So, I can't speak to how his alterations are for clothing or other items since I've never had any of those services, but as far as zipper repair goes Ben is the best! However, when I was picking up my item, there was another client picking up a dress and it looked beautiful. I had purchased a brand new piercing pillow that has two holes through the center and the pillowcase has zippers around each of the holes and both of the zipper pulls unzipped completely into my hand when I attempted to zip them for the first time. Others said my zippers could not be repaired and had to be replaced, but Ben not only fixed my zippers quickly, he was also reasonably priced. He did notify me the zippers themselves are not quality, but he was able to repair both of them and showed me how to use them correctly. I reached out to Ben as I just received some over sized polo shirts and I wanted them brought in. I made an appointment for the next morning. Location was easy to find and he made it easy to come in and tell me what I needed done. It honestly took him about 2 min to show me what needed to be done, which made it easier for me to not have to stand around and wait to get a better idea what needed to be done to make my shirts fit on me better. I dropped them off on a Saturday morning said it could be a few days latest Tuesday, he had them done by Monday before my trip. I came over and he handed me all 3 shirts but I honestly only had to try one, and has I put my hands in it to open the shirt to put over my head, I already knew it was going to be a perfect fit. While visiting family in Escondido, I purchased a secondhand dress that was lovely, but missing a way to secure the back as well as being a little bit too big in the waist. After finding this shop online Ben returned my call right away. The business is a small shop in the back of a home and Ben was pleasant as I showed him my dress and told him it was inexpensive so I didn't want to spend a lot on alterations. He was able to put in a couple of darts to take the waist in rather than cutting the seam and replacing the zipper (which would've been much more labor and expense). As for the closure, he suggested using hook & eyes, to which I said I could do myself. To my surprise, he went to his supplies and GAVE me the appropriate size:number of pieces to do it at home. Who does that?? He didn't try to convince me to let him do it or upsell his service in anyway, nor did he even charge me for the hardware! I have only the most favorable things to say about my experience working on a large order of 14 pairs of pants (different types of materials-jeans, sweat pants, specialty holiday pants, and tech pants) that needed to be taken in at the waist and some pairs also hemmed due to a recent weight loss surgery. Additionally, I brought in three suit jackets (one holiday jacket in a strange material) that Ben tailored to perfection. I am very grateful and I made sure to take a stack of business cards to share around the community. I obtained a quote via Yelp for basic services that might be needed and found his prices extremely reasonable! I arrived at his shop at a prescribed appointment time after work and he quickly pinned each of the items and wrote me a basic inventory of what work was needed and a price. He said it may take a couple weeks and he was actually completed with the work in a week! I was both surprised and extremely happy to get my clothing back, fully fitting, and at a fair price. He even helped me get the order into my car. There were no surprises and I was able to pay with my credit card for all services rendered.
