Ordered over the phone. They clearly knew I was American and had difficulty taking my order which was 1 lb of carnitas with tortillas and pick de gallo. Online it says $13. When I picked it up the price magically changed to $18. I was told it was a recent price change. At least half of the carnitas was tripe.. which is NEVER included in carnitas. If you are American.. they will rip you off.. STAY AWAY!!

Top: tacos w/pastor & barbacoa. Center: Rice &beans and guac, along side hot sauces. Bottom: Shrimp tacos

My husband and I were driving to Naples on the Tamiami Trail and after a long commute stopped at Chilakil for lunch. The restaurant is alongside a gas station on the main road, don't let this stop you from going in! We were pleasantly surprised at the design of the restaurant. It is eclectic- a bit modern, a bit traditional, but all well done and most important to us, very clean. There is adequate seating, even though some tables are unavailable to promote social distancing. There is also a walk-up-window outside if you prefer ordering your food and sitting on the back of your tailgate, or just hitting the road with your grub. They have an easy to read menu with both Spanish and English translation. I am a Pescatarian, so at times I feel limited in my options, but Chilakil had a good selection of plates that would fit into my diet. I decided on shrimp tacos with a side of rice and beans. My husband ordered 5 tacos: 2 barbacoa and 3 pastor. We also ordered guac & chips. So, first I will admit that our eyes were grander then our bellies because it was SO.MUCH.FOOD! For the price, we were expecting small street tacos, but that was not the case. The tacos were larger then expected, the tortillas hot and fresh and the guac was one of the best we had ever tried. I thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp tacos, rice and beans and while my husband enjoyed his plate, his preference of the two meats had he only had one option would be the pastor. We both enjoy spicy food, so we added their hot sauce to our tacos. If you like heat too, definitely ask for their hot sauces!! They are flavorful and pack a punch! If you are in the area going to or heading out of Naples, and have a hankering for authentic food served by very nice people, support the local economy and add Chilakil to your itinerary! You tastebuds will thank you!

Ever since I moved to Florida about 11 years ago, I have always said up until today that I would never ever find authentic Mexican food in Florida. In a state saturated with Cuban cuisine and fusions, very few have claimed to be authentic Mexican and even come close to delivering. As I walked into this restaurant, a shabby, quiet, hole in the wall, the first thing I noticed was the aroma. It smelled like my mothers cooking when I lived in Arizona. I looked at the menu and so many viable options, at prices so low I thought there were multiple typos. The young lady suggested gorditas, one al pastor and the other barbacoa. They both delivered and for a second I felt that I was back in the west coast; enjoying a family dinner. I hate that I have worked in lely resort for three years and never discovered this place. It's amazing, and if you ever find yourself passing by, do a U turn and give it a try, and you won't be disappointed.

This place had no reviews so I decided to try it and check it out and OMG it's a gem!!! The tacos are to die for, we had carnitas, lengua, barbacoa, buche, pastor, asada and we devour them, fresh corn tortillas, chips while we waited for our food, service was excellent and the food was ready within minutes!!! A true 5 stars for being authentic Mexican food, I believe they're from Michoacán. We live in Miami but we definitely will come back for more when we're down here

Food was delicious but the ambience lacked character. Had the chile relleno and the flavor was very good.

Amazing food and the salsa bar is a hidden gem in Naples. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town

What A Great Place! As were driving down the street towards…read morethe Naples Botanical Garden, we passed a brewery and next to it was this small Mexican restaurant. How perfect. After our nature visit, we could stop for a beverage, then get a late lunch next door. Well let me tell you, this is legit authentic Mexican. We walked over from the brewery next door. There's a patio out front with tables and umbrellas, but it was scorchingly hot and we wanted to sit inside. Not too many tables as it's small, but one opened up for the three of us. A very polite server provided menus and took our drink orders. My daughter and I both had Micheladas. You can select what beer you want in the mix. I had Modelo Negro, my daughter selected Modelo Especial. My wife had a bottle of water. No tap water here, you need to buy the bottle. We studied the menu trying to decide what to get. Everything we could see others eating looked great and tacos seemed to be the popular meal. Our Micheladas came out and these were festive. Large mugs, rimmed with a pretty zippy tahin and pepper blend, filled with the beer and a slightly spicy tomato juice mix. Very flavorful. A something new for us was the addition of a tamarind straw. It's a plastic straw, covered with a sweet spicy tamarind blend. They actually call it candy. You use it to stir your drink and then nibble on the candy. What a great fun thing to add to a drink. By the way, the Michelada was excellent. I enjoyed licking the tajin seasoned rim with each sip, just like a salted rim on a margarita. Still studying the menu, we ordered the Choriqueso appetizer. The basket came out with fresh fried corn tortilla chips and a bowl of queso cheese with chorizo sausage crumbled into it. Runnier than most cheese dips we're used to, but enjoyable nonetheless. Finally we ordered our meals. Al Pastor Tacos for my wife, Chorizo and Steak Tacos and Quesabirria Quesadilla for my daughter and Caldo de Camaron for myself. In just a few minutes, our delights were delivered and the feast began. All of the meats in the tacos and quesadilla were excellent. Great flavors and no skimping on the meats. Onions, cilantro and self squeezed lime punched up the flavors. The quesabirria come with an au jus style dipping sauce that was perfect. My shrimp soup was spectacular. Easily shareable, but I accepted the challenge to eat this myself. Served with numerous warm tortillas, chopped onions, cilantro and lime, I put it all in. A very light yet flavorful broth and as the pic shows, loaded with flavorful shrimp. I enjoyed every spoonful. A wonderful soup. As with most authentic Mexican restaurants, you are made to feel that \you are their guest. They will never make you feel that you've overstayed and if you want your check, you just go to the register at the counter. Looking forward to our next trip there.

It was nice to sit outside but I think our server forgot about us for a while... The quesabirria and fajitas were very good, but everything else was lowkey a skip. We only wanted a variety of apps so she gave some good suggestions. She was attentive and efficient. The food she suggested: elote, very good! We did get the guac and chips too to use the chips with the elote. That was the problem. The guac was somewhat tasteless, but the chips were very bad. They tasted like they were made in old rancid oil and they make them onsite. They even smelled like old oil. We let her know and she brought a new batch. Still tasted bad. We suggested her to try them and she did and agreed they were not up to par. I felt the grease even coated my tongue. The cornbread was excellent. Because the chips were so bad we got the guac and rest of the elote to go so we can eat at home with some good chips. We got the bill and even though they agreed they weren't as good as normal they still charged us for everything. That is a problem. She should have had them take them off the bill. We still tipped 18% but that isn't good when they don't make it right. We may give them another chance but still charging males that less likely for sure.
