I kept it light since it was late at night. The presentation was great however the flavors did not live up to it. The lechón asado even though soft, tender and the meat falling off the bone lacked flavor. Not even a sauce provided to wake up the flavor. I had a few drinks there. Super friendly staff that is honest. First thing I learned is don't get water...get a soda or bottled water. Apparently water quality is poor according to staff, however fortunately they stated kitchen is good and food as well as other beverages were good. It's not in the best area of town, because I did see people acting a little reckless not far from it, but can't say for sure. I'd not walk here. The seafood mofongo with white sauce was just what i was looking for it was a creamy almost alfredo texture but super garlicky. Chaotic ambiance but it's lawrence if you know you know. In my opinion i loved the loud music because it drowned everyone else out and you could talk about anything. read more

I am glad that GirlsNight was at this location. Food was tasty Drinks were Amazing Atmosphere was lit. I definitely enjoyed my time here, and will come again. Social distancing was minimally enforced by not allowing more than 6 ppl per table. Since I have been venturing out into this post Covid attacked World. I sometimes feel like businesses have had to figured out how to continue to thrive. Mamajuanas was not the case. Since food and drinks are up to par. People follow! Yes, I know that going out we have to be cautious. None the less, it was a weekend I came by and location was packed. As a fellow Dominican I loved being able to have a brunch at a place that feels like home on the island. The music and atmosphere are fun and comfortable and perfect for going out with a couple of friends or eating with a big group. The drinks were amazing and the food was incredible. Ate here yesterday with my wife. Food was very good and wait staff was super friendly, just a couple of issues: My wife ordered "just water" for a beverage and we were given a bottled water. Should have sent it back as it ended up being $5 and she really just wanted tap water. When the check was delivered, a 15% tip was already included and I ended up adding a 20% tip on top of that. My bad for not looking carefully at the check, but I've never seen a restaurant add a tip for parties smaller than 6 or 8 people. read more

The ambiance, food and most importantly service were all phenomenal! In my travels I have certainly learned to appreciate quality and Mamajuana's surely exemplifies quality. Ashley was amazing....she knew the menu and was able to describe dishes using verbiage that you could almost taste. The food runners were also very pleasant and accommodating. Our table was never cluttered and fresh ice and drinks were always available. I have never given a 5 star review however, Mamajuana's is a solid 5 PLUS! I like the music they played. You have the choice of indoor or outdoor dining. I sat outside because of the nice weather. I ordered paella. It was on the pricey side but I heard good things about it. Other reviews said this was a Dominican restaurant but on Yelp it was listed as Spanish. The taste of the paella was good but not spectacular. It would have been nice if it were served on a paella pan. If I go back I will order something else. The beer was ice cold. That's how I like it. read more

We were seated at 9:30 knowing the restaurant closed at 11. We ordered drinks and an app and told for our entree we can take our time but kitchen closes at 10:20. It was 9:45 at this point. At 9:55 our appetizers come out and we are ready to order our entree. As we were going to order, we were told that the manger wants to inform us that they will no longer take orders. I was in total disbelief as it wasn't even 10 and we were told to "take our time". We decided to leave and not touch a thing, appetizers or drinks. This is my second time going to this place. First time was last summer when they opened. Same thing happened. So I decided to give them another try. The problem I had was the bill, I asked the server what the card svc charge was and he thought it was a tax or something he wasn't sure so he got the manager for me. This lady tried to tell me that the are apart of a cash advance program where the list a cash price and if you wanna go buy with a card there is a service charge. This is ridiculous me and my friend split the bill so for 2 people we spent 150 and your going to tell me that your going to charge me 3% to use a debit card which small business dont even get charged a fee that's crazy. I told the lady I have never heard of a payment process company charging for a debit card. I asked her has she seen this before she said yes. I said can you name me one restaurant in Lawrence that does this she said Carlos bakery ironically the bakery across the street. Clearly she just looked and and said that place and she said nail salons and corner stores! CORNER STORE HAVE A 10 DOLLAR MINIMUM AND THERE IS NO FEE WE JUST SPENT 150$ ON DINNER. The service fee for us was double of what you saw on the bill because we split it . Crazy clearly the owner is trying to skim on his taxes and report much less revenue. Cmon man get with the program no sit down restaurants from merrimac valley to boston charge to use a debit card stop trying to take advantage of other people to make a quick buck! Just one Dominican trying to take advantage of other Dominicans in this community. Just do what ever other restaurant in this country does and raise the entree prices $1...not like there is even a fee they are really paying. Owner drives a Maserati probably owns it from scamming his customers. In any event they lost any future business no chance I will be booking any bottle service at their nightclub. The spot is not on the best neighborhood, the wait is long for the food or the waitress to come. We decided to try out mamajuana for Father's Day to stay local. Upon arriving the security guard was great, walked me through the process of using our masks (thanks COViD), payment process, etc. When we say down it took out waiter about 15 mins to finally get to us, super nice guy! We placed our drink orders and shortly after our food orders. We maybe saw the waiter 2 times after that. One to place more drinks the other to update us on how backed up they were which is why the food was taking long. Totally fine. We then reached the hour mark (after ordering), still no food... we ask the owner what was up, all we ordered was appetizers so it shouldn't take so long. As soon as we asked the food arrived. C O L D. So so cold. Obviously at this point we're frustrated. We sat down at 7:35 DIDNT get our food till 9:30... 2 hours. For appetizers. To get them cold. Now, not only did we get our food cold, but what I ordered they apparently didn't have. Now I wouldn't have gotten mad if the waiter had told me that when I placed my order, or even 15 mins after, but a whole hour and a half after I ordered my food he tells me they ran out of it????? Long story long, that's the last time I will be dining at Mamajuana. Such a terrible experience!!! read more

I really wanted to like this place but so many things was disappointing. First the service was so slow I finished my drinks and still no food. Second when the food did arrive it was so overcook. We did outdoor dining and the Mosquitoes were on another level..( no torches)..bugs EVERYWHERE!!! the service was so super slow and extremely expensive for what we got.. dont get the Cebiche it comes with nothing at all on the side ( no tostones, no fries, NADA ).. The waitress had no idea what she was doing!! The next door neighbor had competing music to that of the restaurant's which was so disruptive. Whenever we complained to the staff their reply was " we have never gotten a complainy".. they did nothing to remedy the bad situation. The drinks were so bad and they would not refund the cost. My wife and I plus friends went here and Wow we where blown away by the warm professional vibe from the moment we walked in. We have eaten in Dubai,San Francisco Dominican Republic etc in our travels and the experience here was just as good. Our waitress was wonderful very helpful and kind/attentive with our questions. Been here once and had an excellent meal and drinks. I would give 5 stars, but there are no vegetarian options on the menu. As a vegetarian, I had to ask if there was a way I could be accommodated. They prepared me an amazing vegetarian plantain pizza! It was wonderful! I just wish they had a vegetarian option already on the menu. Our server never checked up on us, had to flag her down at all times for at least water refills. This place was beyond my expectations. The service was excellent. Food was delicious especially those calamari's wow!!! To die for. I went on my birthday with a party of 15. The drinks were great. Must try the raspberry mojito!!! I don't even like mojitos because the places I had tried it before like Terra Luna and Attika were awful. Must go and try!!! I love the different options of food so different from all the other places from Lawrence. I highly recommend it. Have been going often ever since.
