I came to Treasures to fix my Mother's ring that was passed down to me. A while back I originally took the ring to a "Scotts Valley Jeweler"... I won't name names (hint, hint), and I wanted them to just size the ring to my finger. It had to be sized up a bit. When I picked up the ring the gold band was stretched thin into an oval shape which flopped around on my finger. I pointed this out and they said they didn't see anything wrong with it. When I came into Treasures I was greeted by a very sweet and kind woman and then met her daughter and her husband. It was so nice to get that warm family feeling like they were going to make everything right that the other jeweler had ruined. Sure enough they did just that. The ring was brought back to life and made very strong and expertly crafted. I also had them do tipping to my Moms wedding bands. Tipping is when they build back up the prongs holding stones in a band. Both rings look fabulous and I'll definitely come back to have them set more of my loose stones in the future. read more

The stone of my wedding ring came loose so I went to to Treasures to get it fixed. The woman in the front was very friendly, and the owner/artist gave me good tips about how to protect my ring in the future. He fixed it in under 5 minutes, gave it a shine, and charged a very reasonable $20. While I waited I noticed that had a lot of lovely jewelry options that were well priced for the quality of the pieces. I visited Treasures for the first time today, just to replace a watch battery but the friendly staff did not stop there. I mentioned that I had almost lost a diamond earring backing recently, so they asked to look at them since I was wearing them. Their jeweler tightened up the screw-on backing and gave them a quick cleaning, that was so nice of them! The watch battery I went in for was quickly replaced and we even chatted about some possible custom jewelry options for other jewelry I own. I'm looking forward to returning soon to start the process! After a recent misfortune that required my vintage wedding rings to be cut off in the emergency room, I took the brutally damaged pieces to Treasures, and met Fuzzy and Mike, who were just wonderful. Mike made many additional repairs that the rings had been long overdue for in addition to the shank repair, and I think these rings might look even more beautiful than on my wedding day 27 years ago. I love this store. I recently had my wedding rings revamped and am so amazed and pleased with the results. My wedding band had actually broken from a previous sizing & they were able to repair it flawlessly. Then, they perfectly sized it and aligned it to my engagement ring and welded them together. It's stunning and now they don't get misaligned and they look brand new even though they're heirloom rings about a 100 years old. I also had a necklace repaired and a watch battery replaced. The cost was spot on and they finished before promised. We have found our new jeweler!! I've been in here a few times and dealt with two different women who work the front and they are really, really sweet and very helpful ("Nice Ladies"). Unfortunately, the owner sits at a little half-window between the front and back part of the store like an evil little troll ("Evil Troll"). They Nice Ladies will be going about their business, professional, polite, and then the Evil Troll will stick his head all up your business and want to be a snot. I had noticed before that the Evil Troll had a tendency to be kind of rude but I never really paid it attention because of the Nice Ladies. The last time I was there for some pretty standard suburban jewelry-store stuff (watch battery, gem replacement, re-size or a chain, something like that) I saw a nice pair of earrings that might make a good gift for a friend's upcoming 40th birthday. I asked about the earrings and the Nice Lady showed them to me, I explained I was looking for a gift for my friend in the $150-$200 range and she showed me a few options. Apparently the Evil Troll didn't think that I was a very good friend because he started making comments along the lines that I wasn't going to get anything very good at that price. Two observations: 1) This is not a 25th wedding anniversary gift. It is not my mother's birthday. It's a friend's 40th and I think a $200 pair of earrings is a completely reasonable gift. Not everything you buy at a jewelry store is going to cost $2k. 2) If products in this range are so tacky, then why DO YOU SELL THEM? Do you see my point here? I'm trying to give you money in exchange for your product! It's called COMMERCE. Anyway that was just kind of the final straw. If you're going to insult people who are trying to buy things from you... they. are. not. ever. coming. back. Not for a $200 pair of earrings, not for a $800 necklace and sure as sh*t not for a $1400 ring. Moral of the story: I TRIED to shop local. We had a long engagement, and when we went to order the matching wedding ring, our previous jeweler said he coudn't order it anymore! Came in to have my antique wedding ring looked at. It felt rough and I had it repaired not that long ago. An antique jewelry store (Judi Wyant) referred me here. My ring is platinum. Repairing the prongs should be done with a laser. I walked in, Mike looked closely at it, and realized the prongs were too big. He adjusted them in less than 10 minutes and only charged me $20. I've done business with Treasures twice, and i couldn't be more pleased I happened by Treasures with my girlfriend, shortly after the chain on her necklace broke. The man behind the counter was extraordinarily helpful, and directed us almost immediately to an affordable chain, and we purchased it with his promise that if anything ever went wrong with it, we could bring it back and he would replace or fix it free of charge. We continued to browse the store, and he moved to take things out to show us. I informed him that we weren't planning to buy anything else, because I felt bad having him help us with no hope of a sale. He said he didn't care whether or not we bought it, he would show us anyway. That is simply great customer service, which is the most important aspect of a business to me. I believe this person was the owner, as he went on to tell us about making the jewelry himself, and pointed to the back room, where I saw some of his equipment. This is another important quality of a business: He takes pride in his work, and he's selling his work. He put his time and energy into the work that he's selling to you, and he knows exactly what went into it. When he was excited about a piece, it showed. In the way he interacted with us, he made me feel like a person, not a patsy on which he could made some quick cash. During this visit, I mentioned to him that my girlfriend's ring had lost its stone, and I wanted to replace it. After I described it to him, he gave a wide ballpark range, with the caveat that he couldn't guarantee that until he saw the ring. The range he gave was a great price, so I wanted to have him do the job. however, since I'm a college student in Palo Alto, I knew I wouldn't have time to drive all the way out to bring it to him. Instead, I e-mailed him with the pictures of the ring as it was, as well as the details about the ring from the manufacturer's website. He responded within 4 hours, and gave a very detailed estimate: He told me the price of the stone for each of the different grades, then gave the fee for setting the stone, and finally gave the potential cost if the prongs needed work. He concluded with a 'best case and worst case' estimate and details about how to ship it to them. I was reluctant to ship, so I put it off for a long time, and got estimates from a few other places. They gave estimates in his 'worst case' range, but told me that the ring didn't actually need any work, so I knew that it would probably be closer to his 'best case' price. I finally sent the ring to him, with a request that he try to finish by a given date. As soon as they received the ring, they called me to say that they had it. They said they were very backlogged, and it might be hard to fit it in as soon as I wanted it. A few days later, they called with a final estimate, and told me that it should be done by the time I wanted it. They called the following day to say that the ring was ready, and asked whether I wanted it shipped or would pick it up. I mailed the ring on Saturday, they received it on Monday, it was done by the following Saturday, and I picked it up on the next Tuesday. And this was after telling me that they were backlogged. We went today and picked up our ring, which they had waiting for me. The stone is even better than the original.
