(They do not take reservations for small parties, but allow you to call ahead and they'll try to have a table ready.) our server was attentive and efficient, if a bit brusque. Food came without delays. Food was the big disappointment. My salad was limp and the honey/mustard dressing was too sharp and did not taste good. Blackened haddock would have been OK, but was dreadfully salty. Fries were OK. Another diner said the Reeuben was gloppy and falling apart. There's a compact but decent selection od beers on draft. I won't be back -- the food was too disappointing. If I had a do-over, I'd have lobbied group to go to Hardware in North Aurora -- close and much better food.

Went in about 3 weeks ago for breakfast which we love and go all of the time with our family. We have been going for years and everything is always wonderful and fun service. This time we had a waiter we have never seen or had before this day. Food was great but service was horrible and the waiter put gratuity on our bill. On the menu it says 6-8 people must be there for gratuity. There was only four of us so we didn't understand why gratuity was on our bill? We asked for the owner eleno and was told he wasn't there but we saw him. We assume he added gratuity because we had horrible service and it wasn't just us the table behind us also had the same problem. We paid the bill and gratuity which was funny because we would've left more but this young man apparently only wanted 18% and was making a scene when we asked why it was on the bill. We were so embarrassed we just left. At least we know not to ask for Carlos or to come in on this day again since the servers tend to have regular schedules. We love Riverview and we will be back but never again will sit in this young man's section. Thanks for always having wonderful food. read more

This is such a cute spot by the river! It is almost like a vintage, old fashion type feel but obviously everything is update & the food is great! They have great seating right by a window that you can see outside & enjoy the views of the river. Hence the name, Riverview Diner (hehe). If it is nice outside you could even grab a seat outside & enjoy the views even better! They have specials that run daily, from soups, to sandwiches. They have a large variety of food as well. This Clever Lil Spot in Montgomery So Very Nice. Can You guess that there is a River in Plain View next to it :) Their Breakfast Skillets are AMMMMAZING! The Fajita Skillet has treated me Grand EveryTime I have Gone there. I had a great experience at Riverview Diner in Montgomery! The turkey club was flavorful and satisfying, and the coconut cream pie was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding--everyone was so friendly and attentive, which really made the visit enjoyable. The atmosphere felt cozy, like a comfy country cabin, which added to the charm. The food is always good, if you order breakfast, but the waitress messed up my bill. I got charged for an extra meal, when I brought it to the cashiers attention she removed the wrong charge so I still ended up paying $5 too much. Seems to me when there is a $14 charge too much on a bill that should be $25 is should have received some sort of compression not an extra $5 charge. Lost me as a customer. read more
