I started getting into succulents, and I needed a few things to get started. I was tired of going to Home Depot or Lowe's and then I remembered driving by King's Nursery! It's right next to Valero gas station, so sometimes it's easy to miss. S E R V I C E : Everyone working there was polite and asked me if I needed help with anything. They were all knowledgeable and they even were giving customers hot apple cider and fresh popcorn while shopping! It was amazing and made my shopping experience that more enjoyable. P L A N T(S) & C A R E: They had a huge selection of different plants (and of course a succulent section). They had beautiful pots for sale and all the medicine your plants need. Certain things were priced a little higher than expected, but I believe this isn't a huge chain store. For 27 years I have been picking up a cup of ladybugs from different nurseries. For 27 years, as soon as I let those ladybugs go they run every direction except my yard. Today I bought a cup of ladybugs from King's nursery. The gentleman at the counter said well hold on now make sure to let them go as the sun goes down. I said okay thanks and I didn't think too much about it. I was going to take his advice because he seemed pretty sure about it. 27 years all the ladybugs run away except today. They stayed put in the cup even though the lid was open and they will slowly disperse tomorrow and actually stay in my yard. I am really grateful for his advice. His intelligence his expertise will help my garden greatly. Thank you, King's nursery. I'm gonna go back and ask for more advice since they seem to know a thing about a garden. read more

Are you a gardener? Do you find the starter plant selections at Home Depot generically boring? Yeah me too. King's has been in the same spot since like forever (close to 100 years). Still family owned. Sells more esoteric plants and trees than you'll find at the big box stores. All employees are horticulturists. They offer expert advice. Even if you aren't a gardener you can roam around the lot for a 1/2 hour to soak in the pretty greenery and the peaceful vibe. Cheap & healthy entertainment. read more

I stopped by this nursery today and was pretty dismayed to see that they sell species that are known invasive species in California, including English ivy, and vinca minor. When I talked to some of the workers, I was met with "oh we recommend people put it in pots" (though notice that there is nothing indicating that English ivy is an invasive species and should not be put in the ground) and "I've never noticed it taking over roadsides." Just on my walk home, I saw it destroying trees and growing pretty much everywhere I looked, including in natural areas. If you're selling this stuff, you're part of the problem. Do better, woke California. Sell plants native to California that have wildlife value. And at the very least, stop selling invasives and encouraging their spread. read more

From the friendly and informative staff to the huge collection and variety of blooming flowers, veggie and herb starts, pots , gardening tools, soil and supplements, gorgeous potted flower arrangement King's has it all. I feel that their plants are very healthy. If you are having problems with a houseplant, snap a photo and one of the staff will give you advice on what's wrong. There are always employees walking around ensuring customers are doing ok. This nursery is absolutely breathtaking. Their selection of outdoor plants is impeccable. You'll find rare gems like maple trees, guava trees, various fig trees, passionfruit trees, and all sorts of vegetable plants that are absolutely THRIVING. The plants here are so so healthy and vibrant in color! I love that the plants are all labeled with their names. Prices are clearly marked on all of the plants and very reasonable for what you get. The staff are warm, friendly, and very approachable. The only downside I could think of was their lack of indoor house plants. The selection was extremely limited and some of the indoor plants didn't look too healthy. Come here for the outdoor plants! You won't be disappointed. read more

Exciting novel anything but basic! The staff are friendly and capable. We were introduced to new species as well as new varietals of old favorites. Plants are healthy and robust. I love King's nursery! I've been coming here for years and it always delivers a knowledgeable and beautiful experience. You can tell the staff love the nursery too because it is clearly filled like a labor of love with people who care about plants and love what they do. We always ask questions for whatever reason while we are there and they are always super friendly and helpful with information to share. I never feel shamed for not knowing and they are honest and happy to help. The plant quality is always superb and they get interesting choices not just the run of the mill options found anywhere. One of my favorite nurseries in the Bay Area makes King's feel like it's local love edition (Annie's Annuals). Fun and clever signs, caring staff, established plants growing all around, beautiful plants to purchase in various sizes - it's a really lovely spot. If you've never been I recommend just taking a stroll even if you don't garden because it's charming. Chances are you won't leave empty handed though. read more

After living in Sonoma County almost my entire life, I just this week discovered King's Nursery. Where has this been??? I cannot believe it. We're in a real gardening kick recently as new homeowners, and hubby has been pouring over the local scene for us to visit every nursery in the three counties. We arrived here on an early weekend after a hike in SR, and I was immediately struck by how beautiful the nursery is, even just from the road! Once inside the gates, I was thrilled with their approach to bees and pollinators, which is just up my alley as well. We grabbed a trolly and snaked our way through the surprisingly well stocked nursery. I did notice right off the bat that their prices are high. As mentioned earlier, we have been frequenting all the nurseries in Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties (and beyond), so we have been noticing prices. These are overall a lot steeper than what we've been seeing in other areas. Never the less, the quality of the plants was really good and the selection was excellent. We ended up choosing some gorgeous salvia for our hummingbird and bee friends, some blueberry bushes for our collection, and a culinary sage because we noticed ours is growing really well and he needs a friend. The items we picked were about $2-$10 more than what we have been paying which is not much, but some of the bigger ticket items were more like double the price we've been seeing. All told, this nursery is a well-hidden gem, and has the selection and quality that many cannot offer. Perhaps that's why they are able to charge more for their products? Regardless, we are excited we found them and will definitely be returning. Parking is free but limited on the street, and the cross traffic is busy and not super respectful of crossers, so keep that in mind if you're bringing littles with you. read more

They have more plants and types than you know what to do with at first entry but it is laid out in an easy to digest walkthrough experience. The prices were fair for the quality of plants you are getting. Very easy checkout process and loved the experience and ambience there. Kind-of weird. I've never purchased strong plants from here. Once I went back to explain that my tomatoes weren't doing well (just that plant, not others I bought elsewhere) and I explained that I did everything I could for it and the guy's immediate reaction was "Oh yeah. A lot of places will sell you bad stock. It's obviously just a dud plant." "But I bought it here." Dead silence. "Well, then you're not watering it enough. Another guy came in here and said that he was watering it enough and then realized his system was just missing it." "No. I watering it myself. Not to mention rain." "Yeah, I bet if you checked your see that the soil was dry." Another time, I asked the girls standing at the counter a question, yes, interrupting their conversation, and I got 4 of the meanest mean girl attitudes that I wasn't expecting from a Garden center. I wish I could give more than five stars because this place is basically Disneyland for adults like myself who can't stop buying plants. The selection here is fantastic and there is a huge variety of plants as well. My boyfriend and I love the array of succulents and flowers we purchased and the cashier who helped us was detailed and super friendly. I think I may have just found my favorite nursery. As I roll up in my shiny truck, Electra. I was greeted by a sweet guy named Dan at the gate. We were already off to a great start. Tending to walk into a nursery the same way I walk into a library, feeling lost and don't know where to start? As a super duper plant novice I walked in needing help and received the most immediate attention from Dan who helped me pick out some beautiful plants. His knowledge was on point and knew I was in good hands ! After a restroom break in the little girls room, I continued loading up my little cart and Jamie took over and assisted my in picking out more plants. I have 3 dogs, all are plant mushers and Jamie helped my look up every plant individually to find out toxicity. Hard to believe I was there for an hour and a half. She had the patience of a saint as I seemed to be a little high maintenance. (My words, not hers) After leaving Harmony Farms in Sebastopol, I realized how good King's nursery prices were compared to others. These guys have excellent prices and I will be returning. $150 later, I walked out with a cart load and some. Jamie even helped me load them up into my truck. I spend another hour and a half putting them in the ground yesterday. I'm in love with this place and kind of want to go back today. THIS PLACE ROCKS! read more
