We truly couldn't have picked a better photographer to capture our entire wedding week. Our time with Gary began with our engagement shoot in Laguna Beach in which Gary took all of our style/location preferences to heart. He went out of his way to find unique locations and backdrops for us to take our photos at and even helped us loosen up a bit with some pre-shoot libations! Gary's experience with Indian weddings was also extremely valuable for our mixed Indian-Western wedding. He was able to explain many circumstances that we could expect to help us plan accordingly. Some of the most memorable (yet critical) moments we had with Gary were outlining our minute-by-minute timeline - which he did so meticulously alongside our wedding planner. We also can't thank him enough for problem-solving when we needed it (i.e. if we forgot certain elements that needed to be in the photos/part of the look, he was on top of it directing helpers to do XYZ). We also noticed how by the actual wedding day, many of our guests knew Gary by name and were singing praises of the way he could keep order and help us very efficiently take so many photos. It can be tough with a 250 guest count AND a large Indian family :) To us, Gary felt like a friend. He knew when we were pushing our breaking point and needed a break, he knew how to make poses fun/relatable, and he sent us the sweetest letter once our photos were ready. And the photos turned out INCREDIBLE. So many beautiful moments captured that had us tearing up and such a wonderful photography style. My husband and I hired Gary, One Story, and his team to do our wedding photography and videography and they did not disappoint. We first met him during our engagement shoot, which was part of our package, and while the weather was gray and overcast, Gary got some great shots and even faked a sunset. For our Indian wedding, his team was with us for both days and we now have endless photos to look through and give us "the feels" all over again. My wife and I could not be any happier with the product and customer service we experienced with Gary and the rest of the crew from One Story Weddings. Prior to meeting with One Story Weddings, My wife and I had already selected a photographer and was only interested in shopping around for a videographer. By chance, or some sophisticated log rhythm, I came across a few of wedding videos by One Story Weddings after searching different wedding venues in the area. I was very impressed with the quality of video that they were making and their amazing story telling ability. Scheduling an appointment was easy and Fast. We met Gary at their studio in Orange County. My wife and I were very impressed with the videos he showed us and the prices of the packages they offered. We were also pleasantly surprised with the amount of time Gary spent to get to know us and offer a run down of our wedding day. He explained little things he had picked up over the years and gave us great insight to details we never thought of. After the presentation, Gary and I began talking about photography in general and I shared with him my background in my hobby of photography and wedding videos. I told him how hard it was to find a photographer and or videographer who understood light and basic composition and explained how we ended up settling on a photographer that did a good job at my sisters wedding. Gary is amazing and if you're looking for a photographer, you must consider him! He came highly recommended for our wedding and we are so happy we gave him and he lived up to the big responsibility of capturing the key moments for this special event. Before the event, he spent a good amount of time getting to know us and asking what was important to us, helping build the timeline so we got all the shots we wanted (as he's supported so many weddings he can predict pitfalls - like guests showing up too early), and clarifying expectations of his photography style. On the day of the wedding, he made us feel comfortable and relaxed by being his cool self, by helping guide our poses, and by taking enough pictures so we felt like he got it but not taking too many so that it was annoying. He also helped navigate pictures with guests (kind of a receiving line) and moving through them quickly, taking the social blame of having only a short time with each group. After the wedding, he provided the beautiful pictures in a timely manner, and in a nice app we could share with family without having to download all the pictures. They were so vivid and dramatic, as he had discussed with us. I can go on and on but will make 2 final points: 1) Gary was incredibly flexible with everything we asked for, he really wanted to give us what we wanted and 2) he is an excellent photographer. Because a lot of the example pictures posted on instagram and here are so dramatic, I was a little worried that there wouldn't be as many "normal" pictures but that was my naivety and there absolutely are a range of pictures of all sorts. Gary was absolutely phenomenal. From the beginning of setting up the shoot, he was flexible, easy going and super well mannered. When we got to the site, he was very warm and welcoming and made us instantly feel comfortable. In fact I'm still a little embarrassed how ill prepared we were for all the questions he asked! The amount of detail and thought taken into walking us through the process, his vision and plan made us feel that Gary would be someone we could trust with documenting our wedding. ENGAGEMENT SESSION Included in our package was a 2 hour engagement session, which Gary used to the fullest extent. Neither my husband or I had ever taken professional photos before, and to make a long story short Gary was able to transform our initial awkwardness into really amazing photos (I won't give away his secrets). We barely recognized ourselves and had a hard time choosing our favorites. The whole time Gary made us feel comfortable and really took charge of the photo session to get the best shots and angles. Our original photo shoot location was changed last minute due to recent wild fire activity, and Gary expertly recommended two new locations that would capture the outdoor look we were looking for at such short notice. This gave us the opportunity for two different kinds of photos and outfits, so in a way it was a blessing in disguise. Gary got the photos back to us within a couple of weeks and all on a really easy website that we could download the photos and view them in a gallery or purchase prints. We were able to use quite a few of them to display at our wedding. WEDDING DAY Gary and his team were always one step ahead the entire day, being completely transparent with what their plan was, navigating us through the next step and all while being funny and easy going. On a day where it feels like a million things are happening at once, I was 1000% confident that Gary and his team were taking care of getting the best shots and documenting all the elements of our wedding day and felt they did most of it behind the scenes aside from the planned, posed shots. They mastered the perfect blend of being there at the right moments while not being aggressive about it. Looking through our wedding photos I'm actually convinced they're ninjas with how many different shots and moments they captured. Actually I didn't realize after the post wedding bliss had dissipated, that what do with our wedding photos would be a thing in itself. For someone like me that was secretly missing wedding planning, this might actually be fun. Gary got them back to us a little over a month after our wedding in the same easily downloadable and accessible website that we got our engagement photos but organized by different categories (e.g. Ceremony, Reception, Bridal Party, etc). Much to our surprise instead of just sending us the link, he scheduled a meeting to present the photos to us in person beforehand. This makes a difference, since he put it together in a really cute slide show format to help us relive the day through our photos, walk us through the website and then went over options for albums, prints, etc all in a way that didn't make us feel pressured to purchase. Gary has access to professional printing vendors and manufacturers, so I'm confident the quality will be unlike what we would get through any random online dealer. If I could give Gary 6 stars on here, I would. Where do I even begin? We love Gary! Hands down best vendor at our wedding. My now husband and I met Gary 6 weeks before our wedding which was on 6/11/16. Our original photographer went MIA and bankrupt and when I found out about it I was panicky and stressed. How am I going to find someone 6 weeks before the wedding?! We met up with Gary and immediately were in awe with his work and ethics. He's super organized, professional, answered majority of our questions without even having to ask and very straight forward but respectful at the same time which I truly admire. In the 6 weeks we had, we were able to do an engagement shoot (which was unbelievable, him and Daniel (videographer) were outstanding), receive our guestbook which had our engagement photos in it, and our metal enlarged print which was displayed at the wedding. Gary worked hard for us and it can be seen in his work and communication. Every time I would email, text or call him, he'd have a prompt reply. If he wasn't able to reply right away he would still let me know that he was working on something else and he would get back to me by a certain time or date. He is a man of his word. He has always followed through with everything he says which is so important not just as a vendor but as a human being. On the wedding day he had a crew of about 5-6 people. Some doing photography, others doing videography. Daniel, Jake, Ragi, Rob and Henry (sorry if I forgot anyone!) all worked together without a hitch and dedicated the whole day to us. They worked non-stop and Gary lead them flawlessly. And boy can these guys make you laugh! We're not one for posed photos but Gary and his crew knew how to make us feel at ease and have fun at the same time. There's so many inside jokes that I still laugh about. We had a Same Day Edit shown during the reception from Gary's company Pixel Perfect Wedding Films. Due to the busy hectic day, an Indian wedding and the reception right after; Gary wasn't sure if he'd be able to capture the grand entrance and first dance in the SDE. He was very open about letting me know it may not work out and I was totally okay with it. I understood the day was a busy one and not everything will be edited into the video. To my surprise he was able to get the grand entrance and first dance in! Best surprise ever. I still watch the SDE about 4-5x everyday. He captured our day beautifully. I trusted Gary for the music selection and he couldn't have chosen a better song. Just PERFECT. By the way, we haven't gotten all the photos, video or album yet and I'm writing this review now because I already know everything we receive will be SPECTACULAR. Thank you Gary for saving us at the last minute and showcasing your amazing talent. I was introduced to Gary's work when I saw the beautiful photos of friends that used him prior. I knew i wanted him to take my prewedding shots. He was so easy to work with, honest, and patient with us. We needed some guidance and Gary took the time to educate us about everything.
