I came here as a new patient and saw Dr. Robert Schoenberg. Overall, the service was good and Dr. Schoenberg is clearly very knowledgeable. You can tell he's passionate about his work and has decades of experience. His communication style is a bit "lecture-like," which can feel very direct if you're not used to it--he'll point things out and state facts bluntly without much softening. It took me a moment to adjust, but once I did, he came across as genuinely helpful and informed. He mentioned that this is the oldest business in Pomona, and the office definitely has that classic, older-clinic feel. The glasses selection also reflects that--with there being a very small and dated selection. When I couldn't find frames that fit what I was looking for, he was understanding about it. Overall, it's a very local, old-school type of practice. Dr. Schoenberg is quite the character--someone you'd expect to see on TV more than in everyday life. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Doctor Schoenberg (Dr. Bob) regularly for over 35 years. He has kept us seeing well by taking the time to do the proper testing and when needed, come up with the proper prescription to give us the best vision possible. If the testing or our own personal observation shows a minimal change Dr. Bob leaves the decision to us whether we wish to get new prescriptions or not. Dr. Bob keeps detailed records of each appointment so he can review past visits to see if there are any noticeable changes to our vision. His office is simple without a lot of frills which allows Dr. Bob to concentrate on the important reason that we have come to see him for all of these years - to take care of our eyes! Worse service ever!!! Multiple problems from the start, doctor tried to upsell me. Then when i got my prescription glasses they gave me transitions glasses which i never asked for. Then on top of everything they mailed my glasses to me, it got stolen and they didnt even bother insuring it for the full amount that I need to buy a new pair of prescription sunglasses. Don't go they continuously make mistakes and then keep blaming medi-cal even if you have regular insurance. read more

Seriously, the WORST experience I've had since like, ever... I made an appointment a week prior and was "scheduled" on tuesday at 2pm. I showed up around 1:45 and was asked to fill out a generic paper copy of a basic "optometry" form that asked way too personal questions (ie. do I have acne, my income, height, weight ect.). I filled it out then gave it to the woman in front and she said I was not scheduled for an appointment and then she said they would make an exception and let me be seen today... errr.....wot?!?! I was literally seen by the doctor for less then 5 minutes and he simply asked if I liked my glasses because he personally thinks they look ugly on me and they offered "much better quality frames". --TOO BAD ALL OF HIS FRAMES ARE PLASTIC--- Anyway, his frames are not quality glasses and are a generic brand you can get on ebay for literally like $10 if not less. This lousy doctor quoted me on glasses for $300 out of pocket which include my insurance deductibles and what not... WTF? Am I buying Prada? NOPE. I then continuously told him that I was not interested in his product because I can find higher quality glasses that offer the anti-glare / scratch warranty for $120 FLAT and he got upset about it and REFUSED, yes... REFUSED to write my prescription because he was "too busy"... Um, excuse me? After my insurance paid your low-budget office you're going to tell me you're too busy because I don't want to give in to your salesmen ways and buy a cheap pair of plastic Chinese glasses? WOW. So, insulted. I literally left the office at about 6:15 because he then """had time""" to write my prescription (I was waiting in the lobby and continuously was pestering his assistants for my paperwork). Frauds and very pushy , unprofessional, tried to say we had already chose glasses from their very old selection and they were on the way to the "LAB" I had very clearly said I would go check other glasses out and they told me they would be closed on Wednesday. That was a lie , after going back and forth with the worker I called the insurance and finally let me pick up my sons prescription the same day they said was closed ?! Lol .. I made an appointment here for my 4 year old son. I should've listen to the other review. The Dr. was good but what I did not understand if why he kept trying to talk to my son in Spanish when I clearly talked to the Dr and my son in English. I get it a few words here and there because it's obvious we are Mexican but the whole time. Seriously? Don't get me wrong I wasn't offended but if I, at no point spoke to him in Spanish why bother? Secondly they have no designer frames. They are all frames you can buy online on E-Bay for like $10-$20 not $130 like they were trying to charge me. I informed them I didn't like any of them but my son liked some that looked like Ray Bans. So she grabbed them and put them on my file. At the end they were trying to collect a deposit I said its ok I had to talk to his dad. At that point I asked for the prescription. She denied my son's prescription saying the Dr. was with another patient but once we get the frames in 2 weeks she will get me a copy. Hmm no! I left really upset. I know they have to give you a copy. Sure enough I go home and researched and ITS THE LAW. They cannot deny you a copy of their prescription. I am going back to get it and if they still refuse I will contact the Federal Trade Commission. People the LAW states YOU MUST get a COPY of your prescription whether you decide to purchase glasses there or not! 2 stars because the staff was nice and had patience with my son. read more

I had an appointment with them the last week of October 2018, this doctor is so unethical in his business practices and as an ophthalmologist that it is frightening. He is not a doctor, he is a salesman, and should be reported, which I plan on doing immediately. The ophthalmologist is not there to provide subscriptions and care for patients, he is there to sell his glasses and contacts, like a drug dealer sells crack. He basically told me if I don't buy from him, contacts and glasses, I could leave. He is getting away with this because the majority of his patients are low income underprivileged amazing individuals who don't know their rights. Do not go to this doctor. He talked to me about 45 minutes pushing his products and pressuring me to buy his products and if I didn't like it, I could leave. I saw many people coming in and out making payments on glasses????
