My sister & brother-in-law, Jan & Graham Browning, introduced us to the Garlock's Tree Farm family tradition. We haven't missed a year since. Went here for the first time this year because we were in the area and all I can say is WOW! The tree that we got is very full, beautiful, and looks great. The staff was super friendly and helpful with shaking of the tree, bundling, and loading. I was honestly so disappointed. Only a quarter of the trees were marked for sale, all the nice looking ones being off limits. We ended up settling for a half bare 6footer @ $60. Felt super overpriced and real slim pickings for the first day of the season. Wont be returning next year. UPDATE: half the tree fell off. We love the location and although it takes some time to get there it's worth it. You get to talk to Santa, ride the horse carriage or tractor if it's raining and all of that for free. There is a charm up in the Sebastopol hills. It is the rolling hills full of Christmas tree farms. Garlock has a lot to do with the kids (Santa, Horse Carriage pull through the farm, bounce house, petting zoo, and Santa - free pictures even!) They do an amazing job navigating the traffic of people and cars through their lots. They have a large variety of trees! They have trees perfectly filled out and pre-cut. They have cut your own as well. The latter is my preferred method. Bring Fido! They are welcome! I love traipsing this sweet little hill and everyone there is incredibly friendly. read more

We went here last weekend with our 2.5 year old and 4.5 year old and had a great time. The petting zoo was EPIC and a HUGE hit with our kiddos. One of the better petting zoos we've been too. We also enjoyed the tractor ride, the lady dressed like an elf, and the letter-writing to Santa station. The Marin Mommies list of tree farms stated Garlock had a bouncy house, so we were a bit disappointed that there wasn't one this year. However, it was a great experience overall regardless! We also got a beautiful tree, and the staff was extremely helpful when we struggled to get it entirely cut down ourselves. We will be back next year! We visited the Friday after Thanksgiving. The tree farm was festive with a wonderful selection of trees to cut down and pre-cut ones. We enjoyed the tractor ride, picnic area, petting zoo, holiday store, snack shack, petting zoo, and craft station. The staff was joyful and very helpful. There was plenty of parking. read more

I've been getting my Xmas tree here for over 15yrs. We usually go around Dec 10 and have always had plenty of healthy and nicely pruned trees to choose from. It's a family operated farm and done with great pride and care for customer satisfaction. It's always a pleasant and enjoyable experience. They have many free activities incl. tractor hay rides, petting zoo, picnic area with tables and DIY photos with Santa. In hopes of starting off the HOLIDAY SEASON, the roomies and I along w/ friends trecked up North to Sonoma County in search of the PERFECT XMAS TREE. Lo and Behold we found (well after some internet research) GARLOCK TREE FARM. There we were greeted by nice northern Cali folks, and handed a saw, yup you read it right, a saw, we were going to CUT OUR OWN XMAS TREE. Although I was hoping there would be more selection of trees to cut, they do have Noble Fir, which are Pre-Cut, price varies. BUT, after several minutes of strolling around the TREE FARM, and it's a pretty sizable tree farm, we found her, the tree that will symbolize XMAS 2009!!! Although i'm not a huge fan of DOUGLAS FIR, this one struck me, and of course everyone else were in awe! and there she went, cut and taken home! It was a bit pricey for a Douglas Fir, BUT, it was the experience that mattered! Attractions include: Attractions Horse-drawn carriage rides (FREE to all customers) Jump tent Farm Animals - (NOT FREE by the way) Horse Rides - i didn't see actual horses that were not hauling a carriage though =( Picnic areas - it was just too cold and we didn't make food, but would have been fun to do_ =) Snack bar including fresh popcorn, hotdogs, cold/hot drinks, apple fritters & fruit Gift shop - ohh they sell mistletoe too!!! prices: $7.50- $8.50 per ft. read more

We had a great experience at Garlock tree farm on Sunday after Thanksgiving . They have a nice gift shop, plenty of great help to make sure you have a great time. They have a huge selection of cut your own and pre cut trees. We picked a beautiful pre-cut tree rather than cut one, Eugene shook out all the dried needles wrapped it up tight in plactic twine for the trip home and loaded it in the car for us. Its the freshest tree we have ever had, we just love it. We are going to make it a tradition & will be back next year. Hope too see handsome tall drink of water Eugene again too. We've picked our tree here two years now...great experience of cutting down your own tree (should you choose - you can also pick from pre-cut trees). Also have a small petting farm, food stand with home baked goods and apple cider, and a full gift shop with ornaments and other holiday items. Best part is you can bring your four-legged friends (dogs) along for the experience! Four stars only because tree selection wasn't amazing this year. read more

We visited Garlock Tree farm yesterday by booking an appointment. I was able to browse their cute little holiday store (great prices!) and be the only person in the store thanks to their appointment system. They have goats, sheep, a cow, donkey and pony for kids to look at.. my 5 year old couldn't stop talking about the animals. They have a great selection of trees and we didn't have a hard time finding our perfect tree. We took our time and walked all around, there's so much space we didn't run into anyone else. They have covid precautions in place including hand washing stations and sanitizing stations. I would highly recommend Garlock Tree Farm! read more

Not happy with the tree my wife had chosen from Costco, I headed out to find a better tree. I saw the signs for garlock Christmas trees and headed up the road to see what they had. It was 2pm on Sunday and not a short drive by any means but I needed a tree fast to appease my wife's appetite for tree decorating. Happy to see the sign OPEN! Only to be greeted by a kid with a chainsaw saying we aren't cutting anymore trees down???? Huh, I thought to myself.... did I fall into a time warp and miss Christmas? In front of me was about 100 trees that I could see. I thought to myself are you serious. Why would you have a sign that says open if you have no trees? Why would you not sell or cut trees six days before Christmas? So a big thumbs down for this place. I will be telling this story for years Don't waste the fuel. This place is the absolute best! we have gone every Christmas for more than 20 years. It is a very well run family business. The trees are all sizes and types and the prices are very fair. Good selection of both pre-cut trees and cut-it-yourself trees. (We walked away with a beautiful 8ft Scotch Pine we cut down.) They will shake the tree for you to get rid of loose needles and other surprises, wrap it and secure it to your car as well. Love this place! We've been going for years and made it a family tradition. We look forward to it every Xmas.

Cutting a fresh tree has been a family tradition of ours for the past 12 years. Since moving from the South Bay area to the North Bay in 2017, we decided to try to find a new tree farm last year and this year, sparing us the drive to the South Bay This was our first visit to Garlock Tree Farm and we had very high expectations. Unfortunately, not only was this the MOST EXPENSIVE ($95) fresh tree we have ever cut, it wasn't anywhere as tall or full (6 feet at best), as many we have cut in the past at other farms, and perhaps the most disappointing of all, it is the DRIEST. Within 2 days the tree began DROPPING NEEDLES despite following all fresh tree protocol, as we always do, and keeping the water reservoir full (though it's not taking much water anymore). For comparison, in 2017 (Peacock Tree Farm in Los Gatos) and 2018 (Raindeer Ridge in Sebastopol) our trees were almost as fresh when we put them out for compost as they were the day we cut them. This year's tree from Garlock was as dry if not drier than trees we cut during the worst years of the CA drought, a puddle of needles is under the tree every day. So incredibly DISAPPOINTED Just hopeful our tree will last through Christmas. We won't be returning next year. read more

This is a great family friendly tree farm. If you don't have kids, I don't recommend going cuz they run all around. Its so pretty and nice here. The trees are healthy and lovely. The give free hay rides and have tons of things for kids to do. The staff is really friendly, took pictures of the whole family for us, and even joined in our little picnic (sandwiches, chips and beer) Look forward to going back another year. read more

I would give two an a half if I could because I feel two stars is a little harsh. I grew up coming here for my family's Christmas trees, and I've carried that tradition over to bringing my wife ad children here. Unfortunately the price of the trees here are very very high. I understand why the prices are so high, but that doesn't change the fact that a 7 ft tree should not cost between 50-70 dollars depending on the tree. Being driven to get a tree somewhere else crushes me. But unless something changes, I can't see this place carrying on with prices like this. They are going to be losing more and more customers. There are a ton of Christmas tree farms to chose from in Sebastopol and they all seem to be located right next to each other. We went with Garlock because they offer free tractor hayrides. The drive to the farm was really scenic; beautiful old barns, miniature ponies, grand persimmon trees. Just a really nice Saturday drive. When you arrive at the farm beware because the parking is very tight and you will have to do some maneuvering to get out. Garlock has a small animal petting area but it does cost, I didn't catch the price. They have pony rides for $5, they sell snacks, they had a Santa Claus, and the tractor hayride. The hayride is cool; there is only one bale of hay to sit on, the main seating is benches. The driver takes you on a short drive around the trees which everyone enjoyed. We then got to work picking out a tree. They provide the cutting tool and a cart free of charge. The terrain is rough so be sure to wear some boots and be prepared to get dirty. They had a lot of trees but most of them were beat up looking and not very full or very green. We were able to find the perfect tree though. It was so much fun to actually cut the tree down and yell "timber". Great memories and photos. You will be on your own to cut and carry your tree. It's completely a do it yourself operation. I got an 8 ft tree for $73 and a Davis tree stand for $21. I really only wanted a wood stand nailed into the tree but they said I'd have to do it myself. They really pushed the Davis stand. Now that I have it, I highly recommend it, it's sturdy and way easier to use than a plastic stand. There were a ton of workers sitting around but they didn't offer any assistance, instead they sat there while my two very petite family members carted the tree to the car while I went in to pay. They will offer to sell you netting for $1.50 though. They didn't offer us twine so be sure to bring your own. They do take credit cards and you can get free mini candy canes by the register. Overall the drive, the hayride, and the fun experience of cutting the tree down made it worth every penny. One word of advice, I didn't think about the price of the tree until after we already cut it down. So if you are on a budget be sure to pay attention to the type of tree and the height. Next year I will check out some of the other tree farms. read more

The trees are high quality and reasonable priced. You can cut your own, so cool, or buy a nice one. They grow some and also import form Oregon. I have not had such a nice tree for years!! There are animals to pet and the people who work there are absolutely lovely!! They really embody the Christmas spirit. I locked my keys in my car and they stayed open for 45 minutes to wait for the tow truck so we could be somewhere warm. They even gave us cider! Who does that anymore? read more

This is the place to make and maintain a precious Christmas tradition. We have brought our son here since he was one and we look forward to it each year. My husband and I love the free tractor rides through the trees and free coffee :-). My son loves the petting zoo, jumpy house and Santa. We all love looking for the right tree. Watching my husband and son cut down our tree is heartwarming. I took my parents here last weekend and they can't stop raving about it! I knew how special it was and was thrilled to share it with my folks who were visiting from out of town. I hope to bring my grandkids here one day! read more

okay..tree was kinda expensive. about double what you can get at a big box store. but i didnt care. we bought a precut tree since i didnt want to get covered in mud. my wife and i was not prepared with the proper footwear. no, i was, my wife wasnt. the tree was very very fresh, and stored in water. this is huge, since most box stores dont do this. they shook out our tree, wrapped it for travel and sent us on our way. it is very DIY, so bring gloves. i had to carry my own tree, which i wanted to anyways. holidays are now over and the tree performed great!! we followed their provided instructions to the T, and it payed huge dividends. it stayed fresh up until i chopped it up and put it in my recycle bin. it shed very few pine needles..and most of them came off when i tried to drag it out. i'll be back next year. rubber boots for the wife and i'll bring a small chainsaw. read more

Every year my mom and I venture out in December to buy our families Christmas trees. Over the years we've gone to a variety of different tree lots and tree farms all over Sonoma County and we were always left a little disappointed. The trees would dry out very soon after getting them home and our heavier ornaments would hang from the branches. Overall the trees would lose the lovely fresh smell and look before Christmas Eve would roll around. Last year on a whim we discovered Garlock Tree Farm and we were delighted with the tree!! The day we went it was POURING rain so we quickly chose a tree from the pre-cut section in front and it was perfect! The tree was still fresh when we took it down in January! The branches were sturdy and the smell was so refreshing. The service of the staff is great and the cute little gift shop is a great place to look around while you wait for them to wrap up the tree. We can't wait to return this year for another wonderful tree; this is definitely the place we will buy all of our trees from now on! read more
