The day before my daughter's wedding, we went in to panic mode as we realized the dress she was…read moreprepared to wear would not work. (Leaving out details on purpose.) While a friend was prepared to drive her dress over last minute we decided to make a stop at our favorite neighborhood consignment shop. When we walked in and asked Amber if they had a wedding dress, we were so relieved when she said there was one in back. It took our breath away as she carried it out!! When my daughter was in the dressing room, Amber astutely whispered the price but told us to just let her try it on. We're so thankful because our frugal daughter wouldn't have even put it on. We just had manicures so Amber helped button up the almost perfect fitting dress. My daughter looked like a beautiful bride! As we walked out the stores two ladies from our incredible community were there and offered to help pay for the dress. I didn't feel like I could accept such an offer and Amber recognized it needed facilitating. Again, her discretion as well as the ladies' went in to play as they worked out a donation toward the dress. Amber even contributed as well! I just had to share this experience to show Jet Set is not just another store, it's part of our community and the greater good... it's part of our lives! This isn't the first time we found just the piece we needed at the right time, but it's certainly the moment that will forever stick. This is a gently used higher quality women's fashion store in the capitola mercantile thingy just…read moreoff the capitola esplanade. The mercantile mart thingy has it's private parking lot of it's own. There is also the nearby beach parking but be warned in summer both of those options-along with any street parking will fill up quickly. As in 10 am is too late quickly. Luckily there are some more extensive lots not too far away-that one over behind the police station never seems to be full and since this is the esplanade it's a very nice two block ish walk. This is a smaller store yet carefully curated. This isn't a thrift store as such but a higher end resale shop. There may or may not be super trendy brands but there will be great looking fashion. Strong selection of accessories of course and on my visit a better the average selection of boots. The stock rotates all the time so of course what you see on your visit may be completely different. Even so you still might consider a browse as you never know what might be in that day. Pricing is fair. It's totally possible to put together a very sophisticated outfit for less then a hundred dollars, and of course getting those few small things to complete your look can be done for much less, All in an very valuable source for the fashion conscious.
