I went to the La Brea store several weeks ago on a recommendation and had a great experience. James was super helpful and candid and gave me the room to figure out on my own what I wanted and stepped in whenever I asked for his opinion. For me it was a customer service win. I got my glasses about a week later and they had no problem custom fitting them for me. When I left, they told me to come back whenever I wanted to have the frames adjusted and so after a week of wearing them, I could still feel a little pressure and they still felt a little off center and so I went back in and they just kept adjusting them until I was happy. Couldn't have asked for more. The frames aren't cheap, but neither is the quality in my opinion. I've had nothing but compliments on them since I started wearing them. Would I recommend this place? Confused at all the bad reviews. I've been coming here for years with a variety of things besides just purchasing a pair of sunglasses. They offer complimentary readjusting/repair/tightening etc. They've brought a pair of glasses back to life after I stepped on them and thought they were a goner. They work wonders making old decrepit and crooked glasses look and fit new again. I've re-lensed everything from vintage glasses to Celine and Gucci frames you name it - sometimes for as cheap as $30 (pricing depends on the material/color, I've paid $30 and $60). Their materials are high quality. Idk why "made in China" still carries the stigma of being bad quality. Put a pair of GLs on and you'll know the quality and craftsmanship is there. Plus the lenses are from Zeiss, the best there is. Above all I keep coming back because of the stellar customer service. They've all gone above and beyond to help me in any way they can. They make me feel comfortable with my purchase, which isn't always the case when I try to purchase glasses elsewhere where I feel pressured. They don't try to upsell and offer different cost options. They're even honest when it comes to what looks good on my face, steering me away from a $600 pair of glasses to a $300 pair of glasses that were better suited for my face. read more

Absolutely incredible customer service! Broke my out of warranty GL frames in two today (right down the middle of the nose bridge). Called the folks at the La Brea store who said they could replace the frames if I brought the lenses from my current pair. Got to the store after work only to realize that I'd left one of the two pieces at the office. Instead of having me suffer for a day without glasses, the optometrist cut me a new set of lenses at no extra charge and fit them into my new frames right then and there. An awesome experience - I was in and out in around 20 minutes. GL has a customer for life. Can't recommend this location highly enough! Thank you!!! read more

The poor review is for this location's sh*tty service. I've been to GLCO's SF location and those employees are definitely more welcoming and helpful. I walked in the store today with the intent to purchase a new pair of sunnies that I had already scoped out online. When I walked in I was not greeted but I didn't mind it too much because the sales guy was busy with another customer. However when that customer left, he continued to ignore me. I made it pretty clear I was going to buy since I was talking pretty loudly about how certain I was I wanted the pair I was holding with my girlfriend. Still no sign of interest to help... I had to initiate conversation by asking if I could change out the lens of the sunnies and what colors I could pick. His exact response was "whatever colors you can think of..." without even looking up once. I just chuckled and walked away. I decided the sales guy was a jerk and I didn't want to give him a sale. As I was leaving, the guy must have recognized that I was no longer going to make that purchase so he decided to add on to his previous answer with something a little more helpful and squeezed out painfully fake smile. I walked out. Such a shame...could have been an easy sale! I highly DO NOT recommend this location. If you're in SF check them out or even online. So I was in search of sunglasses for my boyfriend. He really liked Garrett Leight sunglasses and we went with the intention of purchasing some. When we arrived we walked in and weren't greeted typically I don't care about that but the guy straight up looked at me and made eye contact and put his head down. Then we were deciding between 2 different pair of sunglasses and asked one of the workers which one is better and I was replied with "it depends" and that was it. Made me not want to spend my money on some $300 sunglasses when they can't even help or acknowledge a customer. Maybe it's because I'm a brown girl that looks like I don't have money to spend? Who ... UPDATE: after hearing back from Jason,the retail division manager over his concern over the matter. My boyfriend and I have them another try. Needless to say Jason was great, super inviting and overall cool dude! I appreciated him reaching out and giving us a great experience. Look, when you're paying a premium for high-quality frames made outside the Luxottica-industrial complex, there are particular baselines of service and product durability that one wouldn't be unreasonable to expect as a customer. Unfortunately, my most recent experience at this GLCO location left me feeling like I should've lowered my expectations. My wife gifted me a pair of Garrett Leight sunglasses a while back, and I've only worn them a handful of times. The other day, I opened the case they were in, and the shades fell about 3 feet onto the wood floor of my home, where one lens promptly shattered. I was a bit dismayed that this gently used product, which retails for nearly $400, was less hardy than a $100 pair I own from J. Crew. Having previously also purchased a pair of GLCO eyeglass frames, I'd think loyalty would count for something more than just the free frame adjustment I get every once in awhile. Well, I brought the sunnies into the store and explained the situation to the clerk, who informed me I'd need to pay $30 for a lens replacement. OK - a little disappointed that this might not be a courtesy service to comp for such an obviously fragile (and pricey) item. But hey, how about just $15 for one lens, since the other one's fine? Um (*look of skepticism*), we don't do that but let me ask my manager. And in the meantime, leave them here and you'll have to come back to pick them up. Great. Appreciate the valiant effort there, dude. I get a call that they're fixed a couple hours later, and I come back in a few days later to pick up. The gentleman informs me that, oh yeah, they said we can't do one lens only because something or other about the POS not being able to handle a single-lens-only transaction. So sorry, $30. But we did replace both lenses! Listen, in the grand scheme of things, $30 won't ruin me. But at least pretend that you tried harder. Or that you maybe even slightly believe the customer's story. Our-system-isn't-able-to-handle-non-standard-transactions is not a believable excuse and is, frankly, a little condescending. (And unnecessarily replacing both lenses is not a good look from a sustainability perspective.) I really do like the products this company makes, but for them not to back up the goods with a commensurate level of empathy and service makes me want to look elsewhere. read more

This place is really superb. I came here for some new glasses, and the people working here are some of the nicest salespersons you will ever meet. The glasses styles are all very nice and people give me compliments on my glasses from there all the time. Unfortunately, a part of my glasses broke off roughly about a month after I purchased them. It was no problem however because they replaced my entire frame for free! The glasses are a little pricey, but they are totally worth it. I really recommend you get your glasses from here. read more

This store is pretty awesome. Garrett Leight is the son of the founders of Oliver Peoples so it's save to say there is heritage here. The store is pretty minimalist with brushed concrete floors surrounded by architectural walls and shelves full of both glasses and sunglasses. Price is obviously going to be pretty steep at this place, but if you really put everything into perspective it's not much more if at all to some of the chains like Sunglass Hut and Solstice and this is a local business. The thing that really stands out about this place is customer service. The sales person spent a good chunk of time with me going over their line and letting me try on as many sunglasses as I liked. I didn't wind up purchasing it at that point, but you better believe when I am ready to add another pair to my collection, I will definitely be coming back here. I recommend this place if you have a hard time finding the right fit for your head. read more

Poorly made. GL products are made in China with a made in Italy price tag. I had a bad experience in the beginning as well when I asked if I could change the lenses a day after receiving them. They said it would cost full price. Unbelievable considering what I paid and that this is suppose to be a high end optical place. Usually they are excellent with customer satisfaction. I want to start this review off by saying I love my Kinney glasses very much. I've had then for a little over a year and they're comfortable, durable and I always get compliments. That being said, this review is for customer service and it is specifically for the La Brea location. Each time I've been in this location, needing an adjustment or eyeing a potential new pair, I have been ignored. Never greeted at the front and never helped when I looking at the selection. I haven't taken the time out of my day to write this review until today because I've always just chalked it up to "they're busy." But today I went in for an adjustment. Aaron was working and he has done the adjustments on my glasses for the last few times I've needed a fix. Every time I stand at the counter waiting to be greeted as I don't want to interrupt what he is doing. I stand there waiting for him to greet me, let me know he will be right with me, he's just checking on something for another customer, ask me to take a seat and he will be right with me...any type of hospitable interaction that let's me know that he cares to be the least bit engaged with me and my needs as a customer. Today he was helping another customer so I waited patiently, just across the desk from him, to acknowledge me. He said nothing. I made an attempt to connect with him by asking if this book in front of me was a catalogue...knowing it was some sort of lookbook or a magazine so he would finally acknowledge me. I placed my glasses on the counter and after minutes of being ignored he finally asked if I "just needed an adjustment." Although I was upset because I felt ignored, I continued to be kind and just said "yes, please." He did the adjustment and they were great. I said thank you and set them back on the counter waiting for him. He then took even longer to get to cleaning the glasses so I could leave. He did make a great connection with the other couple that he was helping and honestly seemed super knowledgeable about the eyewear but he was not able to multi task and was moving incredibly slow. This is not my first time having this interaction with him and I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt but he really just did not seem to care and I would never want to come in and buy another pair of glasses with him working because all I think he would care about is hurrying me through the selection and taking my money. I love my glasses and I love the brand but I spend the money and shop these type of products for the look, the fit, and the experience and Aaron really lets me down. All I'm asking for is a little acknowledgement and hospitality. Is that too much to ask for? read more

There's very few places that deserve top marks and this one has actually earned it. I've worn Rx glasses my whole life and pay close attention to what works, what doesn't, as well as interesting styles, and of course - aren't insanely pricey. Normally, I look forward to finding new and different looks but after I lost my first Garrett Leight frames, I shopped for better frames in every store I could for nearly a week - only to get the same exact GL frames I had before. You just can't beat them...I know, I tried! Customer service was above and beyond. I felt like I was calling up my friends whenever I spoke to them and the amount of knowledge and care they have is so much more than I've come to expect. I've recently purchased the Bentley from Garrett Leight because I like the style and it looked so good on me. I was getting a lot of compliments from other people whenever I wore it and overall I've been very happy with the glasses. After almost a month of wearing my glasses I noticed that one of the temple had a hairline crack which concerned me as it may worsen over time, so I went ahead and contacted their customer support. After telling them the issue and emailed them pictures of the crack they went ahead and sent me replacement not only on the damage side but both temples! I am definitely satisfied as a customer and will continue to support and proudly wear Garrett Leight. read more

So in my utter blindness, I accidentally smashed my Garrett Leight glasses, which are the only glasses in my lifetime that I have ever gotten multiple compliments on. Incredible products but more impressively incredible customer service. I've purchased multiple frames from both the Venice and La Brea location and the employees of these stores are the complete opposite of what we've come to expect from high end optical retailers. No attitude here. Only helpful people with a passion for pairing people up with great frames and lenses. On another note, I had a pair of shades that broke at the stem for no apparent reason. i love this store! they have so many various options and considering i'm very selective, i'm surprised i was able to find a pair so quickly. we stopped by randomly and i finally made the trip back to purchase the glasses. i was curious to know if i'd still like them after a month, but yes, i still did. the service here is extremely friendly. the first time i went, they showed me nearly a dozen options for my face. they'll input your preferences into their computer and when you stop by you just pull that information up and buy away. they also make the lenses here but since i haven't gone to the optometrist for my prescription i just bought the glasses. i wear them everyday so spending 300 bucks is nothing for the frame when you consider you use them every day. read more
