We spent a long time in the store laying on and testing mattresses and ultimately chose a Sealy/Tempur‑Pedic. Unfortunately, our experience with the salesperson significantly hurt our trust. We were told two separate things that later proved to be incorrect: That Sealy/Tempur‑Pedic would not allow the mattress to be purchased unless we also bought a $380 base. That failing to purchase a mattress cover would automatically void the 10‑year warranty. After reviewing the actual manufacturer warranty, neither of these statements is true. The warranty requires the mattress to be used on a proper foundation and to remain free from stains, but it does not require purchasing a specific base or mattress protector from the store. I'm posting this to encourage others to carefully verify warranty claims directly with the manufacturer and not rely solely on what is said during the sale. Ordered a Kitchen Table and 4 Chairs - it took almost 2 months to arrive. All the furniture came in one box with literally 500 pieces that had to be assembled. I have bought furniture online and at IKEA where there was customer friendly assembly required but this was definitely factory level assembly that was needed. To add insult to injury a chair was damaged and even though I paid for the warranty / service plan GW refuses to replace the chair free of charge. Please do not shop at this furniture store, they sell JUNK!!! We bought a sofa over three years ago that had a defective cushion, could not be repaired. So they agreed to take the sofa back in exchange for another. So we bought a more expensive sofa two years ago, dual reclining. 18 months in and the motor died on one side so no recliner. We submitted a claim to their extended warranty repair service. AHM has been trying to get this repaired for three months now. The first scheduled service date, the guy had called in sick, A month later he was sent to the wrong address( even though the part managed to arrive at the right address). and a month after he showed up but had to leave after three minutes because of a family emergency. So now they are asking we wait another month for service meanwhile half of my couch remains unusable for 6 months. Order a new table and chairs. One of the chairs has an area that the stain didn't take well. Pointed it out the delivery person and was told to contact customer service. Customer service came out and said they would order a new back for the chair. Went to the store a week later and was told it would be 14 to 16 WEEKS before a new one would come in (Hopefully). My boyfriend and I stopped in Saturday to look at furniture for our new home. The store itself was very busy and all the associates were busy helping guests. Rosa was very friendly and greeted us and let us know there will be a wait. No worries, that gave us plenty of time to look over the show room. We were on the hunt for new living room furniture and proceeded to sit on neatly every set they had. We found several we liked and Rosa came by to check on us periodically and told us about the current sale and deals. While we didn't have any plans to make any purchases this particular day, we ended up putting a deposit on a sectional to get the sales price and current deal. Rosa wasn't pushy by any means. We didn't feel obligated to purchase anything. She was able to answer all our questions- even let us know if we would be able to get delivery since we're moving to an area nearly an hour away. We had a non memory foam mattress for over 20 years and decided to purchase a new mattress. The salesman consistently pushed us to buy a memory foam bed saying it was much better. Well, that is definitely not the case. Now, less than one year later, we are experiencing very uncomfortable sleeping, back aches, etc... We were never told it was for side sleepers. We are not. We went online and chatted offering to just obtain a discount if we returned it and bought a new non memory foam mattress (attempting to be reasonable for the junk we bought), however no discount was offered and basically told no thank you. After thousands of dollars for furniture, kitchen, living room, bedroom and more, no reasonableness. Well, say good bye to this very rich buyer. So far, this has been my worst experience purchasing furniture in my life. Went into Gardner White to purchase a new modular sectional sofa as a gift for my wife. On floor sales were friendly, although lacking detailed knowledge of the pieces I was interested in. I ultimately found something she would love, paid cash for it that day, was told some pieces were in stock but should expect delivery within a "couple weeks" and went on my way. A couple of weeks went by before I reached out to inquire on an expected delivery date. I was informed that my items were on back order and I would be contacted when the items arrived. A couple of more weeks passed. I then again reached out to Gardner White's customer service to inquire on expected delivery. I was again told that my items remained on back order and that I was basically at the mercy of the shipper/manufacturer. Fast forward another month (now at 8 weeks since my original purchase) and I was contacted to set up delivery. Delivery day came, the crew were polite and professional but noticed halfway through assembly that one of the seat backs was shipped incorrectly. The delivery/assembly crew made a report, took photos and told me I would hear from customer service within 30 minutes to set up replacement. Instead, I reached out after 2 days of hearing nothing. I jumped through all of the hoops to get someone scheduled to come to our home and "verify" that we did indeed not receive correct pieces of the sofa, which took another 2 weeks. The service tech arrived and was immediately frustrated that he was sent to our home for a 2 minute visit to verify what had already been confirmed via photo and phone call. On February 1, we were given an estimated delivery date for the week of February 16 for the incorrect piece. On Friday February 21, I reached out to Gardner White customer service yet again and am now being told my incorrect piece now has an estimated arrival date of the third or fourth week of March. Nearly another entire month. That brings the entire experience from walking through Gardner White's door to having a complete piece of furniture to 16-17 weeks (provided our piece arrives). Meanwhile I have an incomplete sofa in my living room with pieces I cannot use. We have been more than patient with the situation, but now this is ridiculous. Why has the communication been one sided Gardner White? How does a company your size and with your previous reputation not have the ability to manage customer service or your logistics better than this? We decided to walk in and look around. I went towards the bedroom area, and a woman greeted us. She offered us help if we need it. You can tell they make sales, but they try not to be too pushy on you. They stand near a computer, or have someone that works with them near one in the area. This is so that if a customer has any questions or concerns, they can get help right away. I liked the pricing on the packages on their furniture. The male and woman had great customer service skills, and we explained we didn't need anything any time soon. We just wanted to seek out options. They both understood that we wanted space and left us to look at items, allowing us to reach them as well if we needed it. This made me feel more comfortable because I don't like feeling suffocated. I wouldn't recommend GW to my enemies. I bought my leather couch love seat and recliner from them. My couch and recliners color faded and needed repair. The recliner was fixed the first time by their after care warranty. They have been out 3 times to fix the couch and having to come out a 4th time. I went to the store and they claim it's no longer their problem. I pointed out that they selected the warranty company. The stitch lines do not line up between the seat backs. The head piece is out further than the other two pushing your head forward more. The back leather piece was put on with major wrinkles as well as exposed staples and some tearing due to being stapled and pulling staples so many times. No matter who you call you get sent to someone else. This has been going on for a year. My furniture was delivered on three separate dates. Once I received the last piece i noticed that one of the previous pieces back side was scuffed like it had been dragged on cement. GW own repair guy came and told me it should be replaced. I called GW service and they told me I was past the date to complain. I explained it was bc I waited for all the furniture, to be delivered. They told me they would repair, add a little dye but not fix the scuffs or I could get a new love seat but that would void the extra protection warranty I had purchased, for all my pieces. A nightmare from the day after they took our money. Stay away!! Every tech has told me what they should do to repair but GW, or their warranty company, keeps sending pieces to fix. I have been told they should replace it or bring in the entire back section and not pieces. They put it in their reports and take photos. Nothing changes. This was the worst furniture buying experience I have ever had. I have shopped at Art Van, Gormans. Value City... this place is terrible. They lied about the delivery date at the time of purchase. 2 months later, I have to call them week after week to check status, as they string you along by claiming they'll provide weekly updates. They then texted and called me about the delivery, scheduled it, nobody showed up the day of, nobody called... I had to contact them to find out that the item was "damaged", with no detail on what was damaged, where, etc. Seemed like a complete lie. Then I get put back into the loop of calling them and being given the weekly run around again... Everybody is facing the pandemic, everybody has supply issues; the issue here is honesty, communication, follow through, consistency, and ability to honor a commitment to the customer. Bought some miscellaneous items at the Hall rd location. It was like the old Ollie Fretter store where 15 sales people swarmed you and then Tom told us his name and followed us all around the store. We picked out about 5 smaller items and it took us 3 hours for him to figure out how to place the order and added additional items and screwed up the order. Tried upselling us $150 on stuff we didn't ask for and the sales 20% is a scam. They do the old bait and switch and then need to run things past the manager. Then after a week our stuff arrived and my wife received a text at 11pm from Tom asking if we received our stuff. Since when is Gardner White working at 11pm? Lost our business and to be honest we bought 2 amazing Ashley brand automatic recliners from Amazon with free next day deliver and inside install and setup. We took my mom here when she needed a new mattress. We were greeted promptly by Larry who took his time with my elderly mom and showed her a few choices that would fit her needs and budget. After trying the selected mattresses out, she decided on the perfect one to fit her needs. Since she has difficulty at times with her balance, he suggested a lower profile foundation so she could sit and touch the floor when getting in and out of bed. As my mom was finishing up the purchase process, I was able to sit there for a few minutes and watch the hustle and bustle of the other employees taking care of customers and every person there was not only busy, but professional as well. Yesterday I went in to get a bedroom set for my new home and asked about getting a mattress first before looking at any thing else, was met by their employee Patty, extremely rude and down talked me and my wife the whole time. Acted like we had no money and kept over talking us just trying to upsell us the temperpedic. Spent $1800 here on a dresser and media cabinet. I bought because it was solid reclaimed oak. When delivered the workers were rushed and rude. They flew out before I had a good chance to look the pieces over. I was new to it and regret signing the papers before they left. They left a mess, a total mess on my floors and did not speak English. Their shoes left dirt stains that took hours to get out. I called the next day to tell them I found scratches and stains on both pieces. The customer service was absolutely the worst- the woman on the phone literally yelling at me that it was my fault and nothing could be done except wait for a month for someone to come out, telling me I was basically stuck with what I had and I'd be lucky if they even considered replacing them. I spent another $1700 having the pieces stripped and restained by another company because I was so annoyed at her yelling and disrespect. The manager sent out someone to review the couch and they agreed they needed replacing. However we got an email after they agreed to the replacement they were now not going to honor their word. I have purchased from this store in previous years and had a good experience, so I didn't think it would be any different this time around. My fiancé and I went in September 6th and purchased a mattress and were told it would be delivered by September 11th the latest. In fact, that was repeated to us numerous times by the salesmen prior to even actually saying we would like to purchase it. We filled out all the information to have financed, and were once again told we would have it before the end of the next week- he even gave his personal work number to be contacted if you we have any issues. So the 11th comes and goes, and we call because we have heard zero updates- you can't get ahold of anyone, so you hold for customer service which takes an ungodly amount of time, (and you speak with someone who isn't even at that location) and they told us by the end of that Current week we will have it. So another week goes by, we call the personal salesman number- and no one answers AND you can't leave a message, so we call customer service AGAIN and are told yet again.... end of the week. So more time goes by and I receive a call last Wednesday saying our mattress is in and can be delivered the next day, I explain how that does not work for us because we were leaving for out of town and asked for Monday. They tell me that actually Thursday (the day they just said) would be best.... I said again... we will not be home and it has to be Monday (wtf?!) so they agree and tell me Monday is set for delivery. So Sunday night we dismantle our current bed to prep for delivery. Monday rolls around, I was never notified for a delivery time frame. I give it some time and then decide to call and ask what the deal is. Yet again, you cannot speak to a human. We called the salesperson, the delivery area, and customer service, after trying for about an hour, we speak with someone who let us know that our mattress was delivered- I explain to her that I needed to speak with someone from that store immediately because this is unacceptable. She said she would have someone call me shortly. I waited about an hour before I just drove up to the store myself and waited for someone to help which also took an unreasonable amount of time. In the meantime, our salesman realizes he knows us and proceeded to try and help. We were there for about an hour and told that everything was handled and we will have a bed the next day. Well the next day came and we were told delivery is 6-11PM (ridiculous) then later in the day we are told delivery time changed to 9:30pm-12:30am - Is that time frame a joke??? And then we see it says we will only be receiving a bed frame and box springs- NO MATTRESS! We call the store instantly, got lucky and someone answered and told us that the mattress isn't even in stock until middle of October and there is nothing they can do. My boyfriend purchased a bunch of furniture to outfit his home - leather reclining sofa, dining room set, master bedroom set, children's bedroom sets, tables, lamps, etc. They sold him an extended warranty for another $700. His leather sofa fell apart within the first year. The seat where he normally sits popped a spring and leather looks totally worn out. He's not a big guy and isn't rough on his stuff. Ordered an item on line. When I received it was not as expected. I was told to return to the store. The order was 189.00. I was only refunded 100.00. I was charged a 25 % re stocking fee for an item I never saw. I also was charged a 42.00 delivery fee. This ridiculous that Gardner White charges this. No company charges restocking on on line orders. In the web online orders I talked to a very rude lady Maryann. She said there no one else I can be transferred to and continued to be rude.
