Anyways, we bought this house and had it inspected and everything else we were supposed to do, which wasn't cheap FYI. The Inspector-guy checked out the fireplace even (which is gas). We go through the whole moving process which we all know can be a nightmare. I go to do a once over the house while my partner took a shower. I came to the fireplace and I flicked the switch, and... Nothing! I couldn't believe it so i flicked it back off, and then on again. This time i heard it sparking, but still nothing lit. To make a long story short, we were talking to the neighbor and they told us to call CoVa Gas Fireplace Repair. Well at first that sounded a lot like a certain virus we all know but she repeated CoVa Gas Fireplace and I just shrugged (we are from Texas where there is no Gas Fireplaces. I am used to the run-around service companies can give you but i must say that from the beginning, CoVa Gas Fireplace Repair was probably the best service company experience I have EVER had! The were so courteous, polite, and professional. They laid out how their service works, exactly how much it is, and didnt hide their price or alienate me in any way. They listened to what i had to say and within a week they were at my house and did such a great job on the fireplace. They explained EVERYTHING, and even made sure i was comfortable turning it off and on. I will be calling this company for the fireplaces annual service. They could charge twice as much and i still would. you can't put a price on piece of mind or safety, and Cova Gas Fireplace Repair provides both of those services... and gas fireplace service too

BEWARE: We hired Johnston's for a chimney inspection and cleaning, we were told by our technician…read morethat we had glazed (Stage 3) creosote buildup -- but were advised to simply keep using the fireplace and burn hot fires to reduce it. After research and hiring a CSIA certified company, we learned this advice is directly contrary to established safety guidance. Stage 3 creosote is highly flammable and requires chemical treatment or professional removal before a fireplace can be safely used again. The Chimney Safety Institute of America is explicit on this point. Following Johnston's guidance in our report could have caused a chimney fire. We requested a refund given that the inspection included advice that put our home and family at risk, they refuse to acknowledge their fault. We did not feel we received an accurate or professional service. We will be sure to look for that CSIA certification going forward, there are plenty of family owned-- in business for decades, chimney companies in our area that can be relied on to give safe and accurate advice.

I told him to just reimburse me the money and he said he would have "the girl who does their bookkeeping" send me a check. I had a serious issue in which my converted garage family room was several degrees colder in the winter and approx that many hotter in the summer because my unused chimney was sucking air from the room up through the chimney out into the atmosphere. They efficiently demolished my chimney and bricked up the wall where the chimney had been. They did a spectacular job, and I can already tell a significant difference. The price was excellent as well, considering how difficult the job was to complete. I intend to use them in the future for any other masonry work I might require, and I highly recommend them to anyone for their chimney needs. They do excellent work demolishing chimneys!

I did not experience anything like those reviews and I do recommend them. July 2020 I contacted Premier Chimney and Roofing to come sweep and inspect my chimney. I had learned about them in a local advertisement mailer. I read the good things about them in online reviews. I had a pleasant conversation with them in scheduling the appointment. The technician came out, swept, inspected, and showed me before and after pictures of his work. He showed all the cracks in my tiles and took the time to explain what my options were to fix it and the severe risks of continuing to use the fireplace. We scheduled to have Premier re-line and re-cap my chimney. They explained Heatshield, the product chosen to re-line it. During the winter, my wife noticed water coming down the chimney through our wood burning insert. Premier was dealing with a temporary COVID related shutdown and I had to use another company for the fix. Matthew, Premier's owner, wanted to see the job through; wanted to make it right. He didn't hesitate to review the work order and reimburse for the work his company would have come out to redo. That's good business. I will definitely use Premier in the future for my chimney needs.
