The manager, Kandi is a person that I have dealt with for decades. She has a remarkable talent in being caring and supportive. I have bought almost 100% of my frames there since they opened. The rest of the staff that I have come across lately, is not even close to her humanity. The product is great, however I don't care how great the product is, if the people that I deal with are off-putting, I won't return. As a side thought, I noticed the complaint by Matt B. Oliver Peoples was bought some time ago by Luxottica. However, the original location which is the one on Sunset, retained it's independence if I understand correctly. So if I am correct it could follow that the "local" Sunset Blvd. store might note neccessarily be informed of what Luxottica's site offers. read more

Guy who works there is so stuck up and thinks he invented the OP brand. Went in there a few weeks ago to buy some new sunglasses after being a long time patron of the brand. The lady working there is very nice but the guy is so rude and will take any opportunity to make you feel like you don't belong in the store. Also went in to get my sunglasses tuned / cleaned up and they fit better but gave them back smudged up. Makes no sense. Not going back to this location. read more

Things have changed here. Service / wow They're way nicer and way more helpful. The styles are better but they still dont give up on their classic designs. Visited Saturday, June 26th 2021: Greatly appreciate that the staff were masked. I also appreciate that there is a sign on the door, though it could be bigger, letting people know that a mask is required. What I DON'T appreciate is that management is not allowing staff to enforce it! Dear management: I understand everyone needs to get back to business, but I also know that there is still a pandemic, not everyone is vaccinated, and there is a variant that is on the rise in the US. I love Oliver Peoples(OP) but only this store because this store is their original where the 2 founders still own it since it opened 30 some years ago (wow before I was born...haha). Though OP has been sold to Luxottica just like all the other name brands, this store still carries some of the specialty frames and sunglasses since it is not a corporate store. It sure is too bad that Luxottica basically have monopolized the sunglasses business. There really is no individuality anymore when it comes to sunglasses. Whether it is your top of the line Chanel or Cartier, or if it's your RayBans or Oakley, they are now all made from Luxottica. Since the founders are still involved in this store, they understand the need of being unique instead of just offering all cookie cutter sunglass. I recommend this store highly however why just 4 stars? Well, it is hard to give any sunglasses store 5 stars because I sure like to see a top brand that is NOT owned by Luxottica. I have a pair of Cliftons that are about three years old. I love these sunglasses but they have seen their share of wear and tear. So I decided to take them to Oliver peoples and see if they had any repairs/maintenance options. I was greeted by Rudy, the store manager who pretty much gave me a quick rundown on what could be done. He was kind, professional and most importantly very meticulous about social distancing and had a Hand sanitizer dispenser available. Rudy suggested that he'll contact me as soon as the lenses are replaced and that he'd give my sunglasses a 'full tuneup' as he likes to call it! He is very knowledgeable, thorough and helpful. Thanks man, I am sure you will make them look like new! Also appreciate your kind words to be extra cautious as a motorcyclist. The Last time I was there I felt like I was unwanted in the store . I literally was escorted out of the store by someone who worked there . There were also assumptions made about what I could afford . The guy who escorted me out of the store made a comment about how he couldn't afford frames either if it wasn't for his discount . It's a shame I really like this brand and location . I've Only been here a couple of times and I've easily dropped $1k just on lenses alone . I wouldn't recommend coming here if you are a person of color and or "not obviously monied". The customer service is not equal amongst customers. read more

This is not a review regarding the service or the products. I am a long time customer and have always enjoyed shopping at this location. I stopped by the store earlier this week to get my frames adjusted but noticed that there were customers inside with no mask on and noticed that they also didn't have any signs indicating that a mask is required to come inside. We are still currently under a mask mandate as there is a new variant going around the state. I don't feel comfortable going in to this location anymore and I wish they would follow the state mandate and not put their customers at risk. read more

Get on their email list for special announcements and sometimes discounts or sales. You could shop Oliver Peoples at fine department stores but pay them a visit and you might notice the selection here has some unique and different styles compared to other locations.Parking is convenient and usually plentiful during the day. Excellent glasses for excellent "Peoples" This was my 4th time coming here, twice a few years ago, and again last week and today. This time, however, I came armed with a coupon for $150 off a pair of prescription glasses. Nevertheless, with all the bells and whistles added, your new oculars can get up there in price. In case you are wondering, the coupons usually arrive in the Spring time and will begin arriving after your first visit there. I am pretty sure you could sign up for their emails or mailing list beforehand... I have not gone through this route so don't quote me on this. Fortunately, the service is always great. Kelvin was helpful in picking out the right glasses for me. Additionally, Oliver Peoples never gets too busy and I have always received timely and hospitable service. Most importantly, their selection of frames is amazing! I highly recommend going to their website beforehand and writing down the names and colors of your desired frames, in order better to help you make your decision and visit at Oliver Peoples a lot faster and smoother. read more

This is a fantastic place. It's been around for many years. Excellent service. I use them to fix my glasses. They always get it right and work with you to see what you like/need whether it be tinted lenses or a new prescription. Glasses experts, very professional and careful and honest. Good service. I give the Oliver people's glasses 5 stars as I'm a long time buyer of the brand and love their products but I give 1 star to the service we received. No one greeted us even though there was 2 gentleman standing behind the counter. No one helped us but when another couple came in both of the guys went to help them. I'm not sure if it was our looks or something else that didn't appeal to the guys working here. We asked for coffee they said they don't have any, we asked for water (as we have been in store browsing glasses for over 45 mins) and they said they don't have any water. The guy said that it's a new policy and that the store can't afford to give out water to customer. It's surprising that a brand like Oliver's people treat customers who are paying over $300 a pair of glasses like that... and that's how we won't be coming here anymore. read more

Couldn't be happier with my latest Oliver Peoples experiences. Having a petite face the Blithe sunglasses were the only specs that fit. After 17 years of wear they were destroyed. I went to this Oliver Peoples excited and fully prepared to to buy a new pair of glasses. I had looked online and had noted a handful of frames I was interested in. But what an unpleasant experience it was. The employee who 'helped' us was disinterested and unhelpful. He seemed annoyed at any questions, declared with confidence that they only had one style in a particular colored frame I was interested in, though later we ended up finding more styles in that color on the shelf. He even commented on my nose bridge and said it would be difficult for me to find a comfortable pair of glasses (I assure you my nose bridge is quite un-extraordinary.) Came in to get some OP's repaired after my dog barely chewed on an earpiece, and the super dope Sunglass Hut Plus store employee with the superiority complex of a fucking priest proceeded to shower me with the following gems: 1. 'You still got the dog?' Implying I should put down an animal for chewing on sunglasses. 'Yes I still have my dog.' 2. 'Yeah I'd be mad at the dog but, usually its the owners fault.' Thanks man! Appreciate the life advice! You are wearing a name tag! 3. When Father Sunglass Hut asked what kind of dog I had, I responded with 'a pit bull.' Condescension and surprise spread across his face. 'Really?! I would've thought you had something, you know, sweeter.' Wow! 4. Then Father Sunglass Hut proceeded to scold me on how pits are nothing more than 'a utility dog, bread to protect, like a gun.' Totally man! Super cool and thoughtful mentality toward an animal! After calling out the insanity of comparing something you love and feed to a fucking gun, Father Sunglass Hut blessed me with: 'okay yeah......i'll accept that.' Totally man! I thought I came to this place because I wanted straighter earpieces and a hinge tightening, but what I NEEDED was to be lectured by a man who greets a customers simple request with implications of being gay and how maybe I should put down my utility Dog for chewing on a fucking accessory! I buy or refer atleast 3 purchases a year with this company and I have been to this, San Diego, and Malibu locations. I'd have to say that this is the worst of all three. Forget about a follow up call or if its been 2 1/2 weeks since you dropped your glasses off for a product defect. Out of 5 times, I have only been greeted by someone nice and willing, one time. I'd appreciate it if it wasn't such a drag to help a loyal customer. Anyways, enough with the complaining, that will be the last time I deal with that location. I have to say San diego is the best. This place is run by pros. Everyone I observed was attentive, listened well and treated each customer respectfully. This is the kind of place that highly values customer service. But, most importantly they updated my prescription so that I could see much better. The people who work here go out of their way to help you. On one trip, I tried their patience with a request to get my glasses cleaned/balanced during a busy rush. They helped with a smile even though many clients were glaring at the staff and customers with piercing death ray glares. I can't say enough about Oliver Peoples glasses and sunglasses...been going here for years for my prescription and non-prescription glasses. It's not cheap, I'll forewarn you...BUT, the glasses are not only chic but durable, stylish and warrantied!! For the life of your specs, OP will adjust and replace things for ya!! So if the nose-grippy thingy starts to stretch out as your nose gets bigger with age, they'll fix it so you don't get those annoying indentations! And, they keep your file on hand...good stuff. Cool thing is that once you pick your happy little pair of specs, you get to choose from a WIDE variety of lens types including color and polarization. I only wear Oliver Peoples or Mosley Tribes by O.P. because of the quality. Granted, almost all sunglasses these days are ultimately manufactured by the same company, but these brands in particular are great fitting, very durable, always stylish, last a long time and are actually WORTH the money, which is very important to me because I basically live in my sunglasses. Good lenses, frames, etc. Unlike garbage gimmick brands like Gucci, Armani, Dior and all the other trendy crap plastic sunglasses that some people (suckers in my opinion) get fooled into spending $500 a pair on, because they think it makes them look cool or rich or they don't know any better about quality and believe price is actually a direct reflection of quality. As the saying goes, "a fool and his money..." But hey, to each their own. As for service, this place gets an A++++. They are always friendly and will usually service my glasses for free, if I need a quick tighten, nose guard replacement, cleaning etc., which I really like. This is how it should be with an expensive pair of glasses and high end store. The only reason I give 4 stars is because I can often find the same pair online for cheaper and while I'd much prefer to buy from this store, I don't like to give my money away for no reason and delivery to my house is more convenient. Went in last week with my 15/15 prescription from blackstone and placed an order, then walked out a week later looking fly in my new Bernardos complete with color enhancing midnight express polarized lenses. 2013 -- All Black Everything The two associates I talked mainly to were Kelvin and Dennis, both cool guys and very helpful. Kelvin helped me customize my shades, and was chill when I had to make about 5 calls to my insurance agent on a Friday night, which took an extra hour. Overall, pretty great service for a high-end, Bev Hills/ WeHo boutique, which tend to be more often then not on the pretentious side. Overall, when you're spending 500 to a G on shades, it's all about the look and performance, and nothing compares to the clean lines and visual experience that comes with a custom pair of Bernardos. I love this place! The sales people are friendly and helpful. The inside of OP is clean and simple, so it's easy to go around the store and try on the glasses. If you want glasses or sunglasses that will last you a lifetime, then oliver is a place for you. The spectacular spectacles can run from $200 and up, but it's worth every penny. I shop Oliver Peoples because the quality and style of their product is fantastic and they stand behind it. If they break, bring them in and they will fix them and they have never balked at making an adjustment to the frames - no matter how many "it's just not quite right"s I have thrown at them. I shop the sunset location because I really like the staff. I got my first pair in Orange County and I felt like the staff there didn't care that I had entered the store at all. When the arm broke off, I brought them in here to be fixed. While I didn't feel ANY pressure to buy something, I still felt catered to and I was there a while! I tried on every single pair in the store multiple times and Franz gave me his honest opinion on each one while chatting away pleasantly, excusing himself occasionally to help others who came in as I browsed. In the end, I bought another pair and have since gone back and will continue to - when people ask me where I got my glasses (which happens a lot) I get to smile and say, I got a guy, Franz, at Oliver Peoples on Sunset! read more
