I recently stopped eating meat is so I went there and got a veggie Pizza and I guess you just don't put enough sauce in their cheese is so scattered that it's not completely covered. Absolutely the BEST pizza in Chicagoland! It's hard to find a decent pizza place that does thin crust/ tavern style correctly. All of their toppings are fresh, delicious, and they never skimp on them. Their pizza sauce is my favorite (I always order extra on the side) and their cheese is the best because they actually get it from Wisconsin. I am lactose intolerant, but their cheese never upsets me. I love how their oven cooks their pizzas to the perfect crisp for the crust and edges of the cheese. Lived out this way for over 20 years, never stopped in here--don't know why, just didn't. Finally went there with a family friend, and don'tcha know the pie was pretty good. Nothing earth-shattering, but good. It's a big, casual pizza joint. No waitresses, you go up to the counter and order, then they call your number and you pick it up. Decent selection of beers. Been going to Gario's for years. Pizza has always been good. Taco pizza is good. The problem now is that they are charging you to use a credit card. 3.5%. That's totally ridiculous for a retail establishment to do this. I can see charging you for a small dollar amount but not when you spend big bucks for multiple pizzas. If you're going to charge to use a credit card at least give some kinda break for using cash. read more

Went with a group of 12 or so, each table ordering their own drinks/meals. Placed our simple order, paid and sat down with the others. We waited...and waited....and WAITED but our order was never called. Finally inquired and apparently our order was misplaced or never entered. Was told they'd place the order and put a "rush" on it, although they were trying to close early (7:30). Since we had small kids who were very hungry, we took them up on their offer to fix their mistake. Still ended up to be a 40 minute wait. Pizza arrived after the rest of our party had let and was "meh". Never offered a partial refund or at least a drink while we continued to wait, but DID get to enjoy the special ambiance of table cleaning and vacuuming all around us as we dined. I have passed by Gario's multiple times, but only recently went to attend an after work gathering. I got the Italian sausage with green peppers. I was pretty disappointed with this. The sausage was tough and lacked good flavor. It came with chips. The real disappointing part was the green peppers. They were raw and diced rather than sauteed and sliced longwise. The pizza was decent. I was able to try a slice from one of my co-workers. She got a veggie pizza. The cheese was decently melted, but the veggies were undercooked, at least as much as I like for my pizza. The service was top-notch, though. I live over 30 minutes away. I order once in a while because we love their pizza. However tonight I drove the 32 minutes to pick up the pizza and everything was wrong. Gario's is an area staple. We've been coming to Gario's for as long as I can remember, and I highly recommend anyone who hasn't been to go check it out. To be honest, I don't really like pizza. But I can't resist having a few pieces of Gario's! Every time we go, we order a pitcher of beer and nachos for the table. The beer is always cold and the nachos are a great way to start dinner. We then always get a couple of sausage pizzas. I normally get myself a corn dog too (like I said, I'm weird, and don't really like pizza.) Ugghhh! Garios...how could you have released these pizzas to me when I came to pick them up?! They're totally burnt! I spent $61 on garbage pizza. Never ever again will I order from Garios. Not what it used to be back in the day, that's for sure....sigh I haven't ordered from here in 20 years and thought I'd try something different to change things up. Shame on me. I would highly recommend Garios pizza their food is exceptional along with VERY pleasant staff who are dedicated people towards the customer word's can't describe the awesome pizza once you try them you'll be pleased and priced right if your on a budget or on a fixed income. Have loved Gario's for decades, but service has gone downhill dramatically. Ordered online and arrived for pickup at recommended time -- initially couldn't find the order. Once they did, told me it would "be up soon". Waited 20 minutes standing right by the counter. In desperation I asked if there was a problem. Gario's...fond memories of this place growing up. We used to eat here all the time. My friends lived a few blocks away and so we would order this often. At the time, I just took it for granted because I didn't know better. Most of the pizza in the area is good or great. Move away...to Austin TX...OMG...they don't know pizza. What I took for granted...I never knew. I visit the greater Aurora area several times a year and my friends tease me because all I want to do is eat pizza. Do you have any idea what it's like to miss your favorite food? I have my top 5 favorite pizza joints in the area. Gario's makes that list. I order the thin crust cheese pizza. Like I said, I took good pizza for granted growing up in Bristol. I don't know what they do different up here, but it is heavenly. We usually get a big group together, but sometimes order to go. Delicious old-school pizza. We love the Gario's special substitute green olives for black olives. We've come to appreciate the oddly shaped cut pizza. But the unique flavors of the sausage and sauce and cheese they use are hard to beat. The pizza cooks should be commended for their composition of the pizza. One of the worst experiences ever! Do you like gnats and fruit flies flying all over your food and landing in it? Then Gario's is the place for you! We were clapping loudly trying to kill the bugs flying all around our food the whole experience! Did ANYONE from behind the counter come to ask how things were? Were there any issues? NO. BECAUSE NO ONE CARES HERE AT Gario's. Cheese sticks are served with COLD marinara sauce. Disgusting. Pizza was OK at best. Sadly, as a ride-share driver I was told this was a great place to go. Well, since this HORRIBLE dining experience, I make sure to tell ALL my passengers when we pass this place to stay FAR away unless you love BUGS flying around your food! Just a horrible horrible experience. Would NEVER go back! Oh yea, absolutely NO SERVICE whatsoever. You get the plates, forks, etc. NO ONE helps or does anything here. Definitely pass this place up. But the owner said they haven't made a thick crust in 8 years but his websitesite says they do the thick crust pizzas. I have been a huge fan of Garios forEVER but this experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I will never return. I called in my order and upon picking it up am told it isn't ready even though I arrived when I was told it would be ready by. As I stood by the counter, the Garios staff was all on the betting machines gambling and didn't even pay attention enough to notice I was still waiting. Three other families came in, ordered, and received their pizzas before I did. As I was getting irritated, I went and stood at the register and a finally staff went over to check my order. My pizzas were on the bottom of the stack and had been ready. He proceeds to say " I guess they were ready, it still should be hot" I am not one to complain and actually sat on this poor service experience since last night before leaving this review. I didn't call to complain about the service and cold pizzas because I would just be speaking to the same person who waited on me. What's the point? Plus they may not answer since all 3 staff members (cooks included) were playing the machines and that seemed more important than providing great customer service to a long long time customer! read more
