Was really surprised with how good the pizza tasted. It tastes better than some of the photos if I'm being totally honest. Bought some pretty good pizza and spaghetti from this long time establishment in Aurora. It happens to be one of the few pizza places around here where one can eat inside. Ach-N-Lou's has been around for a long while and has many locals who always come. Has other things on the menu. There's also a gaming area with slots and other fun stuff. A bigger place inside than it looks upon entering. It's located in a strip mall with a few nondescript businesses next to it. The best time it seems to come is on the weekdays. Crazy busy at a few times. They have a pretty okay menu so most people can find something. Has lots of beers in bottles and cans. It's about $3 for Old Style. There's a few on tap. Has the Hot Bread Sticks as garlic or as plain. It's about $7 for a small personal pizza, which is cheap. There's a charge for each topping though. It's about $7 for the Baked Spaghetti. This comes with choice of toppings. Also it comes with garlic bread. We ended up getting shit tons of bread with all these. Helped to absorb all the alcohol. The pizzas also come in gluten free if needing to have those. Good place to get pizza and other Italian food for groups and parties if looking to make a booking. It's got plenty of games and slots. I was craving some crispy thin crust pizza and a friend recommended Ach-N-Lou's. Inside is very outdated but it's surprisingly very well maintained and cleaned. We came on a weekday and it wasn't very busy. We ordered at the counter and it took 15ish minutes before they called our name on the intercom. We ordered a large regular crust pizza with onions and mushrooms which was plenty for two people. The pizza came piping hot. The crust was solid and lived up to the extra crispy description. This restaurant holds a very very special place in my heart as it was my dad's all time favorite pizza place to go to! He passed from COVID in 2021 but ever since then my aunts, uncles, cousins and our kids will come here for his Birthday. Luckily, the pizza is delicious so it isn't a hard decision but people travel up to an hour for it! The owner and staff are all amazing and friendly and accommodating to the size of our group as well. This is a tradition that I hope to keep going for many many more years to come! A neighborhood joint, through and through. Everything tasted different here. Not bad, but...different. The tomatoe sauce on the pizza was different. The Wings were really meaty-it seemed they had more meat on them than a regular wing. Sauce not too spicy, and no celery or blue cheese dressing in support. Couldn't make up my mind whether I liked the wings or not. I et about 5 or 6 of them, so they must have not been too bad. About the pie--the cheese level detached far too easily from the crust--and then the crust was chewy, which was a bit weird. Couldn't finger out whether this was intended, or the pies came out of the oven prematurely. I'm one of those who deconstructs pizza habitually. I eat the cheese level, and follow with the crust. I went on a weekday for lunch, and there were probably four other groups already eating. It's been many years since I've eaten here and the place still looks the same plenty of booths and tables to eat upfront, and a large room with tables to eat in back. We ordered a 13 inch taco pizza and a 10 inch pepperoni and sausage with original crust and I had them put the pepperoni on top. I was surprised on how fast we received our food I thought for sure it would probably take an hour and I think we got our food about a half hour. We loved the taco pizza tasted just like I remember it. The sausage and pepperoni pizza had a really good flavor to the sauce. The crust was a little thick for me. I wish I would've ordered the ultra thin. I am definitely going to return and try the ultra thin crust !!! I would definitely recommend this place! read more

I can't believe I have not left a review previously, I've been eating pizza from here for years. Very good pizza but not quite as good as it was a few years ago. I've noticed some inconsistencies with the crust thickness and crispness. That being said it's still a solid 4-Star pizza and definitely worth trying if you've never tried it before. read more

What a horrible disappointment. I remember this being an exceptional pizza several years ago but, unfortunately, not anymore. The extra cheese pizza was like eating vulcanized rubber. It wasn't completely cooked so the cheese was not melted and, actually, made your mouth bounce open when you chewed it. It was also cut in triangles! So, we ordered an order of spaghetti and meatballs. OMG! That was even worse. The spaghetti was good but the tomato sauce came right out of a can with no seasoning. The meatballs were hard and, totally tasteless. They were definitely NOT "meatballs". Perhaps this new plant-based stuff? The small sausage and mushroom pizza wasn't bad. I remember their pizzas being greasy and it did not disappoint. It was not good the next day, though. It was cut in squares. And, when I have to order the pizza and pick it up, I don't know why I need to tip someone but I certainly got a look when I didn't. We won't be back any time soon. Stopped by recently. Food was not terrible, mostly bland; certainly not "award winning" level as they advertise. The good: - Had a neat hometown appeal. It's locally owned. I remember 30 years ago my middle school coach had an end of the season party here. I looked forward to visiting when I returned to the area. Much of it looks the same as I remember, but now with slot machines and flat screen tvs. - The staff was friendly and place was clean The funny: - I ordered a sandwich and pizza. The sandwich came with a pickle. Instead of wrapping the pickle in wax paper, the staff put it into a zip lock sandwich bag. I chuckled for a while as I though I was back in school with a packed lunch. Nothing bad, just never saw a restaurant do that. - Customers can pick out canned drinks from the cooler. Instead of stacking the cans in the cooler (like a regular restaurant), they just had cases of cans (still in the cardboard box with the seam open). The cases were clearly marked as "not for individual sale." It was a little funny, but also a little lazy. Not a deal breaker, but again- no other restaurant does that. The bad: -Food was just ok, but mostly bland. I was expecting a highly flavorful pizza and sandwich. The pizza and the sandwich did not taste bad, but it didn't taste like anything really. No seasoning in either the pizza or sandwich. The sandwich was big, lots of oozing cheese, but no flavor and very dry. The peppers were diced? Who puts diced peppers on an Italian beef? Customarily, especially in the Chicagoland area, Italian beef have giardiniera peppers, little hot peppers, or sweet peppers. Plus, Italian beefs are supposed to be some degree of wet. - The pizza only comes in two sizes, large and small. When I got the box, I though "Whoa, this large pizza is huge." That was until I opened the box- little pizza, big box. Not sure if they are using frozen pre-made pizza crust and only opted for 2 sizes, but a customer cannot get a bigger pizza or a pizza in the middle size. - It was a little frustrating that this place does not have a website (Facebook does not count as a website). In order for me to place my order in advance, I had to rely on Grubhub or other unverified 3rd party online menus. -It was also a little pricy for what I was getting. One sandwich, one pizza, and a few cans of coke ran about $50. At the time, I didn't think anything of it, especially since it was "award winning." - Speaking of their advertisement of "award winning" and "best pizza in Fox Valley," I have a few questions. Specifically, when was this award won, who is judging the contest, and who were the other participants? Not questioning that fact that it was award winning, but additional information may help the street cred a bit. -Lastly, I noticed that many of these 5 star review for Ach n Lou's are from people that only have a few reviews under their belt. Plus, some of the 5 star reviews are just a couple of sentences long. Not sure what is going on here, but other more established yelp posters had the same experience that I had. Overall, not terrible pizza, but not great. Mostly bland and overpriced meals; there were signs of laziness throughout the experience. If you are serving pizza and Italian beefs in the Chicagoland area, then expectations are rightfully high. read more

Gotta get my pizza fix and my friends are always happy to meet me here because it's yummy. There is nothing fancy about this place...just a little pizza pub in a strip mall off Farnsworth. But the pizza is fantastic! I order thin crust cheese and there is nothing else needed on this pizza - no need to smother it in cheese and peppers because it is perfect just as it is. Beer & wine is available in bottles. They recently added video casino games. I still think that's weird, but kinda cool if you just want to play some video poker without going to the casino. read more

This is the most unfriendly, and worst pizza I've eaten in Aurora. Orders are not filled as placed... our group ordered 6 pizza's and the one common trait was the crust is pre-made appears to be frozen. The ingredients slide off the very poor crust. The cheese and sausage was basically raw or barely cooked. The taco pizza was so bad it was barely touched. The other common trait was raw or undercooked crust. One of six were ok. I'd suggest the ingredients are from Walmart. We left at 735p it was like a ghost town. That speaks volumes. I'd suggest going to Aldi buying a pizza from the freezer section and making it at home. read more

Brought 3 new friends who have never been to Ach N Lou's before for lunch. First, they ran out of slices. By the time my slices were ready it was time to leave. Second the person taking the order asked if we wanted cheese sausage, which I interpreted to mean cheese OR sausage. I ordered two slices of cheese at $5.45 PER SLICE. When arrived at work the slice was half the size of the slice box and they gave me sausage. When I called the owner to report what happened, I was VERY disappointed to hear an unsympathetic ear. He took no ownership of the problem and offered NO solution. NONE. ZERO. He simply asked "what would you like me to do about it," in a sarcastic tone. Clearly, he is completely disinterested in future business from me. Fortunately, Gario's is down the street from the school in which I teach, and their recipe is identical. Had dinner with a friend on a weeknight. First visit for both of us. Looks can be deceiving as it looks small from the outside, but it's pretty big inside. I think there's a party room in the back with long tables--kinda screams kid's bday party. We had small appetites, so we ordered a 10" individual supreme ($12) to share. I like how they display the pizza sizing behind the counter on the wall so you know the sizes. Order at the counter and you pick up when they announce your name over PA. Pizza came out in ~10 mins. We got there at 5:30pm, so it was not busy, only 2-3 tables, but they did get more foot traffic with pick-up orders. Pizza was good: fresh ingredients and the crust was crispy all around and perfectly baked. We were done eating and chit chatting for awhile. A bus boy lugged a waist-high trash can to our table then asked if he could remove our trash. While it was nice he cleared the table for us, dragging over an open trash can was probably not the most hygienic or efficient way to do it. Fast and friendly service. Ach-N-Lou's is awesome, no doubt about it. I come here for lunch, as it's right down the road from work and the food is good. The employees are extremely friendly and make you feel welcome. The interior is a nice mix of booth and table seating, but there's a bar and also gaming machines. This place certainly deserves to have "pub" in its name. It isn't overly bright in here unless you're near the windows. Closer towards the pickup counter and bar, the atmosphere is very pub-like. If you removed the restaurant portion, it would feel like a dive bar (that'd be awesome!) I love me a good dive bar and maybe that's why I love this place so much. The pizza isn't bad but the sauce is a little sweet for my liking; it's very similar to Braconi's pizza sauce. The toppings and cheese are quality though, and the pizzas are well cooked so no complaints there. The thin crust is my favorite. If you choose, you may purchase their pre-made pizzas to bring home and cook at your convenience. Every time I've visited, I've witnessed many patrons purchasing pizzas to bring home and cook later, so they must be good. I'm just a lazy cook when it comes to pizza and prefer delivery, but maybe I'll bring some home one day. Their Italian beefs are phenomenal. Why? Because they are the size of a football and they sit in your belly like one. You honestly will not need to eat for a while after consuming one of these bad boys. What I love about them is they put the hot peppers UNDER the beef, therefore keeping them in place while you eat. It's not your typical giardiniera either, but pickled peppers (small jalapeno or possibly serranos) sliced lengthwise. It's different, but damn it's good. I also chose to have it sweet topped; the bell peppers are raw and diced which was again different, but surprisingly good. Portillo's has nothin' on Ach-N-Lou's. Even though they have a bar, this place is family friendly and not somewhere to come, get drunk, and make a scene. However, looking for a new angle, I purchased a frozen A-N-L pizza to cook in my own oven! "That's a different perspective completely. I decided to buck the odds in regards to label warnings regarding variable cooking time disclaimers, no warnings of "gluten", and not a single "peanut" was involved! Ordered a large cheese and large cheese and sausage just before 6 pm on a Sunday night......told wait would be 30 minutes......showed at 6:30 and there were 4-5 people in front of me....the dining room with the picnic tables was completely empty.....and got the pizza's about 6:40. When I got home and opened them they were GREAT, perfect temperature, and no problems on the drive home. I did get a beef for my dad, and it was VERY DRY -- tons of beef but way too dry to eat.
