This place used to be good. But in the last two months they provided me and charged me with items of clothings that aren't mine. Additionally items of mine are missing. Very frustrating and stressful experience to realize items of your clothes are missing and you have someone else's clothes mixed with yours. I had a total of 10 items that weren't mine in my bag. I can a only imagine the frustration of the folks who's these items belong to. I am asking for a full refund and never coming back here again. I want to share some pictures about where Garment Valet delivered my dry cleaned clothes. As my buzzer system was not working, the driver thought it was perfectly acceptable to call me from an unknown number, not leave a voicemail, and accost me by saying I should know that I am receiving a delivery from them. I go to the entrance to find my dry cleaned clothes sweeping the floor. So I basically paid for dry-cleaning clothes that were left touching the floor, and therefore dirtier than what they were when I gave them for dry cleaning! Kudos to the service. The delivery driver came back and connected me to a manager named Victor who was most unhelpful. Let me point out that all this was after the fact that I was "accidentally" charged $5.00 for a laundry bag that I did not request for. I was told the system automatically adds this in certain cases and I was NOT supposed to be charged for this. read more

In regards to my last post where they lost an ENTIRE BAG of CLOTHES....They finally found it. BUT BUT BUT, had I never called them to say, "HEY MY CRAP IS MISSING", I am very curious whether I would have received a phone call with delightful news one day. I had a pretty lousy experience with these guys..It all started when they offered 30$ per month of free cleaning because I work in a building where they have many accounts. It seemed like a pretty nice deal. In the first month I went a few cents over the 30 allowance..rather than calling or asking me what to do.. they withheld my clothes and sent me an email saying I needed to give them a credit card number or they wouldn't return my clothes..also, they sent the email several days after I was actually expecting the clothes. I paid the small balance and was happy, even though I thought they could have handled it better. The next time I gave them an order (which was in the next month), they charged my credit card..wtf. when I tried to call them..their phone said they weren't available and hung up without a way to leave a message. I then got an email that cryptically said that they had taken it upon themselves to 'repair' a pair a pants for an extra 10$..which of course they charged my credit card. so much for my free dry cleaning. I was pretty annoyed and emailed them to delete my account..which they did without any questions...( I might ask what the problem was at that point if I were them). I'm going back to sweet old greek lady in my neighborhood who calls me sweetheart and darling..and does a great job on my clothes. The strange part about the whole thing is that I assume they offered me free dry cleaning to get on my good side so that I would be inclined to recommend them to the other people in the building...which is the opposite of what I would do now. read more

the 2 stars are purely for the fact that my clothes have consistently come back clean. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced though and the web interface is terrible. I have a litany of complaints, the least of which being that my communications with CSRs via email are ignored consistently, the biggest being that they took away a promo code after the first use that made me end up losing out on 4 consecutive discounts. Overall Garment Valet is an unprofessional, small time company that doesn't seem to value their customers' satisfaction. They work in a pinch though...if you need to use a laundry service and they're the only ones available, they will work but don't expect much. So I bought the Buywithme.com deal recently, and I have to say that I am thrilled with the dry cleaning services, and the wash/dry/fold services are decent, too. The only reason they don't get five stars is the fact that for our basic laundry totaled up to be $26.25. If we used the laundry in the house, it would have been $9. That's a big difference. Granted, there was some heavy stuff in there like big Restoration Hardware towels, but still, it was a lot. The dry cleaning was reasonable, particularly with pick up and drop off included. A comforter was $29.99, my winter jacket was about $21, and pants are only $5.99. The pick up and drop off folks were really pleasant, and the only thing that I would have liked was some sort of physical welcome pack or something upon the first pick up. The driver was really smiley and friendly, which was nice. We'll definitely be using the dry cleaning services again, and they do offer tailoring services too. The wash/dry/fold would only make sense if we both broke our legs and couldn't walk downstairs to the laundry because it was way too expensive to use regularly. I did like that everything came back compressed and folded, and that will come in handy when I pack for my trip in a few days! read more

These guys are great!! I've been using GV since 2007. I recently set up GV as what I thought was the most amazing perk possible for some of my staff and one of my managers forward me the Yelp link asking if I was sure they were a good service. GV is one of the best parts of my life so I thought I'd give a good yelp for them. I thought I would give a good yelp because for most people, unless they were pissed off about the elusive missing sock, no one is going to think to say something nice. Long story short, about every 2 weeks I put my laundry and dry cleaning outside my unit door, typically the next evening I get a text saying that the order has been delivered back. They seem to have pretty good inspection as chipped buttons are always replaced and sometimes my e-receipt states they they fixed a loose hem or garment tag(typically on my wife's items)....That's about it! Garment Valet has been a lifesaver the last year or so. While I do think it is a bit on the pricier side, I found their service reliable most of the time. I have had some issues in the past with delivery delays. On one occasion my laundry was mixed with another customer's, requiring me to confirm which clothes were mine from 2-3 bags of laundry. I would still recommend their service, but avoid customer service at all costs. I emailed customer service to complain about an error and delay in my order, which resulted in one of the worst customer service interactions I've experienced. After we agreed to cancel my pre-paid plan going forward, I was told my the representative that I should learn how to do my own laundry in a mocking tone! I got the Yelp deal when it was still around and chose the Pro Wash/Dry/Fold package. I then proceeded to have the best laundry month of my life. Pros: not having to lug my laundry to/from the laundromat; 24-hour turnaround time; great customer service; user-friendly website; laundry done to my specifications. I'd give five stars if the setup process for my account had been more seamless. It took a while to reach Customer Service with my questions, and I kept waiting for a welcome kit that never came because GV no longer sends those out (even though they're still advertised on the website). They also missed my first pick up. But everything went smoothly once the initial details were ironed out (and they comped me for my first order, which says a lot about the company). Oh, and those who are super-sensitive about how their laundry gets done will be glad to know that GV's incredibly attentive to detail. They'll call and email (and include photos!) if there are stains they can't get out, as in the case of my Red Sox hoodie, which had bled in a previous wash. I'm so glad that we anal-retentive laundry avoiders can have our cake and eat it, too. read more

Garment Valet is like a big present wrapped in shiny paper, but when you open it up you realize it's something lame, like popcorn. But then you eat the popcorn, why? because it's there and you're hungry. GV, with all its sweet promises of effortless laundering and next-day delivery, is hard to ignore. But almost every time I've used their service, something goes awry and yet I keep going back for more. why? because they're there and I don't have the time to do my own laundry. Order #1: I asked that my sweater be boxed. It wasn't. May not seem like such a huge deal to some, but quite frankly I'm not a fan of the funky indentations on my shoulders due to excessive time spent on a wire hanger. Plus, they gave me the option online yet didn't follow through. I complained. They refunded the cleaning charge for the sweater. I forgave them. I also included a number of women's buttoned shirts and requested that they be machine-pressed. Nothing on their website (then or now) indicates that women's shirts cannot be machine-pressed. Much to my surprise, they hand-pressed each of these shirts (or at least so they claim... that's the wonder about the hand vs. machine press, it's kinda hard to tell what method really was used) and charged me $5.99 for each shirt (well over the $1.99 for a machine-pressed shirt). I complained. They did nothing about it. I have never again included a buttoned shirt in an order since. (I've had this same argument with my local dry cleaners, but at least they only charge $3 to hand-press.) Order #2: No issues, but I also didn't submit any sweaters with this order Order #3: I sent a sweater, kinda just to see what would happen. Yet again, they failed to box my sweater despite my request to do so and to add insult to injury they were a day late. I complained. They did nothing beyond promise my laundry would be delivered that day (2 days later). (Maybe not a big deal, but if I'm paying a premium I want the service I'm paying for and that's next day delivery.) Order #4: I sent sweaters. They boxed the sweaters. Yay. They returned my special care laundry next day. Yay. I, however, also sent regular laundry. It's late by at least a day. They're not even sure they know which laundry bag is mine, which in turn makes me think there's no way they could be laundering my clothing per my specifications. Boo. I called, they promised me that my laundry wasn't lost and that it would be delivered that night. It was and they didn't charge me for it (and it was a hell of a lot of laundry). So, I guess I'll take it. This rating should really be 2.5 stars, but since I'm restricted by the system, I'm going with 3 stars vs. 2. They definitely could use some improvement, but they haven't royally screwed up (yet and hopefully not ever) and I still don't have time to do my own laundry. read more

So, it's taken a while, but I've finally gotten everything resolved with Garment Valet--as promised by the co-owner, they've refunded my entire order, as well as compensating me for the sweaters they lost (I had to provide receipts, which is understandable). We started using Garment Valet after moving to the Back Bay. We have a two-in-one washing machine that doesn't do the trick--it takes forever, is loud, and wrinkles everything. We pay 68$ a month for Garment Valet to come once a week and take 15 lbs of our laundry. I really want to give Garment Valet a 5 because they save my life, but I've run into a few troubles that only give them a 4. Pros -This is a life-saving service. -The clothes always come back perfectly folded and clean -Website and phone line are extremely easy to use -Customer service is excellent. -They pick up right outside our house. SO convenient and easy Cons -15 lbs is not enough for a couple. We really need 20-25 lbs a week, but it's expensive really fast. There isn't really a package that fits our needs -You can't send out a double load and do two uses. They have to be input in separately. read more

First off, I was confused about the online directions so I called the phone number listed- the phone rep was extremely patient and polite. I dropped my clothes off at Speare Hall and they we ready for pick up in a little over 24 hours, complete with free reusable laundry bag- a great plus since I'm always a fan of people who think smart about the environment. I've had a very positive experience with Garment Valet since I began using them in January (I switched from LazyBones). My clothes always come back clean and to my knowledge they've never lost anything (maybe a sock once, maybe?). I love that doing my laundry consists of throwing it in a bag and setting it outside my door. I'm also in a germy hospital all day so my dry cleaning needs to be done regularly, so the ease and trust that I've gained of the dry cleaning/special care service is a big part of my love for Garment Valet. Note: Minus 1/2 star because they are no longer next day service (now 2 days). I assume they did it to avoid a price increase, but I'm still bummed. read more

I have been using them consistently for a few months now and my boyfriend and I have lost about three socks and a bra strap (mine!) between us. We also ended up with one of someone else' very dirty socks once and another time our laundry was two days late. They're great, set my pick up online the night before, they come and pick it up, 2 days later I have perfectly washed and pressed laundry waiting outside my apartment door. This review is only for their dry cleaning and customer service. My work subscribes to Garment Valet. At first their service was awesome, very clean clothes, prompt pickup and delivery, no complaints. However, after about a year into using them they've been nothing but a headache. Their customer service is pathetic; you can never get a live person on the phone by dialing their toll free number and as of right now their website is down. Talk about spotty business practices. Fortunately through Facebook I found a local 617 number where someone actually picked up but it sounded like I had just woken up a college student, presumably from NEU, out of hibernation. Their 24 hour turnaround is an absolute joke. Normally I don't care but on one occasion I actually needed a dress cleaned within 48 hours for a bridal shower I was going to. I dropped it off on Wednesday in hopes that it would be ready by Friday. But no, I was sent an email saying I could expect it to be delivered on Monday. Are you kidding me? They told me if I wanted the dress sooner I could pick up the dress from the cleaners itself. So I trekked my way to a random dry cleaner by Fenway to get the dress. I think it's important to note that they don't clean any of the clothes themselves; they contract everything out to various dry-cleaners around the city. How is there any quality control or consistency by doing this? Oh wait, there's not. The straw that broke the camel's back is that I had 5 CLEAN dresses picked up and sent for cleaning. I did not put them in the red bag as instructed, or in the pile of dirty laundry bags as instructed. No, I had my clean dresses hanging with the clean clothes. What moronic delivery person picks up clean clothes to be sent for dry cleaning? What's concerning is that their website and phone lines are down right now, so maybe they went under? Garment Valet is the worst dry cleaning place you could send your clothes to. Not only do they wreck your clothes by labeling them with a pin or with a sticker that will stay glued forever but sometimes they leave the lockers opened! and misplace you items. I have had my clothes lost 3 times with them and in compensation they offer $70 for an item! PATHETIC! a piece i send it purposely because it costs more than at least $150 that or else I would wash it on my own. I LOVE GV! I've used them every few weeks for nearly 1.5 years. Only on 1 occasion was there a problem and when I called, they quickly remedied it and offered to re-clean all my items...now that's building loyalty. Suits, shirts, fine linens, scarfs, my wife's blouses and dresses--they handle it all. They pick up and drop off at my building at the Concierge desk, making things even easier. Words can not even describe my happiness with the service. I am beyond satisfied. GV does pickup and delivery. From dresses to shirts to bedding, everything is cleaned perfectly. I probably save 20 hours a month by not carrying, sorting, washing, folding my laundry. If you make a decent paycheck and want to enjoy life you should do it too. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! Extremely unprofessional people. They had my suit jacket for the first time I used their service and they tear a whole in the jacket. They recognized that it was during their handle that the tear occured but would not help pay for any reperations. Absolutely horrible. They lost all my clothes (it's been over a month now) and have TERRIBLE customer service. It is impossible to get someone on the phone who actually knows what they are talking about, they never call back when they say they will, they constantly lie, saying things like "this has never happened before" when it clearly has happened before, because tons of yelpers have already complained about it! STAY AWAY from this company! Here is a timeline of my experience with the company: 9/12/2010: sign up, schedule a pickup for the next day 9/13: clothes are picked up 9/14: clothes are not delivered as scheduled 9/15: clothes are still not delivered. Call garment valet- they have lost clothes, think they know where they are, they should be delivered tomorrow. 9/16: clothes are not delivered, no one at garment valet will answer my phone calls. 9/18: finally talk to garment valet, clothes still missing, should have them by tomorrow. 9/19: still no clothes, garment valet still has no idea where they are. 9/19-9/24: constantly call garment valet to check on clothes, no one as any idea where they are. I am constantly told someone higher in the company will call me with details soon, no one ever calls. Finally, they ask me for an estimated value for the clothes so that they can reimburse me. I estimate the value at $750. 9/24: get email from CEO, saying that he is sorry for losing my clothes and offering me $500 reimbursement (less than the value of my clothes) on the condition that I remove the negative yelp review I have written. That's write: HE OFFERS TO REIMBURSE ME FOR MY CLOTHES AFTER I REMOVE MY NEGATIVE REVIEW. I remove the review and he says the check is on its way, and credits my account $50 so I can try them again (as if I would EVER trust them with my clothes again). 9/27: no check in mail 9/29: still no check in mail 10/1: still no check in mail. I am starting to think they lied about sending it. 10/5: Recieve email from CEO letting me know they have found my clothes, and want to know when I will be home so that they can bring them to me and I can make sure they are all mine. I reply saying that I will not be home today and they can leave them outside my apt door (like they are supposed to be delivered.) I am told that this cannot be done, because "I want to make sure that all the garments are yours - just in case not I'd like to take them back with me to start the search. I think the weight may be off - so it is possible that some are and some aren't. Let me know when is a good time - if it doesn't work I will figure something else out. There are other problem tickets to solve, so I just wanted to get it done asap." I reply saying I will be home from 3:45-4:15. I go home after my class at 3:30 and wait for him, but he never comes. When I call to find out where he is, he says he could not deliver them in the time frame I gave him and they will be delivered tonight. I ask him why he didn't let me know he wasn't coming (I would have gone straight to the library instead of going home) and he says he didn't confirm the time so he figured I knew. Supposedly, my clothes will be delivered tonight, but I highly doubt that because i have already been lied too so many times. In summary: they lost my clothes, lied about it, offered to reimburse me if I took down a negative review, never sent the reimbursement check, and still haven't delivered my clothes now that they found them. this is a TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE company. Good: Sounds great on paper - love scheduling online, prompt pickups, email and sms notifications. Bad: - W/D/F clothes returned beat to hell - i've used a W/D/F drop off services for years with no issues - but garment valet returned me one full bag of pants, shirts, old sweaters, even jeans - all full of holes and burns! The other bag fared slightly better but they didn't smell terribly clean and were so static charged I had to rewash and dry myself. NO idea what happened but I definitely won't be using them again, lesson learned. read more
