What a fun thing to do! Oliver was the most pleasant host and elevated our experience. We were provided proper coats to keep us comfortable in the -20° F room. We were poured 4 tastings of Vodka and obviously Grey Goose is a must since it seems they are part sponsors (and that was the attraction). The shot glasses (looked like 2 Oz. Glasses) were ice cold like the room. Oliver explained some interesting details of each Vodka and recommended caviar to pair with the Polish vodka (we prepaid for this). It was definitely fun, quick and the Vodka poured like syrup at this below freezing temperature. I absolutely loved this experience. At first, I thought $65 for 20 mins and only a 4 half vodka shots/tastings? However, it's actually fun, informative and you can barely stand being in there longer than 20 minutes anyway due to the extreme cold. They provide Canada Goose coats for you during the tour, but I felt my nostril hairs starting to freeze. I had a chance to try some new vodka and will actually pick up a bottle in the liquor store next time. They claim they are the coldest vodka room in the world. I can't say for sure but I can tell you that staying in there for about 20-30mins, my hands were frozen. Right now during Rona, the maximum amount of guests are 6. You are only able to get in by prepaying in advance so check online and don't aim to just wing it. They provide you a parka so you don't need to bring a jacket but I wouldn't go in with open toe shoes FYI. Kim was our vodka connoisseur and she did an amazing job! You start but trying Ketel One vodka for obvious reasons. There are 4 vodkas you can try during your visit and she lets you pick between certain types and gives you a background of each. The last vodka, you are able to pick whatever you want in the room. We choose a japanese one called Haku that had sake in it which was very tasty. I booked 3 tickets on 27 Sept, as a bday surprise for my sister and her best friend who had come out to visit from Australia, I told them I had organized a fun bday surprise. Such a fun, "COOL" experience in Whistler! This used to be the Belvedere Ice room, but now it is the Ketel One Ice room. The jacket advertised is not Canada Goose...it's actually an even warmer one! The Vodkas are stored in the ice walls and shot glasses chilled and stacked on the tasting table. Between my babe and I we shared shots so that we could try more kinds. The Grey Goose VX was so smooth. We sampled vodkas made from rye, lemongrass, potatoes, cacao. We ended with a chocolate vodka shot which was a fun way to end. What an amazing experience! The easiest way to enter is to go through the bistro, and then they will lead you to the ice room. They will also notify your host to lead you through the tasting. You are provided with jackets to wear in the room and they will lock up any outerwear you may have in the coat closet so you don't have to worry about keeping track of those items. It is part of an upscale restaurant, so this will cost you over $150 and is totally not worth it. Save yourself a ton of money and sample the lagers and IPAs at the Pemberton brewing Co or the beer farmers instead (you get to pet the sheep and see the tulip garden for free). Such a fun experience drinking shots of vodka in parkas at -32! The server was super nice and really knew his stuff, I feel bad they have to stand in there so much each day. We started with ketel one, then had an international option, then local option, then dessert option. It was a nice little flight and fun to take photos and the vodka is sooo smooth at that temp. NOTE: This business used to be called the "Belvedere Ice Room" but the name changed to the "Ketel One Ice Room" some time in the last couple of years. I tried to get Yelp to change the business name - instead they insisted on creating a whole new listing for basically the same business with a new name at the same location... First of all - the correct name of this place is now the Ketel One Ice Room. According to the staff we chatted with - the name was changed to Ketel One Ice Room approx. two years ago. We stopped in at the Bar at the Barefoot Bistro to inquire as to when we could get in for a tasting. We were informed that a very large group was preparing to go in - so it might be an hour or more before we could go in. So we headed back to our hotel to change into regular shoes (I was wearing flop flops) so that my feet did not freeze. We returned about 20 minutes later prepared to sit at the bar and wait our turn. Turns out the large group was not quite ready to go yet - so my friend and I got to go in earlier. We were taken to a small closet in the lobby where we were given Parkas to wear and our bartender/host also donned one. We got to taste four vodkas. Keep in mind the room is -32 degrees F. below zero. It's really frickin' cold in there! So much so that after the first few pix I snapped with my digital SLR, my camera stopped working and I had to use my iPhone 6 to take the remaining photos. We tasted four vodkas - the bartender lets you choose the last two. The walls of the Ice Room contain little niches where various bottles of vodka reside. - Ketel One - Belvedere - Blavod - Schramm The Blavod is a dark black colored vodka, the black color is achieved through the addition of Catechu, a herb found in southern Asia and central and east Africa. The Schramm is a locally produced vodka just up the road in Pemberton, BC. When you taste vodka at this temperature, it really brings out the flavors. It was incredible how much more flavor each vodka had than it does when we drink it either at room temperature or as cold as our home freezers can get vodka. Big difference! As others have noted, it's expensive - $48.00 per person. But it was an interesting and fun experience! Highly recommended! read more

I had heard such cool things about this experience in Whistler, so I was excited to try it out on my birthday trip. My boyfriend paid for it as part of my birthday, and we waited in the lobby to begin our experience. They lock the door so that no one can randomly walk in, and they provide puffer jackets to keep you warm from the cold. The guy that was running the experience seemed rushed and not interested in the experience, so our experience was rushed and we were in and out within 15 minutes. For the amount of money that my boyfriend paid, he felt that it should've been more in depth and not rushed. We were able to try about 4-5 shots of different vodkas, which was pretty cool, but we were hoping for much more to live up to the hype. read more

We had so much fun in the ice room. Our "tour" guide gave us 4 vodka shots and knew something about every vodka. I believe his name was Charlie. He seemed like he was having a great time with us which made the experience all the better. The jackets are nice and warm and the shots are nice and cold. Our host's name was Sam. He completely rushed us. I don't know if that's just how normally speaks or because he doesn't care since they add 15% gratuity to your bill, but it was not okay. Well, this experience is badass! I love the cold, and I love my fair share of vodka - this spot hits both of those marks in a unique way! On an overnight stay in Whistler, I decided to hop down to the Bearfoot Bistro and check out what this joint was all about. I had a tasty Phillips Blue Buck ale at the bar, and chatted with one of the bartenders about the Ice Room. The tours into the ice room are led by one of the bartenders, each of whom are very knowledgeable about the history and science behind the vodkas that they serve, as well as the ideal process for enjoying vodka... which, as I can confidently say, is definitely augmented by sipping or shooting it down in a -25°F (-32°C) ice room. Jay & Andrew were solid couriers for the visit (both inside and outside of the Ice Room), and they really rounded out the whole experience with their mastery and passion for what they do! I was able to try four different types of vodkas, all of which were vastly different in taste and history. Of course being the Ketel One Ice Room, you get to try a shot of Ketel One, and it's crazy how differently it tastes compared to enjoying at room temperature or even out of the freezer. When given a choice, I opted to try the Van Gogh Espresso Vodka out, and that was a damn delicious treat. Customer service was terrible, staff had a smirky look on there faces and efforts were forced. My husband and I are calm and collected people but very outgoing but the whole ice bar experience just felt like a money making scheme. I was a little skeptical about coming here because I've been to the Ice Bar in Orlando, and it was definitely hokey/overpriced/ridiculous with their tiny Pinnacle vodka mixed drinks. This vodka room has better coats (better warmth and a better photo op!) and better vodka served in shot form. We got to try four decent sized pours, three chosen by our host and one of our own choosing. I chose the Van Gogh Espresso vodka and it was absolutely amazing. Once inside, the cold takes your breath away as you listen to a short but interesting history of vodka surrounded by bottles curated from all over the globe. Then you choose 4 types of vodka bottles and are poured a shot. I recommend you choose brands you aren't familiar with or that you can't buy locally. Cheers! If you have a sweet tooth, make your last shot 360's Double Chocolate Vodka and savour that rich, dark cocoa taste on your tastebuds as long as you can. It's hard to find this one in BC liquor stores but 360 also makes a wonderful Lemon Vodka that gives the monks who produce Lemoncello a good run for the money. After returning your parka, warm up by the fireplace outside the tasting room in the lobby of the hotel and, if you have an appetite, dine at the Bearfoot Bistro adjacent to the Ice Room. It's a fun way to spend 15 minutes as you're getting your night started, or maybe as a quick stop on a pub crawl through the village. We dropped by after dinner to see what all the fuss was about. You need to check in with the hostess at the Bearfoot Bistro in case there is a wait she will need to put your name on the list. I think they take a max of 14 people in at a time? We had to wait for a few minutes as there was one group ahead of us. When our turn came up they handed us the giant Canada Goose jackets, which they said cost $1500 a pop, and ushered our group into the ice box. The sign on the wall says its -20 degrees Fahrenheit in the room, and that you shouldn't be in there for longer than 20 minutes at a time. I kept track, we were in there for a total of 14 minutes. I could have been in there longer, but it doesn't really take long to take 4 half shots. I only remember two of the four that we tasted, one was Hanger One, and the other was a salted caramel flavored vodka that completely appealed to my sweet tooth. Our host was very nice and took a bunch of pictures for everyone, so you don't have to try and take your own selfie. I highly recommend you bring a pair of gloves. You don't want to hold a shot glass with your bare hands in a room that cold, trust me. As others have noted, the experience is $48, plus whatever you choose to tip your host. Keep in mind those are Canadian Dollars, so if you are coming from the U.S. it will likely be a good bit less after conversion. read more
