The shortcomings come in quality of work sadly. They didn't get my simple job correct the first time and aimed to correct it the second but even then it wasn't 5 stars worthy because it wasn't done right the first time. I had to take time away to come back, that's just a hassle. I've no doubt that if Gary himself did the work it'd be 5 stars but he relies on his workers to deliver and in this case they just didn't do the best. Love this place. I've been going here for years, with multiple different cars. Gary and his guys do amazing work and they don't rip you off. He's honest and up front about everything and doesn't sneak in random charges. He works with you. I had a neighbor hit my car while it was parked on the street, Gary was great about the whole thing and understand when tensions got high between the neighbor and I. He did the work, as promised, but not long after it was done the paint started to chip and crack. I took it back right away and he got right to getting it fixed without any additional charges and as quickly as he could, considering the paint needed to set properly and he wanted to make sure the job was going to hold this time. After my beautiful 2015 Subaru WRX was backed into by some careless driver, I went to check out a few other shops before Gary's and absolutely no one beat his shop. Other shops pretty much told me that i could bring my car in a different week and start it later, but when I went into Gary's he got on the phone right away, helped finish dealing with the insurance for me and got an adjuster from my insurance to take pictures of my car within 2 days. After that a brand new door was put in and the dent and chipping paint was fixed inside. All of this was done within a week and one day! The starter on my van died on Memorial Day weekend. After calling around to a few local shops to inquire about replacing the part, I found that the "big name" shops wanted to charge a premium for working on a holiday and a 100% mark up the part that could be bought from a retail auto parts store. Gary was willing to do the work for a very reasonable rate and allowed me to bring the part in. I had my van towed in and he went right to work on it. I had no problems with this shop or Gary until Gary refused to fix my blind spot monitoring system. I left my car to get some scratches fixed on my back bumper. This resulted for new paint to color match. I came to pick up my car and was pleased with the work, until I started driving and noticed my blind spot monitoring system didn't work. I called Gary telling him the issue and he was nice enough for me to bring my car back in and check it out. He couldn't figure out the issue and told me to check if Mazda covered with warranty. First of all, when I brought my car in the blind spot system worked perfectly fine until I picked up my car so why should I take it to the dealership? Gary fought with me and kept saying it wasn't his workers that messed it up even though Mazda told me that the sensors are sensitive when the bumper is taken off that they are not to be touched. So instead of apologizing and taking care of it, I get grief from the owner himself? I don't think so. Just because I am a young woman doesn't mean to take advantage. When the dealership specifically tells me that it's the shops fault, it's the shops fault. Also he kept saying it was a coincidence. Coincidence my ass! Own up to your own fuck up. I contacted Gary's when my truck needed repairs after a couple fender benders and two tire blowouts that ripped away the side of my truck bed. From the estimate all the way through to the repaired vehicle, their staff was courteous, professional and quick. They ordered all the parts in advance so by the time I left their office after dropping off my truck, it was already on the lift being worked on and I was back on the road in just a few days. This is the first time I have ever submitted an online review for a business because my typical consumer experiences don't usually result in a relationship that I feel strongly enough about to share with others. I work hard for my money (don't we all?), and I have very high expectations when it comes to receiving good quality work at a fair price with exceptional customer service. After having Gary work on three of my cars in the past year, I now feel sufficiently qualified to share my personal experiences with the rest of the world. The first car I had Gary repair for me was actually my wife's car. Over the years, she had accumulated a few minor scrapes on the front and rear bumpers. While she was away visiting her family, I decided to get the car fixed as a surprise gift to her. I took the car to the body shop that the local car dealer uses, and I received an estimate that was much higher than what I could afford. Nonetheless, I was still determined to get the best quality repair possible for my wife's car. After reading countless online reviews, I decided to go see Gary. He assured me that he could repair the car just as well or better than the other guys....... but at about half the cost. I was a little skeptical, but I decided to give him a try. Needless to say, Gary delivered on his promise, and after about eight months, the car still looks great! The second car I had Gary work on arrived at his shop under much different circumstances. After having my tires rotated at a local tire store, I drove out of their facility only to have one of the front wheels fall off my car within the first quarter mile. As one can imagine, this was a rather terrifying experience, and I was so fortunate that no one was injured as that unfettered wheel went sailing past me into oncoming traffic. After briefly surveying the damage to my car, I realized that I needed to come up with a plan quickly as my car was now stranded in the center lane of a major street during rush hour traffic. I immediately thought of my previous experience with Gary, but it was late in the day and I didn't know if he would be in the shop to answer my call. To my relief, he not only answered the phone, but he also immediately sensed my urgent need for help, and he took care of everything even though it was already past his normal closing time! He called for a tow truck to deliver my car to his shop that same night. He spoke to the owner of the tire store, and he spoke to the tire store's insurance company on my behalf. He fought to keep the insurance company from declaring my car a total loss, and he made sure that all the replacement parts came from the original manufacturer and not cheaper aftermarket providers. When it was all said and done, my car looked even better than it did before the incident at the tire store. By this time, I realized that Gary is a truly exceptional human being. Shortly thereafter, I decided to get a professional wax job applied to my prized sports car. My car is black, and after personally "messing up" the paint job on other black cars that I had waxed before, I was very concerned about even the slightest swirl marks that might be inflicted on the paint during the process. Gary completely understood and appreciated my concerns. He assured me that my car would be in good hands, and he was right again! The wax job was beautiful. There were absolutely no swirl marks, and the car honestly looks every bit as perfect as it did on the day it rolled out of the factory. Amazing! When it comes to customer service, Gary gets it. Auto body repair is in his blood, but he also knows that a highly satisfied customer is a repeat customer for life. Gary's employees did the same high quality work on all three of my cars, even though the value of each of those cars varied greatly. In all three cases, I am confident that I received the best possible service, regardless of the price I paid. Gary is a fair, honest man who sincerely cares about his customers. He strives to make the aftermath of a car accident as stress-free and pleasant as possible for his customers, and I am very grateful for this. When I needed some transportation help, he didn't even hesitate to have one of his employees give me a ride home AND a ride back to his shop later when my car was ready. When my wife's car needed some minor repair to a fender that had popped out of place, he personally fixed it in a few minutes for no charge. And when I bumped into him by chance at a local restauarant, he remembered me by name and was happy to shake my hand. No one ever looks forward to getting in a car accident and then putting their lives back together afterwards. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. So far, my family and I have been pretty fortunate. fortunately i haven't had to do any major collision repairs, so Gary's Auto Collision is my only experience. while the work done on my car was minor, the repair was flawless. just as important as the high-quality repair, the process was surprisingly smooth and extremely efficient. i dropped the car off on Monday morning, and it was done by Wednesday evening, as promised. Gary and his staff were professional, responsive and thorough during the whole process. Gary explained in detail exactly the repair process and work flow. Buyer Beware! Gary the owner is a good talker but if you have an issue he will not be there for you. I had my 1969 Camaro totally refurbished by him. This was to include a paint job that was to be guaranteed for life from DuPont. After many months and delays I got the car back only to find huge bubbles, cracks in the paint and other distortions. Gary fixed spots 4 times but it continued to bubble up and distort. Even though he told me a certified painter was to paint the car, this was not the case. He would not fix it or help me. He will not repaint the whole car and stopped fixing the bubbles etc. On my receipt he only wrote a guarantee to only say 1 year. Clearly I have had this car my whole life and saved my money for this life long dream. To only get a year guarantee that was not even honored is unacceptable. I am trying to fight this but I have not had any real luck so far. I have also heard of others, first hand, who have had similar problems. This shop is a scam. He is only interested in quick turn around and taking as much money as possible from insurance companies. The workers there are not certified. Don't take your car to him. There are many other very good auto painters in this valley. Garys Auto Collision is one of the worse companies I have ever dealt with and the owner is clearly a liar and not a reliable person. read more
