Maybe we came at an off time but it was you typical underground bar with high tops and a dance floor. There was a pool table in the back, which was nice. There wasn't really a lot of air flow though so it was a little bit stuffy and smelly. Drinks were reasonably priced at $9 a cider. Nice place to stop by but maybe not stay a while. read more

Been to Garfinkel's multiple times from out of town and it's always dead even Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. No hate. The one in Banff is awesome, Whistler's could use some work. The bartender failed to inform us that there was no tonic and gave us the wrong beverage. We then told Dev (bartender) that the drink was wrong (it was a gin and soda) and he charged us for another drink. We then went to another bartender and told them what happened and asked for another drink and they failed to address the issue. Just make sure you double check on the right drink if you actually choose to go here. Highly recommend Banff. DJ was good and kind this night. The gin beverage was served wrong two nights in a row with no resolution. read more

Fun nightlife venue which was generally more energetic, yet decidedly one dimensional, compared to Buffalo Bill's. Bottle service staff was fun, accommodating, and not "fake nice" like you usually find at most American nightclubs. read more

This lousy excuse of an incredibly dangerous bar needs to seriously reconsider the safety of their patrons. I, who had not been drinking excessively whatsoever (2 or 3 beers over 4 hours), and a group of friends had lost another friend for over 40 minutes (the group had split and each group thought this friend was with the other group). We searched the entire jam packed bar (which was very obviously OVER capacity) and couldn't find her. Come to realize there's no signal in the bar (it hadn't occurred to me that there wouldn't be signal as all the other underground bars have signal). I go to the stairs to try to get signal to see if I had heard from or could contact my friend and I was greeted by a belligerent bouncer yelling at me to go back downstairs or get out. I tried explaining I'm just trying to get signal to find my friend and he said "then get out. I don't fucking care." By this point some of her texts had come through saying they wouldn't let her in without us as we were all part of a pub crawl (first time in history I've ever had to wait in line for entry on a pub crawl. What was even the point??) so I decided to leave so at least she wasn't alone. I find her and go to them and say the exit-bouncer (who was 6 feet away from them) just saw me leave to collect my friend and asked if we could re-enter. They were immediately belligerent and yelling at us about the ridiculous line. So we explained that was fine but then we just wanted to collect our friends so everyone was together and safe (the part of our group downstairs didn't even know I had left as I didn't realize I would have to LEAVE to just be on the phone). They were swearing and screaming - automatically assuming I was some drunk diva. I asked if someone could escort me to retrieve my friends. They told me no and to just text them to come up. There's no signal!!! They began telling me that if I don't leave they'd call the cops even though I was standing in the sidewalk the other side of their barricade not talking to them anymore and except when they would yell some ridiculous nonsense at me (simply standing where I hoped I may be able to get a text sent through to my friends downstairs) Truly an appalling experience. I was basically begging them for their help and they had absolutely no respect for the safety of their patrons I fully comprehend that they probably deal with a lot of drunk crazy people. But, having a perfectly clear head, myself, and trying to deal with them really has me worried for the safety of anyone who attends this bar. Perhaps they were panicked as they had very CLEARLY exceeded the allowable amount of people and had created a huge potential risk incase of fire or other potential problems. But when people are begging for help, especially potentially vulnerable people, they should try to see those people for what they are and not assume that everyone is just a drunk jerk. read more

Went here for my buddy's bachelor party. We had a good time but there were some things that need to be addressed. 1. The Gestapo security standing by our 15 person table and watching us like hawks all night. You guys aren't subtle and it's a bad look for the club. 2. Leave the bottles at the table. We had to wait 20 min between shots with 15 guys at a stag. 3. To the security guy in the bathroom whose job it is to look over the stall at guys while they shit, I saw you confiscate cocaine off someone in the bathroom and then pocket it for yourself for later. Drinks are alright, but the music is terrible and the bouncers are not on their A game, to say the least. DJ kept remixing totally random songs that don't fit together in the slightest ("Take on Me" by A-ha and then "Love Story" Taylor Swift???). Don't expect to be entirely safe from creeps, either, because the bouncers can't take initiative until they get the green light from the manager to lead away anyone who's causing trouble. The stress of waiting for a resolution can totally ruin whatever fun you were having. read more

Would highly recommend staying away from this place. Paid $8, staff was not welcoming or even slightly friendly. I ordered 7 tequila shots & some Vegas bombs and while a bartender was pouring the tequila another bartender hands me a paper that says "$20 drinks minimum".. not sure if the bartender could do the slightest bit of math but I was clearly buying 7 shots + shots that equaled well over $20. Rude staff. Was forced to check my coat and was not allowed to get it. They were not attentive and the service was truly bad.

The bartenders are great, but coat check staff are absolute jerks. If you lose your ticket, prepare to be treated like a criminal (even if you know your number and can describe every detail of your coat). I would understand mandatory coat check in a city with any amount of violence, but in a swanky ski village? Come on. Security staff was also unnecessarily rude. I wish they would re-train or replace these staff, then this place could be fun again. read more

Terrible management. The General Manager Paul Stoker is unprofessional and rude. I was wrongfully put on the bar watch program through out all of B.C, when I did not do anything wrong. I then email a letter to the establishment trying to kindly ask to be put off of the program and explain to him that I was no where near the incident he said that occurred. I sent in the nicely explained thought out letter and he replies back saying "fuck off". The bar watch program was created to keep out violence and gang affiliation out of clubs/bars for the safety of the general public. Not to use whenever they feel like and accuse someone of doing something. I am baffled at the way Garfinkel's management handled this situation. read more

The first time I went here there was free cover before a certain time. My group arrived before that time but they held the line until it passed that time - then we were forced to pay cover. The second time I went here, the bouncers accused me and a couple of my friends of stealing a bottle from the bar 'because we were the only ones standing near the bar.' I tried talking to the bartender about it (who I bought drinks from AND gave him a good tip), but he was being extremely rude. After several minutes of arguing with the bouncers, they realized we weren't the ones who stole the bottle. Extremely unprofessional; avoid this place. read more

Place is terrible. Staff is rude and don't expect to talk to a manager or any senior staff if an incident happens. Person at the door said 8 dollar cover, waited to get in turned into a 12 dollar cover...ok...whatever I guess Paid it anyway to chill and dance...but nope not with this staff. Make sure u know someone here or have an inside connection. After waiting an hour to get in, within 30mins a drunk girl and there party bumped into us and we got kicked out? My friends and I went here for college weekend. Place wasn't too busy, cover wasn't bad. But in the middle of the night they randomly came up to me in our large (30-40+ people) group and said exclusively to me that I was being kicked out despite doing nothing as we were all sitting down. Visiting from out of town? Don't bother coming here. The clientele is rude, aloof, and just all around awful to be around. I brought my boyfriend out to Whistler for the weekend, we went here for a drink the first night (Thursday) which is apparently locals night. We stood in line for a solid half hour so that the locals could just walk in and out at their leisure. The staff just didn't care they had paying customers waiting. Dress code is nonexistent, for some reason street clothes with a backwards cap or beanie is appropriate for everyone. A couple of these 'locals' started ganging up on my boyfriend and I, starting a fight because they had the indecency to grab my ass. The security did nothing because "They didn't see who started it". This club was awful. DJ was extremely rude and aggressive towards myself and my friends for no reason at all. To the point where we felt uncomfortable, threatened and had to leave. This place is trashy and I love it! The first time I entered this dungeon I was blacked out wasted...it was a good night. If this place has a line then you know it is poppin.' This review is for the DJs only. I read a lot of the reviews were for the staffs and coat check. Luckily, we did not encounter that. A group of us went there sat night for some dancing. Boy, did we get our dancing in. The DJs were phenomenal. The music was very diverse; reggaeton, top 40, house. They played different varieties that catered to their audience. They sure know how to keep the crowds moving. They need to come to Seattle. read more

Boy . . . . did we have fun here!! We arrived kinda early, but there were already people dancing and taking up the benches and tables up against one of the walls. There are also pool tables. The bar is huge. It's a big square in the middle of the place, so easy to get a spot if you want to yell for a drink. Crowd was mixed - not too young, mixed races, various age groups (admittedly, the vast majority were in their 20s and 30s). The music was better than at Buffalo Bills, not so techno-y. Think more KTU (ie, take your favorite Taylor Swift song and mix it with a club beat). Cool to hang for a while. read more

I never got inside Garfs. I was about to enter the main room with a group of friends when we realized that one of us was missing. 'Ruth just got forcibly removed.' What? Turns out somebody let someone in through the side door and the bouncers thought it was my friend. Instead of asking her what happened or asking her to go back up stairs, they grabbed her by the collar and under her arm and *through* her out. Two of our friends who were outside attested to seeing her fly alla opening sequence of 'Fresh Prince of Bel Aire.' This was at the beginning of the season and we all boycotted it the rest of the winter. There are two many clubs in Whistler to be treated the way we were. read more

The whole time I was standing by the bar trying to buy a drink but the bartenders were not paying any attention towards who got there first and that I kept getting skipped. Even flagged them down and they ignored me. Ended up not getting one drink the whole night. Not even water. Also, thought I was about to pass out because of how hot it was in there. At least have some fans going and a hydration station because obviously the bartenders are too busy to even give you a glass of water. I have been attending this club for my birthday and my friends birthdays for over 3 years. But this time, everything changed. The DJ was the worst DJ in the world. He only cared about looking like a hunk in front of the girls. He wouldn't play: -prettygirls by birtanny spears -HOT HOT HOT by pointer dexter (honestly would have been an awesome song to play, it's super up beat. Worth checking it or if u haven't heard it ) -fire ball by pit bull (okay maybe isn't that good but still it was my birthday.) Everyone in the club was acting like I smelled bad and wouldn't wanna hang out. At first It seemed like everyone was making a dance circle and I thought "this is awesome!" But then I realized no one was even watching. They just wanted to get away from the way I smelled. What ever. Even the cage djs at other clubs take stupid requests already. Don't go to this place. U will have to lame music and watch the DJ act like a hunk and get all the people to love him instead of you. And the drinks were expensive. My visa bill was like $200 or something and now I can't afford anything. They don't have ski shots or anything snow related. read more

I wish zero stars was an option. We were coerced of the street to go inside then treated terribly inside. First off coat check was "required" regardless if that made you comfortable or not. After that as multiple girls I was with ordered drinks that tasted terrible and they asked politely to have a new one they were told sorry "deal with it." After this, the only reason we were still staying was for a raffle. My name was drawn and called and there was a 10 second rule. As my group screamed and I walked up waving my hands another name was drawn when I was with 5ft of the podium. They then gave the prize (a snowboard) to the next name that was drawn who was clearly a friend. I would never recommend this place to anyone, the management is corrupt and the service is terrible. read more
