Garrett's has been a staple in our lives for over two decades, and it was time for a visit. My wife had a few pairs of earrings that needed surgery, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to reconnect with Jeff and Yvonne, the lovely couple who have been our go-to jewelers. As always, Jeff and Yvonne were the same wonderful people we've come to know and trust. They chatted with us, cleaned up the earrings, and worked out which ones needed to be sent off. Two weeks later, my wife returned to pick them up, and they were in a brand-new state. Repairs don't come cheap, but neither does a new pair of earrings, so my wife was thrilled with the results. I've read some recent and less than favorable reviews about Garrett's, and I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. However, I want to assure anyone looking for a solid family-run and ethical jeweler that Jeff and Yvonne are the most genuine couple I've ever met. It's been an absolute pleasure to work with them each time we've visited. As an Elite member, we have a duty to be unbiased, which means we should always say it as it is. However, I find it a crying shame when I see a negative review. I click through to the profile and realize that the reviewer has way more gripes than praise. They jump on the platform to moan without caring to understand the ripple effect their negative comments can have. 37 years of being my jewelers. Last 4 years they have taken advantage of my kindness. I took in a diamond and made sure they knew I wanted a grandmothers ring. Next thing I know I'm being sold a ring that cost a fraction of what they sold it to me for! I hate the ring! Never should you trust a jeweler that will gaslight you. My wife and I were in Capitola for a quick night away. We've been looking for some specific rings to match an existing ring she already has for some time. While in the area I found Garrett's on Yelp and decided we should pop in and see what they have even though they were a little out of our way. But compared to other shops I reviewed this one stood out. We were greeted with such warm and friendly smiles and service that we knew we were in the right place. They cleaned her rings while discussing the customization needed for what she wants. They had plenty of samples to look at and ultimately after waiting for 10 years she bought the rings she's been dreaming of. Because it was going to be stacked with an older ring they took that and had it refinished/plated to match the coloring of the new rings. We made a few trips out there between picking up and dropping off and each time we were welcomed like family. We definitely recommend that if you are anywhere in the area or even within an hour or so (like we are) to make the trip to their store. Lean on Jeff's knowledge and experience and get yourself or your wife a piece of jewelry that's absolutely the best! read more

Very disappointed. I took my bracelet in on 9/27 and was told 7 to 10 days and on day 14 I call them. It was still not done and he would call me when it was in. They did call me a couple of days later and went to get my jewelry and the one that I really wanted to be right rolled right off my wrist. I had explained in the beginning one of my objectives was that it was to big and I wanted a regular clasp on it. They did not measure my wrist and of course they insist they did and I will get to that. So the other 2 that was having links taken out of which he charged me over $100 to do one of them really is still to long by one link. So on to my favorite bracelet that is still not right. They took it back and were going to correct and still did not measure my wrist. I thought about that later and called saying should I come in and make sure since I did not want to come again. He said it was already at the jewelers and so I let it go hoping it would be right this time. The following Thursday, which was yesterday 10/25, I went in and while they did make it smaller it is still to big and that is what I was trying to correct. Here is where it really bothered me even more. When I came it was like they were looking for an argument. They made me feel like I did not have the right to have my jewelry the way I wanted it. I paid more than I thought I should and now will have to pay more for it to be right. I went to them because I thought they new what they were doing and I should have made sure they repeated back what I wanted and not put so much faith in them as jewelers. They say they measured it and it that were true why did it roll off my wrist the first time and why it still half way down my wrist still and spins around more than before. I have a small wrist 6" and the bracelet is just over 7 inches, that is to big. The restringing is nice but they really did not listen to me at all and make sure it was right. They told me I could twist it to make it tighter but that does not work it just comes undone. I am going to go to another jeweler to get it fixed right and spend more money but I will never go back there or refer them to anyone. I see great reviews and that may be for jewelry there already made but not for items like this. I am so disappointed and now will cost me more to have it done correctly. Be ware. read more

I can't recommend this place enough!! I first found it when my little brother wanted to design an engagement ring around a diamond passed down from our grandma. More recently, though, I got to know the Garretts very well as my husband and I took on the adventure of designing and creating our wedding rings for each other. He started with the engagement ring (without me knowing or contributing), and I couldn't be more pleased with it! It's my favorite ring I've ever seen, and it fits my style and needs (ex: not catching on things) perfectly!! Then it was my turn, and the Garretts helped me learn about watches so I could purchase my husband an engagement watch. Then I spent a long time trying to design my husband's wedding ring. The Garretts were very patient with me through my indecision, and they guided me away from some bad ideas that I had come up with. In the end, we created a white gold ring for him that fits his personality, his lifestyle, and coordinates with my engagement ring. And the last piece of the puzzle - they helped my husband design a beautiful wedding band for me that pulled the whole thing together. I'm so impressed with this couple. They're SO knowledgeable and helped me avoid SO many mistakes (bad material, etc.). They're also well connected in the jewelry industry, so they have people that can do designs that might otherwise be impossible.
