Praise the lord for karaoke thursday's. definitely recommend getting their early as they stop taking calls for songs at 10pm. my only complaint is that the inside bar and outside bar are not on the same page about pricing. The pot roast was tender but nothing spectacular, and they were out of mashed potatoes, which would have made for a better side dish pairing than French fries. The brussel sprouts and nachos were both very good appetizers. The upstairs is going through a renovation and currently lacks any character or warmth. Open year round, Gary's is a great place to stop in for some basic bar food, great drinks & delightful service. Our server was on point with drink refills & recommendations. Speciality cocktails were crafted perfectly. The French onion soup was very bland. I added allot of salt and pepper. I ordered BLT-toasted, if they could.. they apparently couldn't. Been here many times since Gary became the new owner. It's a fun place with a regular crowd and friendly staff! The food is typical bar/pub food. Dinner on a busy weekend but we were seated right away. The three of us all had different seafood options - fried clams, fisherman's platter, lobster roll. All were excellent. I don't have the receipt but all the food and drinks seemed to be priced fairly. Service very good and very friendly. Janene (I think) was our server - very nice. This is NOT the rival bar from "Cheers!" My family and I stay at a camping resort in neighboring Casco Maine called Point Sebago. We were looking for a good place to get some comfort food and hang out on a Friday night. Yeah we're gone here a couple years ago and remembered the food was great and the ambience was fun. The servers were excellent even though they were short staffed. When you step in it's like you're stepping into a house but it really has the feel of a sports bar. The restaurant is just a stones throw from a marina near Sebago Lake. I recently had the lobster roll which was a lobster salad with mayo and celery on a perfectly buttered and grilled New England style hotdog bun. Some other members of our party had the fish and chips which was not only very delicious and flaky but also plentiful. They have a great selection of local beers and as mentioned before our waitress was excellent. If you're ever out on Sebago Lake or are going through Naples, Maine and looking for a quality bite to eat definitely stop by Gary's Old town Tavern. Also by chance we bumped into one of the owners named Barry. He mentioned the owners are veterans and their support of other military vets is a parent in the restaurant as well. Gary's is a refreshing change to those "seasonal" establishments geared toward temporary service and cookie cutter menus. The staff is always pleasant and clearly love their jobs. The food is consistently spot-on and the beer selection on an exciting rotation. The beer garden is huge and spread out enough for social distancing with the occasional live entertainment to spice things up. I used to enjoy going to Brays but my experience at Gary's has been uninspiring to say the least. The food we received was not enjoyable. We tried the mussels, the pizza, fish and chips, and mac cheese. The kids mac was apparently kraft. The pizza was just a layer of greasy cheese burned on top of what seemed to be cheap store-bought crust. The mussels were tough and the broth not enjoyable. The fish and chips were passable but with thick doughy crust that was a tad slimy on the inside. The service was polite but slow. The facility is nice. There's a nice outside space with games and seating. Inside has plenty of tables with plenty of room. Overall I would not recommend this place because the price was high and the food and service don't meet with my expectation of a $100 lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids. read more

The menu is neat, but the food and presentation is pretty bad. Third time going that I've been let down. I've ordered quite a few things off their menu, a few items a couple different times - specifically the fried brussels. They don't half them so you receive these massive fried brussel sprouts that cannot be cut & are not cooked entirely through. Maybe if they used smaller ones it could work out - but they don't. The bacon and cheese barely gets melted on. Looks like one big mess. Also had their sausage plate - mistake. I don't know how they cook their sausages but it seems they either microwave them or boil them, leaving a chewy and tough skin. I had the peppers and onions with them - another terrible choice. I can only imagine that they cook these early in the day and then throw them in plastic bags with oil and heat them up again. It tasted very foul, completely inedible. The fingerling potato's (home fries style) that come with the sausages are a nice touch though, no complaints there. Tried my friends onion rings and they were actually really good. I ordered a Reuben and fries. It was the most average Reuben I have ever eaten. I don't mean this to be a bad thing. Knowing what to expect and getting it has its virtues. It was average size, average quality, well proportioned and cooked perfectly. It tasted good, went down fast, and I felt a little nauseous after eating it. You know, a Reuben! The fries were slightly above average and correctly proportioned to the sandwich. Is this the most bland review you have ever read? C'mon, you know it is. Well... as I said, an average experience, food wise. The prices were a bit above what I like to spend on average, but no so much so that I would avoid the place. Things are getting pricier everywhere, sadly. I do think that the owner needs to get better plated pictures on Yelp ASAP; as the ones posted are, well, gross looking. So gross, in fact, that I almost "pre-gamed" my food before meeting friends here. I can safely say that everything looks far more appealing in person. And, again, the beer... Easily 20 on tap, perhaps more. Tended to lean towards a more hoppy profile, but who's list doesn't, these days (Allagash aside). I certainly wouldn't mind meeting friends there again. read more

We are definitely out of "townahs", Making a yearly trip to Maine. A traditional stop for us would be Gary's/Brae's. I look back and my review last year was less than great. Our visit this year seems like they're on the right track. The wait staff was very helpful and very patient as we were really having a get together and talking quite a bit not ready to order immediately. The beer Was better than last year - nothing flat that I know of. They were happy to give Tastes before you commit Which is always nice when you're at a table rather than the bar. I had my first truly disappointing experience at G.O.T.T. tonight, we went in for a family dinner as we often do on weekends. Although I was satisfied with my meal (the black and blue tenderloin tips) my boyfriend ordered a bowl of lobster stew (our favorite item on the menu) the first disappointment was the size, it was the size of the cup we used to get, but even more disappointing than that was the taste, it used to be a delicious homemade cream and brandy base now it tastes more like a creamy tomato soup from a can.
