Ruined my jeans. I went in asking if they could patch it. Lady said they could. I showed up a month later to ensure they had plenty of time to fix em. She didn't patch them but instead she sewed them really bad. Guy got in my face when I said I didn't like it. Said he was calling the cops because I asked for a refund. I basically paid them to ruin my jeans. He kept calling me a child and said if he were to refund me he'd have to keep the jeans, which made absolutely zero sense. He also implied that I was stupid for assuming they tailor by hand. If I'd known they just throw clothes under the sewing machine and sew with their eyes closed, I would've just done it myself, maybe it would've come out better. This place sucks, and it's my fault for not reading the reviews prior to this. Maybe it was better before, but the current owner genuinely sucks. **Editing my review since he wants to reply and act like he was a victim** I went in calmly and he laughed at me for asking him to fix it. He kept insisting that I said I wanted it to be perfect despite me repeatedly saying that I wasn't saying that, and when I'd ask him to stop putting words in my mouth, he'd again scoff and laugh. All I asked was that the jeans be fixed. Anybody would be upset seeing some stranger treat them the way he treated me. We came to a conclusion that he personally would sew the pants, and risky as it was, I left them there. 2 months later and they weren't sewn, just thrown in the back and left to be forgotten. So I took my pants and the loss. Clearly his response is enough to show that he can never take blame for a job poorly done. Take your business elsewhere, might be a bit pricier, but worth the peace of mind knowing that your clothes won't be treated like garbage and that the tailor will actually care about the quality they put out. read more

I was disappointed, but respectful in asking for an adjustment to his initial alteration. Because the tailor had to move ONE button he became enraged, pushed his finger into my face with bulging eyes, and raised his voice at me in an undeniably threatening tone. He may (or may not) have talent for his vocation of choice, but he also has a severe anger management issue. And by the way, it cost me $75 for the button-move. In a former life as an investment banker, I was a snob and believed good suit tailoring could only be found in major urban centers - y'know, places where people where suits for a living. I took a suit jacket to Ivan on a lark (based on other reviews here). He took an off-the-rack coat and tailored it to perfection. I barely even have lat muscles (the ones you get from pull-ups that give your torso a V shape) and yet he tailored this so that I look like a pro athlete. Hell, I *feel* like an athlete when I wear what he tailors. I'll be bringing him many more things because the dude makes me look good. And what's more important in life than that - me, specifically, looking good? The man knows what he's doing and charges fairly. read more

I called to ask if they could measure me for a suit, and was told yes and it would cost $10. No problem. I explained I would take the suit back after ordering it and have them alter it. I ensured they were open until 6 since I work until 4:30, and they said yes. I told them I would be by after work. Again, no problem. I rushed over after work, arriving shortly after 5pm. Upon arrival I was told there was no one there to do my measurements "and to come back in the morning". I work through the week and that's not an option. No "sorry for the mixup" or any understanding about me wasting my time. I will be taking my business elsewhere, unfortunately. Pants worked on in short notice. We were going on a cruise and I needed a pair of pants tailored. They did a great job on short notice.

I brought my favorite pair of jeans and a sweater to get some minor alterations. I was very dissatisfied with what he did to my jeans. They are unwearable now. He did fix the hole in my sweater and his prices were very low so that's why I gave him 2 stars. Also, it took him over a month to do the alterations. I made four trips, once a week asking for my items. Twice he couldn't even find them. My husband used to take his uniforms for alterations back when we believe the current owners dad was the owner. He did a great and it's unfortunate that his son isn't living up to his dads great tailoring. read more

Had a pair of Joe's Jeans that were too big in the waist, and a PrAna jacket that had a hole in the elbow - Ivan took the jeans in and added patches to the jacket, giving them a whole new life! The jeans now fit like a glove and the elbow patches look like they were part of the original jacket design. Reasonably priced, high quality work, and a very nice man to work with. read more

So I first found this place because I needed a pair of pants hemmed and this shop was located closest to my house. Price was better than everywhere else and was completed very fast. But I have to give 5 stars for that and the bigger task I had completed after. So I had this old nylon tracksuit my grandma would always wear to the casino when I was a child. Well she passed last year and my sister and I decided to each take one of the track suits (she had maybe 3 total). Seeing that I was going on a trip with her in San Francisco, I figured it would be hilarious to wear it to the airport. Only probably was that my granny was a 2X all around when she always wore it and I teeter between men's medium and large. So I took it in to see if the impossible was possible and it was! The price I paid was more than fair considering the amount of work done to the tracksuit and the fact that he had it done before I left for my trip. I couldn't have been any more pleased with the outcome and my family definitely had a good laugh when they seen I had the suit tailored to fit me! But after being able to do the impossible with something so sentimental just made me a customer for as long as this little shop exists! read more

The girls are saying that you should always have a mechanic on hand doctor doctor and a lawyer but I think they should definitely add A tailor as well! Ivan has been around a long time and knows how to do everything from fixing your pillows that you dog chewed up, to altering your jeans, suites, dresses etc! He can make anything, and fix anything! I was recommended to this tailor by family and was told he did excellent work. I'm always for supporting local small business and figured since I already heard good things I should check this place out. I needed a jacket with sleeves taken in. When I arrived to the shop I was surprised how small it was and noticed it was a one man show. Right off the bat I was not impressed as the tailor did not say hello or acknowledge I was there until another customer told him I was waiting. He asked me what I needed and I explained to him. He very quickly just said ok just the sleeves grabbed my jacket put it on a rack, did not discuss pricing or how he would work on the jacket. He told me it would be done by the weekend. I came in on a Monday so the wait was no problem for me. He said he would call me when it was ready. Next Monday comes by and still no phone call from him. I call him and he sends my call to voicemail. He then asks me via text how he can help me. I get if he's busy then he could've told me that but him doing that already didn't leave a nice taste in my mouth. I began to ask him the status on my jacket and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about, I had to explain to him the color of the jacket what I needed done and gave him my ticket number. He then said I'll text you back when I find it. Almost two hours goes on and he has yet to reply. So I text him again, only for him to tell me it won't be ready until Wednesday now. After reading all the 1 star reviews on this establishment I already knew this was a reoccurring issue with this tailor. I decided I would just grab my jacket and take it else where. Mind you I do not live in the area and had to drive a half hour there and back and waste gas, time, and money. When I arrived at the store he was on the phone and again didn't acknowledge me until I had to show him my ticket. I told him I need to get my jacket that he hasn't even finished yet. This guy didn't even touch it as it was on the same rack where he put when I first came there. He felt no sense of remorse or apologized for the inconvenience of me driving down there or not delivering to his promise. I would have understood that he was busy if he just would've communicated with me. I grabbed my jacket and he said nothing to me as I left. I will not recommend anyone going to this establishment, rude, unprofessional, no communication, and no sense of accountability. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Similar experience to the other 1 stars - so take that as you will. Went to get a dress shirt hem cut and was told it wouldn't take long. Came back more than a week later and he hadn't started. Waited another week and he still hadn't started and both times he asked me what I wanted as if he had no idea who I was? This time, I told him I would go shopping for a bit just so I wouldn't have to make the 15 minute trip again. Came back 15 minutes later and he STILL hadn't started. Wow. Waited there while he started/finished and left quickly. Ended up going back there one more time because the front was uneven. Because this place is 30 minutes round trip from my home, I ended up wasting over an hour driving. Please think about getting a calendar and/or just getting better at your job. read more

Unfortunately, Ivan, the tailorable at Rivers, was absolutely incompetent in his work. Although a talented designer, as a onemanshow tailor, or more apt, an alter-er of clothes, I'd say for certain that he comes up wanting. I tried working with him as I like to support local talent but after paying him a substantial amount of cash upfront and 2-1/2 months passing with broken promises of work to be completed and on a weekly basis, considering the amount of work piled in his little atelier, I realized I'd made a mistake in choosing him to alter some very nice blazers that I kindly took back of his hands. He altered poorly, and now unwearable, a bathing suit and jeans also now so ill-fitting I gave them to charity and I'm out $100 bucks to boot! Disappointed obviously but will now use Nordstrom tailors and relived I did not let him ruin unwearable anything more. GO ELSEWHERE! read more

I guess I caught him in an off week? After reading so many good reviews I figured I would give this place a shot. Big Mistake. I brought a snowboarding jacket in that had a broken zipper which prevented it from closing the top 1/4 of the jacket. I initially brought it in to have the zipper replaced or mended. After looking at it, Ivan told me that the zipper replacement would be $50, but that he could put in some heavy duty snaps for less. In hindsight I should have had the zipper installed but I needed the jacket by wednesday. The day after I dropped it off, I called and Ivan seemed like he had no idea who I was or what I needed. Then he told me that the jacket would be ready the next day, which was the latest day as I was leaving for a trip the same day. 2 hours before I am supposed to leave for my trip, Ivan calls to say that he fixed the zipper.... Instead of the snaps we discussed, now apparently my zipper is fixed. Ok. Except when I show up to pick up my jacket, not a single thing is fixed. Ivan tells me that the snaps would have "put holes in the jacket". Which we discussed, and I approved, so long as the snaps worked. Oh but it's ok because he fixed the zipper? Nope. All he did was add a stop to the very bottom of it, while leaving the broken part BROKEN. So now I had waited 3 days to have my jacket returned to me in THE EXACT condition I left it with him. OH and the "zipper stop" he charged me $10 for to install, came off almost immediately when i zippped it up. Thanks to Rivers Tailor for one of the coldest snowboarding trips I have ever been on, never again. read more

When I first got to the store, it was closed during regular business hours, but I waited because a guy sitting out in front said that the store would be open again shortly. I took my jacket in to get the sleeves shortened - a super simple job since there aren't even any buttons or anything - just a simple hem. He said he would call me when it was finished. I stopped by a week later, but the store was closed even though it was regular business hours. After another week, I stopped by again, and he hadn't even started it yet! I need this jacket for an interview, and now I will have to take it elsewhere, since I don't get home from work on weekdays before this tailor shop closes. What a waste of my time. read more
