    Bistec a la Mexicana
    Terri G.

This restaurant is located in a strip mall and you don't notice it as much as other restaurants, since it's kind of small. Anyway, we recently stopped by for lunch and there was nothing small about those flavors! I was longing for Mexican food and chose the Bistec a la Mexicana, which was beef in a flavorful sauce with veggies and a side of beans and rice. Hubs went for the Torta Al pastor, which was pork layered in bread, with a side of crispy fries. We had great service, drinks came quickly and the chips were homemade with a tomatillo sauce that was spicy but very tasty. My flour tortillas were homemade and so good! Hubs sampled several, so I hid the last one. The restaurant was crowded and if all the dishes were as good as what we had, it's no wonder. They have so many offerings on the menu, we're definitely coming back soon.

This was recommended by a Mexican-American friend and had high hope. Stared off great, real house-made tortilla chips were served immediately, thick, fresh, and tasty. Asked for a coke with lemon, the waitress said coke with lime and I corrected her. As you anticipated, it came with lime. Common in Mexican restaurants because of some translation issue, but still she knew better, but was just inattentive. The waitress recommended the mixed fajitas, beef, chicken, and shrimp. I went with the recommendation. However, shrimp was missing in action. The chicken bits were good, but the beef was inedible. I must admit though that lime wedges are good with coke. Might go back to try the tacos. Will as my friend what she has there though.

Tacos were delicious! shredded pork and beef were the best. steak was chewy. Service excellent! The chips are homemade!

I grew up in Texas and this is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at!!! Everything is so fresh, the tortillas will burn your hands! Omg and that tomatillo salsa..... I don't have enough words to describe how delicious everything was. So I'll just talk abt how sweet the staff is. Bakery is amazing. I feel like my hubs and I will be discussing our experience here for years to come!

The hefty piece of mozzarella rather than the shreds needed for a smooth, melted filling. Also... why mozzarella?

What A Great Place! As were driving down the street towards…read morethe Naples Botanical Garden, we passed a brewery and next to it was this small Mexican restaurant. How perfect. After our nature visit, we could stop for a beverage, then get a late lunch next door. Well let me tell you, this is legit authentic Mexican. We walked over from the brewery next door. There's a patio out front with tables and umbrellas, but it was scorchingly hot and we wanted to sit inside. Not too many tables as it's small, but one opened up for the three of us. A very polite server provided menus and took our drink orders. My daughter and I both had Micheladas. You can select what beer you want in the mix. I had Modelo Negro, my daughter selected Modelo Especial. My wife had a bottle of water. No tap water here, you need to buy the bottle. We studied the menu trying to decide what to get. Everything we could see others eating looked great and tacos seemed to be the popular meal. Our Micheladas came out and these were festive. Large mugs, rimmed with a pretty zippy tahin and pepper blend, filled with the beer and a slightly spicy tomato juice mix. Very flavorful. A something new for us was the addition of a tamarind straw. It's a plastic straw, covered with a sweet spicy tamarind blend. They actually call it candy. You use it to stir your drink and then nibble on the candy. What a great fun thing to add to a drink. By the way, the Michelada was excellent. I enjoyed licking the tajin seasoned rim with each sip, just like a salted rim on a margarita. Still studying the menu, we ordered the Choriqueso appetizer. The basket came out with fresh fried corn tortilla chips and a bowl of queso cheese with chorizo sausage crumbled into it. Runnier than most cheese dips we're used to, but enjoyable nonetheless. Finally we ordered our meals. Al Pastor Tacos for my wife, Chorizo and Steak Tacos and Quesabirria Quesadilla for my daughter and Caldo de Camaron for myself. In just a few minutes, our delights were delivered and the feast began. All of the meats in the tacos and quesadilla were excellent. Great flavors and no skimping on the meats. Onions, cilantro and self squeezed lime punched up the flavors. The quesabirria come with an au jus style dipping sauce that was perfect. My shrimp soup was spectacular. Easily shareable, but I accepted the challenge to eat this myself. Served with numerous warm tortillas, chopped onions, cilantro and lime, I put it all in. A very light yet flavorful broth and as the pic shows, loaded with flavorful shrimp. I enjoyed every spoonful. A wonderful soup. As with most authentic Mexican restaurants, you are made to feel that \you are their guest. They will never make you feel that you've overstayed and if you want your check, you just go to the register at the counter. Looking forward to our next trip there.

It was nice to sit outside but I think our server forgot about us for a while... The quesabirria and fajitas were very good, but everything else was lowkey a skip. We only wanted a variety of apps so she gave some good suggestions. She was attentive and efficient. The food she suggested: elote, very good! We did get the guac and chips too to use the chips with the elote. That was the problem. The guac was somewhat tasteless, but the chips were very bad. They tasted like they were made in old rancid oil and they make them onsite. They even smelled like old oil. We let her know and she brought a new batch. Still tasted bad. We suggested her to try them and she did and agreed they were not up to par. I felt the grease even coated my tongue. The cornbread was excellent. Because the chips were so bad we got the guac and rest of the elote to go so we can eat at home with some good chips. We got the bill and even though they agreed they weren't as good as normal they still charged us for everything. That is a problem. She should have had them take them off the bill. We still tipped 18% but that isn't good when they don't make it right. We may give them another chance but still charging males that less likely for sure.
