My heat went out during a freezing week in December. The existing unit would be very expensive to repair because it was over 30 years old and I could smell that something had burned out. Garrick was there within an hour, diagnosed the problem, gave me several options (repair, replace etc). To repair was extremely expensive and would take several days to find and have the parts shipped, so i opted for a new system. They showed up with a large team and had heat back in a day to get me through the weekend. By the next Tuesday the heating and air were installed, inspections completed and I was all set! Great service, honest, respectful, trustworthy. Garick has serviced and replaced our heating and air conditioning systems. For a new system, they showed up on time, put on foot coverings and masks (during the Covid pandemic), were clean and efficient. They took the time to fully understand how our system was working and optimized it so it works much better after replacement. However, I didn't appreciate his chit chat; he told my husband that businesses can't get employees anymore because people getting unemployment insurance are lazy and would rather stay home than work. read more

All the Garick service rep did was a cursory review of our HVAC unit. But my main problem with the service rep was the way he treated me after I mention my concern with our air conditioning unit. After I mention my concerns, he treated me like a misbehaved child, no knowing what I was talking about. At the end of his 15 minute inspection, he tried to sell me additional services for hundreds of dollars. Save you money and seek another company.... read more

I was shocked to learn that this company (that was referred to me by a close friend) charges for providing a quote for repairs. This was not something that was disclosed at the time I made the appt. or during the appt. It was at the end of the appt that I was asked to pay $125 for my quote. The same quote that other companies are more than happy to provide FREE of charge. The personnel we're friendly and I have no negative review to give them personally, but I can't help but feel a little taken advantage of. The technician did say if I use their services for the work they will credit me the $125. But at this point it's principle for me. It just would have been nice to know this up front. They had to reschedule twice due to rain, but showed up on time between storms and did a great job replacing unit. Clayton, Nate, John and Warren were nice, efficient, and cleaned up everything. The unit works great, quieter than before and the interior work they did looks better than before. They price paid was as quoted and no surprises. They came to fix the A/C downstairs BROKE it PADDED the bill DOUBLE CHARGED to come back when they didn't fix it right the first time. This probably won't even post because they pay yelp to keep a 5 star rating. Enough said... The difference besides price, was the Garrick salesman asked a lot of questions and thoroughly inspected my rooms before making a suggestion. I actually upsold myself by asking what could I buy if a spent more money. The other bidder just asked how much I wanted to spend and then wrote out a bid. Garick installed my HVAC system 12 years ago, nothing but issues over the years. Called them when AC was not working right, they sent a Technician who told me I needed a new system, didnt leave me any paperwork. Five days later, I'm still waiting, been told numerous times someone would call me back. I wouldn't let these guys fix anything I own. Very poor customer service. This is the first time I have used Garick. Brad was my technician. He arrived on time and called me before he arrived. My furnace quit and the screen on the thermostat was blank. I did a little trouble shooting and decided that this repair was above my skill level. My favorite part of the transaction was that Brad respected and appreciated my trouble shooting which professional techs often do not. Brad found that indeed my old thermostat had a short in it and had blown a fuse inside the furnace which I would have had difficulty finding. Brad installed a new thermostat and set it up to fit my needs. On my old thermostat I was not able to set the system to run strictly by time to avoid the dreaded 5 to 8 pm SMUD rates. Brad set this one up to take care of that. I will definitely use Garick again and I'll ask for Brad. I appreciate a company that wants to work with me to get what I want, not what they want. This company bought out Gudie and has some of the same HVAC technicians. Gudie installed my current AC condenser around 2005 but neither Gudie nor Garrick, ever checked the condenser coils over the years we had them out to for yearly service/maintenance check. While I was painting I noticed the dirt on the coils and found out that they were 70 percent clogged with dirt yet never once did Gudie or Garrick say anything during their service calls at my home. Had some furnace issues that I recently called Garrick about and the service tech, that had been with Gudie, basically told me he doesn't want anything to do with repairing old HVAC units and the hassles involved with follow up calls due to repairing old furnaces. He quoted me a ridiculously high price for repair, which he said may or may not fix the issue, and then suggested I just replace the everything at $7000 to $10000. When I called Garrick again to follow up with quoted repairs the Gudie technician wouldn't show up at my house anymore and they sent a younger technician who knew next to nothing about repairing older furnaces. So to sum up, Garrick only wants to replace your HVAC, not repair old units so do not call them for repair. Giving them one star for the failing to notice the clogged condenser coils over many years of service calls, the crazy price for repairs in hopes of shocking me into just buying a new furnace instead, then sending out a novice technician incapable of repairing an old furnace. read more

Warren came out and spent 1.5 looking at my system and telling me how we could improve it ourselves to save costs.
