I brought my car to Glisson's for an oil change a few weeks ago. Yesterday, I was driving (long…read moredistance) and started smelling burning. I pulled into a gas station and found the oil was basically empty. I was surprised, as the oil change was so recent. I inspect further and find the oil filter has a major gash in the corner ... with oil stains around the gash. I add 2 quarts of oil and watch the filter. Sure enough, a drop of oil starts to form on the gash, eventually dripping. My question is: how could this have happened? The gash was way too big and obvious to not be noticed (on the edge where you grip w your hand). Did they knowingly install an obviously damaged oil filter? If so, why?? One theory (and this is only a guess, but I'm otherwise struggling to hypothesize a reason to give Glisson the benefit of the doubt here) -- I remember when I brought my car to them, I was under the weather, so as a courtesy to make sure I didn't spread whatever I had, I wore an N95 mask. The person at the shop looked at me weird like I was their political nemesis, so I explained that I was wearing it bc I was under the weather and didn't want to infect anyone else, but that didn't seem to change their disposition at all. Again, this is just a guess, but I truly cannot fathom why they would have installed a visibly obviously damaged oil filter on my car. (If someone can provide a valid hypothesis, I will delete this review.) Either way, my engine may have extensive damage due to driving without oil to the point it started burning. Arrggghhh.

The owner, Jeff Thomas is complicit in the abusive behavior of his employees, based on my personal experience. I brought my Range Rover in for diagnostics and a repair quote. When I politely asked for clarification on certain billing items, the service advisor (Tony Lesko) became increasingly abrasive and ultimately refused to continue working on my vehicle. I was instructed to pick it up immediately and pay only for diagnostics, which I did. At pickup, after I paid and signed only the receipt, I documented my vehicle with photos and video. *** While I was seated inside my car preparing to leave, the service advisor came out of the building, banged on my driver-side window, and then reached his arm inside my vehicle, multiple times, without my consent in an attempt to honk the horn, while continuing to make aggressive remarks.*** This behavior was intimidating, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. The interaction was recorded. While on the premises, I also noticed that a brake warning light was illuminated, which had not been present prior to bringing the vehicle to the shop. That raised serious safety concerns for me. For clarity: tampering with a motor vehicle or interfering with its operation can constitute a felony under New York law. I am not making an accusation, but given the conduct and the vehicle condition upon release, this was alarming and unacceptable. Customers should be able to ask billing questions without being subjected to intimidation or physical boundary violations. I have filed formal complaints with the appropriate agencies and would not return.

Went in for a pre purchase inspection of a 2015 M3. Took around an hour and came back with a…read morethorough report on the condition of the car. Staff were accommodating, price was reasonable. Feeling good about the shop, I also asked for a quote on lowering springs installation. I was quoted around 900 dollars for the job, which I later looked up the book hour from BMW on this job was only 4.5 hrs. They also wanted 250 for alignment. Both these two quotes were on the higher end. I ended up driving to the stance shop at Queens and got the springs installed along with alignment for 400 dollars

I took it to the dealership because I didn't believe them where I bought my car and they said those was the original parts so stay away. The Crest Collision Department provided excellent customer service. Car repairs can be stressful, but Fabian, in the Collision Department, and Art, in the Parts Department, made the experience much better with their positive attitude and consistent communication. We received update calls from Fabian on the progress of the repairs, which we greatly appreciated even when they were still waiting on a part. It was a great comfort to always know what was going on with our vehicle, and for that peace of mind alone, we would absolutely recommend trusting Crest Collision for any car repair needs. Alan Byer Volvo has lost a customer for trying to give them an extra $4,000.00, and here is why…read more They refused a VIP Warranty renewal on a nearly mint car! You hear Volvo ads all the time promoting their 'upgradeable to 10 year VIP warranty' but I am here to tell you, it is only talk. Blahblahblah is all I got. My wife bought a loaded 2020 Volvo S60 AWD T6 Inscription, Polestar tuned car, in Jan of 2021. Certified with 3,500 miles off corporate lease, it had a five year VIP warranty. However, the warranty Expired Oct 15, 2024 as that was that was 5 years from the 'in service date;' yet neither Volvo nor the servicing dealer here in town Alan Byer Volvo, ever gave us notice of expiration nor an offer to renew, which we would have willingly done. Thinking about it running out soon, I reached out at the end of Oct. and was originally told OK. A week later I got a revised email saying: 'sorry, two weeks too late' to renew the warranty on her 24,000 mile car with no accidents, incidents or missed service appointments. Volvo corporate in turn referred me Back to Alan Byer. What nonsense. So now any interest we had in a 2025 or 2026 Recharge or XC upgrade has now become a Tesla, Audi or Lexus search. After owning maybe a dozen Volvos over my life, this will be our last. In researching this issue, I discovered Volvo is now owned by the Chinese Geely Holding Group. Shame what their fine name has become.

I believe in second chances and gave Alan Byer another opportunity to win my business. After speaking with employees of Alan Byer, my son and I took another drive to Syracuse and test drove a vehicle that would become 'the car'. After driving several, after I got into the one I purchased, I knew it was the SUV for me. The comfort, the smoothness of the vehicle (being someone on the road a lot, this is important), and the safety ratings (of course safety first). The XC60 is amazing. Still figuring out the semantics as my car 'slammed its brakes on' as I was backing into my garage - still figuring out the bells and whistles of the car, but I can work with that. It's a tight squeeze in the garage next to my husband's truck, so nice to know the vehicle is adverse to tight spots. However, it does fit in the garage and just working through the tecchy features of the car. Any way, the vehicle is amazing, Alan Byer was easy to work with. Staff was great from Jackie, Stephen, Deb, etc.
