Local place that has upped its game, now serving a decent food menu to go along with its extensive beer menu. Beer purists may find the brews to be average, but I'm more than happy with the variety of beers offered and satisfied with the ones I tried, especially the Peanut Butter Milk Stout, There is also hard seltzer ("hard water") that can be flavored with any of the Italian soda flavors, a hard tea, and hosted cider, all gluten free, as well as mixed drinks. No question there is something for everyone. So happy to have more food items to choose from to go with the beers. A nice assortment of options at a reasonable price point. I had a Rueben panini with kettle chips, which was satisfying. My friend has the Birchwood Signature Soft Pretzel that is made with spent grain from the beer production and served with warm beer cheese, which also was decent. A standout was the server - Ella Q - she was super helpful at explaining the menu, flights, and was so pleasant! Knew just when to check in, and when to give us space. Bottom line - a solid local option for food & beer with great service on this particular evening, and live music on some nights. Run of the mill brewery with basic pub food. The beer wasn't that good and my chicken salad wrap was so dry as to be almost inedible. The acoustics were awful for conversation, even the waiter had to keep saying "what?" read more

Oh hell ya! My favorite place to go for really good brews, excellent food, and a very welcoming crew. I've been visiting since they opened and never had a bad beer or meal. Of all places, it's in the heart of Gray. Tons of parking and right off the highway. Go try a flight or two and tell me I'm wrong. Thursdays is Trivia Night, and it was a lot of fun listening in to people enjoying it. I had a chili dog and my husband had a chicken wrap. Pretty good food! The pork tips for appetizer was very good - flavorful and juicy pork. Definitely recommend getting a flight of beer to try out multiple beers at the same time. What a great local spot. I'm in town visiting friends and I have a feeling we will come here every time I visit! Such a good vibe here. Friendly staff who took the time to explain a couple things to us. I think they have a brilliant thing going with their "hard water " it's on tap then you can add a flavor or mix and match multiple! I tried peach vanilla which was nice and Grapefruit was delicious. My friend enjoyed all the beers he tried. All our food was good. Nice bar food options. My roast beef sandwich was excellent! Was visiting in a nearby BnB and Yelped for the closest bars; voila! Birchwood Brewing wasn't a far drive and I was happy to have visited! They offer a small out front area to sip and chill as well as indoor seating. I was pretty exhausted from traveling and decided to grab a six pack to go. I was told they just installed the coolers and they would have more pack options soon. I went with their English Style IPA 6 pack. Have you ever tried a beer and it took you to a reminiscing daydream? The IPA was so good, it really gave me that impression without ever trying it before. It was such a feel good beer, and I am not just saying that because it's 7.2% ;-) The bartender was super cool and kind. I wish I was feeling up to staying longer because the atmosphere was very welcoming. I hope to go back! read more

Hot new spot in Gray! The space has been overhauled and looks gorgeous. There's lots of parking so don't worry about meeting a group for happy hour here. There's parking for everyone! Birchwood happens to be next to a pizza place. Menus are on the tables so I assume they deliver, and if not... It's 3 doors down. They had 4 beers on draft when I visited, a session ipa, ipa, a pale and a brown. I am bummed the beers didn't have names. A couple of people were fans of the wheat but I enjoyed the session ipa. They serve stellar looking hot salted pretzels with cheese that we unfortunately didn't try. Part of the space includes a stage area where they'll have live music. I wish the bathrooms were gender neutral or they had more stalls. Go support your local brewery! read more

Excellent brewery with good food. Went in the fall and cleared out their remaining menu for the night. The pretzels are delicious. We went back with our toddler for lunch this spring. Super delicious food again - full menu and great options. Nothing non-alcoholic except for a few sodas/juice in the cooler though. They also have an outdoor patio to hang out on. read more

Found this place on yelp while Staying at Poland Spring. Beer selections were good. We ordered the pretzels which were amazing. Nachos no meat was good however no jalapeños. Still good. I was really excited to check out this brewery in my own backyard. The renovations to the old White's Cue structure is remarkable. Friendly wait staff and comfortable environment. However......... The interior smelled like a wet dog. Really foul and overwhelming. We sat at the bar and ordered the IPA. The beer was sweet, which is uncommon for IPA beers. There were no citrus notes, no hoppy notes... just sweet. Not enjoyable at all. On par with Bud Light. Overpriced for an inferior quality beer. Sadly, I am not in any rush to return. read more

I don't love leaving bad reviews, and I really did love the interior, but the beer was barely drinkable. So, if you are looking for a cool place to hang in an area that does have a lot of options, it's definitely solid. The brewery is super clean and it's SO COOL to be able to see all the equipment right out there in the open... and the owners built it all! Have been several times and enjoy seeing new additions every time: additional taps, new art, new custom clock. Was impressed to see weekly live music schedule. Beer is great!!! Ice cold, smooth, & appreciate it is NOT "all hops, all the time." Wheat was my fave, but Numero Uno Pale is now living up to it's name is my current #1.
