It's baffling that this company has been in business for many years but still has a website from 1989. You can't scroll through photos of properties, instead you have to click in and then back out and then back into the next. Never mind that the pics have awful resolution. When clicking on the availability calendar it launches you to the Rental Policy page? Why do I need a policy page if I'm just trying to price out a property? Why do I need to fill out 3 fields about people in my party? How about I enter the number of adults and children and you add them up if you need to? If you update the website I'll update this review. I rented unit 4 at Harborside on the Mile Road in Wells. I didn't expect much space, but I did expect it to be clean and in good repair. It was neither. It was filthy from top to bottom and had a hole in the bathroom wall. The ceiling fan had a quarter inch of filth on it which spattered everywhere (see the shot of the wall over the kitchen table). The blankets had once been white but where literally stiff with dirt. The floor was so gross and the shower curtain was moldy. Garnsey responded with this: You paid a $60 cleaning fee and I will refund 1/2 back to you with your $100 Damage Deposit. $30 dollars! Not much considering I spent the majority of my first day cleaning their filthy condo unit! I used an entire tub of Clorox wipes! At least the next renter won't have to deal with this on their vacation. Do NOT rent from this company. You'll regret it. read more

I rented from garnsey 4 years ago and the house was dirty so this year I sent them an e mail asking if they cleaned between renters. Peter responded that every unit is cleaned. A huge red flag is when they ask you to bring your bedding and towels. This place was horrible. We should have taken pics of the shower. All the bathroom stuff was left behind. They brushed their teeth in the shower and the pink tub was white but came off after a day. I thought it was scratched. I called Garnsey and he responded that he didn't know if he could find a cleaner and offered us a studio someplace. We decided to have him look for a cleaner because at one point my daughter and her boyfriend were coming to visit and we needed our own rooms. We never unpacked because we were unsure if we were staying, and the place was filthy. We went to the beach with all our clothes on and waited to hear what was happening. After 3 calls to them he said he was pretty sure he had a cleaner. We checked in at 2:00. now it was 5:30 so we went back to see if the cleaner arrived. She had and she was disgusted. She said she wasn't done yet, so we went back to the beach and sat in the car because we didn't want to pay for parking again. A bit after 6 we went back and told her we needed to take showers for dinner. She said she was done and called Peter to tell him she was bringing the chocolate-stained mattress pad and comforters to the wash and asked him to bring us blankets. He brought 2 blankets that had holes I e- mailed him 2 days before I left and asked for $200 refund due to the fact that we left NY at 5:30 Am so we could enjoy a full day there, and the place was uninhabitable. He never responded. On my last day I drove there and talked to him, and he said he would refund me $100 because it was early enough for us to still go to dinner. This man has no business skills. I will never rent from them again and I encourage everyone to write reviews. read more

Bad customer service in taking 4 months to return rental deposits after a covid cancellation. Also charged two cancellation fees even though we provided plenty of notice and they were able to rent our week. read more

Have been renting for a few days a couple times a year during off-season for well over 10 years. Things have changed. All of a sudden there is a $55 cleaning fee added no matter if you stay 2 days or 7. Ridiculous amount since I was alone and for 3 nights. Also, they have now added a $200 security deposit. I can see this for the in-season business, but, really, for a 3 night stay for one person in her mid 60s? It's really too bad as the location and building is perfect. They have finally made these condos out of whack. I will now stay at the Lafayette for less or the same price and not have to deal with all this nonsense. I will get daily cleaning service included in the price and no deposit to have to wait for. TOO BAD! read more

The owner of this business is unreasonable. I still have not received my $300 security deposit back from a July rental (now almost October). The owner states the check has been issued and will only reissue with a stop payment on the previous check at my cost. The owner also stopped responding to my emails and openly laughed at me on the phone. It has been extremely stressful and unfortunate. I will never rent cottages from this company. Avoid using this company for rentals and seek out cottages rented by owners along Moody Beach. read more

I enquired about, but never booked, a seasonal listed on Garnsey Bros Rentals Inc. Now, two months later, they are threatening that I booked it and must cancel reservation of be charged. Their own policy states that no reservation is booked without deposit. WARNING: This is a very dishonest company. I would never do business with them. read more
