me to tell me that i couldnt be seen beacuse of my old insurance. You would think having a phone call from them would be clear enough that i wasnt going to show but they fee you anyway since i didnt cancel it myself. They canceled my appoinment for me and i still get fined??? . So dumb. The doctor is nice but i have a bad experience with the front desk everytime. I will be seeking for a new location. read more

Dr. Tarlow had always been a really nice guy, but he is really hard to get ahold of. The office has stated hours, but no way to contact our even leave a message over the weekend. I was unable to make my early Monday appointment due to a cancelled flight and being stuck in Seattle. I called several times over the weekend, and the morning of before my flight in (the appointment time was during my flight), and his office staff was uncaring that they do not provide a way to cancel or reschedule that. I was told either pay extra for a no show fee, or I could wait 2 days to call to speak to the office manager, and then I could reschedule. After that she was very condescending and rude to me, and when I said I would consider not returning to Dr Tarlow she said with a lilting [laugh], that that works for her. How disrespectful for the office of a "Health Professional." I don't recommend dealing with this office, especially if you have any chance of a scheduling conflict. I will never be going back there. You don't deserve my money or my insurance companies provision to staff disrespectful people that have no business working in the public care profession. read more
