It was a Chapala's and is more upscale than the other locations in For three years now, the 2nd exit to Jerome off I-84 has been under construction, it's almost finished. Last weekend, August 14/15 it looked like downtown Boise with all the cones and barrels, but everything is paved there now and on S Lincoln Ave. So, there is no excuse to not make a stop if traveling east on the freeway. Our group was there for the 28th annual Joe Mama's car show and we ate Friday night at Redhawk in Twin and the second night here. This was our favorite for the service and food quality, but Redhawk's view of the canyon and Perrine bridge at sunset is hard to beat. The menus are priced slightly lower at Twin Falls, Jerome and Elko than Garden City and Jerome seem to attract a strong base of families. Menus were new and colorful, easy to read. Ordering is simple, there is a number assigned to each item. For example, lunch had twenty items, all $9.75. We had called ahead and a table for 13 was already set up. Service was efficient, prompt, friendly and they were able to explain any questions on the menu. The first baskets of chips and salsa and bean dip (3) are complimentary, additional is an extra $2.45. I always like to try a Chile Verde Burrito and added a tamale, $13.50 + $7.50 and a Corona. Extra big portions, the Verde sauce and cheese were also plentiful. The pork was tender; it was cut into small chunks so not as flavorful when simmered with larger bites. The tamale masa was delicious, the inside marinated pork had a ground texture. My favorite tamales in the Boise area continues to be at La Esperanza Bakery in Nampa. I tried my friend's Shrimp Cocktail, some good-sized shrimp on top of a glass with salsa, chopped shrimp, avocado, onions, etc. He also ordered one of the seafood specialties, bacon wrapped shrimp and shared a little of that also. When I come back I'd order either one of those shrimp items. But... the theatrical bowl of goodies called a Molcajete Loco that I saw delivered to several tables would be my choice if dining with my wife as it is showy; it steams coming to the table and is definitely shareable, just over $30. The queso dip served with tortillas is a real bargain and both kids and adults like the cheese quesadilla. read more

One of the best places to go in Jerome, ID for some amazing food in general and if you want some great authentic Mexican food, then you're at the right place. Firstly, everything was hot, as in temperature, right down to the chips at the beginning of the meal, as if everything was made to order, which you can tell that it was. Everything was fresh and well made, and literally everything on the table comes highly recommended. My favorite though is the chimichanga, cooked perfectly and I devoured it. The service also is amazing with the staff checking in regularly with water refills and making sure everything is great. If you're looking for a casual dinner with some great food or a whole spread with large plates that'll satisfy your cravings, then this is the place to go. read more

This restaurant's "food" was beyond poor. This was their opening day. The atmosphere is excellent and the people were lovely. Every detail is perfect for a lovely Mexican dining experience, even down to the cutlery and the build-out of the rooms. However, the prices are medium high, but over-the-top for the quality of food. To start, the were no chips brought to my table, which is uncommon for a Mexican restaurant. It is important to taste a Mexican restaurant's chips, so I ordered an appetizer of chicken nachos. It was big pile of soggy chips on the bottom. I separated the bottom out from the top chips. The chicken is pulled or shredded, flavorless and tough. I did not eat it and requested it be removed from my tab. It was not. That was $14 wasted. Also, I share a warning, my nachos came with 3 RED, seeded hot jalapeno slices as decoration. I grew up on the Mexican border and eat jalapeno easily, but they can be too hot for any average person, especially from this part from of the country. Picking them up to remove and then touching a chip, got the jalapeno oil on my lips with heat. Most people would not be able to deal. If you see those on your food, ask for the dish to be remade. All you need is for one person to touch those and then touch their eye or a child in tears. The chips are concerning, there is a difference between real fried corn tortilla chips and maize flavored pressed snack chip tortillas that are made from a press. Garibaldis serves the snack chips. They were a lime, some artificial flavor. Complete lack of authenticity. That is what made my nachos soggy! I ordered mixed steak and chicken fajitas as my meal. The sizzle skillet is a nice touch. I took one bit of steak and pulled grizzle out of my mouth. It is a poor quality meat with too much collagen that makes it tough to cut or chew. The chicken was DRY. The best part of the fajitas were the grilled onions and even then several were not cooked to the same consistency. I had two bites of the beef and two of the chicken, left all the rest of the food. I spend $67.31 and did not eat the nachos and only a few bits of the main dish. The $5 beer was good! Also, I asked to try both a flour and corn tortilla for the fajitas. They can't possibly be home made, which is a huge disappointment. They both had a very funny smell, as if they are adsorbing from the surrounding area where they are being stored. Mine smelled like a pantry, maybe with other than food stored in the vicinity. I felt bad for my waiter and I did tip him a $20 bill on a $67.31 lunch that had one margarita and 2 beers. I coughed up the money, tipped the waiter, said thank-you and left. I did not want to make a scene on their opening day, especially when all the people working there were lovely and very professional and gracious towards me. I wanted to call the owner before leaving this review to share my disappointment and charge for the nachos that I had asked to be removed, BUT there is no phone number listed that I can find. We stopped with two 3 year olds and 2 adults. They had both tables and booths to sit in. We ordered 2 kids quesadillas and the chicken with veggies, beans and rice. Portions were large. They served chips, salsa and refried beans as an appetizer. The salsa was good, and spicy. The beans were warm. Flavor was okay. Not amazing, and not terrible. Service overall was fine. Pretty standard TexMex food. Everything is covered in melted cheese or sauce and served with rice and beans. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you may want to look elsewhere but if you're looking for a burritos smothered in cheese then this is your place. The fajitas are especially good, and if you decide to go this route the steak is probably the best option. In my opinion the Twin Falls location is just a bit better. The food quality isn't any better or worse at one location or the other but the atmosphere and decor at the Twin location are a little better in my opinion. Which is to say that the Twin Falls location has decor and an atmosphere. The Jerome location on the other hand is really just a dining room with some booths and some pretty awful paintings on the wall. But you wouldn't be coming here for the decor or atmosphere, so it really doesn't matter. Also, the service at the twin location has always struck me as better as well. This may be due to the fact that the Jerome location isn't staffed as heavily as the larger location but the service I'm Jerome has always just seemed a bit.....slow. The chips and salsa are complimentary with the meal, but be warned you may need to ask for refills on the chips. Otherwise you might only get one basket during your visit. You're going to be lucky to get two even if you ask. The chips do come with salsa and refried beans though, which is nice. The only thing that knocked this down from four stars to three was the dining room itself; lack of decor and general apprearance also the room is a bit of a mess. It definitely isn't "dirty" there are just some loose scraps of paper on the floor and some straw wrappers, things like that. But the food is good, the portion size is on the larger side and the price is good as well. read more

The food is excellent!!! This restaurant is a very friendly place for family, dates, or just plain old dinner time for yourself. Would recommend it to all my friends and family. The waitresses are very prompt and respectful. They have a class act service! I lived in Buhl, Idaho, and would drive to Jerome Idaho just to eat at GARIBALDI'S! The character and atmosphere are excellent. Can be noisy at times. The family-oriented restaurant can bring in entire families and you could hear children scream or cry. You can get that at the grocery store! Even though it can be loud, waiters are always friendly and very prompt in taking care of their customers! I will give GARIBALDI'S 2 THUMBS UP every time! We were headed up to Boise for a funeral and stopped by this restaurant for lunch in Jerome on the way. We all enjoyed the lunch specials and my son kept talking about how much he loved the bean dip that came with the chips. The salsa was too hot for me but half of our party loved it. The portions were large and delicious. It was such a hit that we stopped here the next day on the way home. As it was a Saturday they didn't have the lunch specials. I'm glad they didn't because we loved the food we got this time even more. The fajita trio was incredible and could feed 3 people. My son decided to get the whole fish and I appreciated that the waitress double checked to make sure he really wanted the whole fish and not one of the dishes that has smaller pieces. The waitress was wonderful to accommodate food allergies and the service was great. There was no wait but even at 2 pm both days it was still pretty busy which is a sign of great food.
