I bought my gas fireplace from this company about three years ago. Since then the gas logs have…read morebeen Serviced annually, per the manufacturers, and G.F.R's recommendation for maintenance. I have to be honest, at first i thought that sounded made up, but I talked to the manufacture and it really should be serviced that frequently. Now I'm known for being the type of person that stands over people and ask "hey you need more light?" now I'm really asking that so I can actually see better, because I'm nosey, lol... Anyway's I ask him and he quickly and softly but with a deep voice says "no, I'm fine; thank you anyways..." i just blurt out UH-HUH and he looked back at me with the funniest facial expression and just held it there for about 20 second, Longest 20 seconds of my life haha. all of a sudden i felt an immense amount of laughter about to erupt... it did., I swear i almost died laughing. So was the technician. Before he left i asked him what possessed him to do that and he said "probably my meds wearing off" and we both almost died laughing again. it was a riot. He always was funny but this time he just really made me laugh hysterically. i can't wait for next year!

We never say never, and we never leave a unit taken apart. You may wonder why we have a 5 hour window. It's because our gas fireplace repair technicians don't really ever know how labor intensive a gas log fireplace insert can be. No two appointments are alike. So with that in mind we say a 5 hour window and a phone call roughly an hour before the technician heads your way, is quite useful in freeing up your day instead of sitting around waiting for someone to show up.

Very rarely in my 68 yrs of life have I done business with a company like Black Goose Chimney…read more From the owner Sergey Gardner to the workers in employ, I have never interacted with a group more professional, friendley, informative, polite and hard working than this group. I had a serious issue in which my converted garage family room was several degrees colder in the winter and approx that many hotter in the summer because my unused chimney was sucking air from the room up through the chimney out into the atmosphere. They efficiently demolished my chimney and bricked up the wall where the chimney had been. They did a spectacular job, and I can already tell a significant difference. The price was excellent as well, considering how difficult the job was to complete. I intend to use them in the future for any other masonry work I might require, and I highly recommend them to anyone for their chimney needs. They do excellent work demolishing chimneys!

What arrived at my home were two guys who by their own admission knew nothing about gas fireplaces / inserts, could not answer any questions and were only there to take pictures and get rough measurements. They informed me I would receive a quote by the end of the day or the following morning at the latest. Hard to provide a quote when no decision was made as to which type/style/brand of unit was ever discussed. It has been a week and the only thing I have received is an email stating the work has been completed and asking me for a review.

I called this company for a diagnostic repair because my gas fireplace was not working. From the…read morestart, I pointed out that I suspected the pilot light assembly was the issue, since it is a common failure point. Two technicians came out and told me the entire fireplace needed to be replaced due to rust, quoting approximately $4,000. As an engineer who works on ships, I am very familiar with the difference between cosmetic rust and structural failure. The rust present was clearly superficial and did not justify replacing the entire unit. I decided to get a second opinion from another company, and they confirmed the problem was the pilot light assembly. They repaired and cleaned the fireplace for under $600, and the unit now works perfectly. I highly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to major replacements, as this diagnosis could have resulted in thousands of dollars in unnecessary costs.

I feel compelled to share my experience with Coastal Chimney & Contracting regarding a $3,500 gas…read moreinsert fireplace installation project. Their technician/project bidder, Adam, was polite and initially responsive. He was actually the primary reason I chose them over lower-bid competitor (Keithans Gas and Chimney Services) The scheduling process has been extremely disappointing. Timeline of events: Initial contact: December 9, 2024 Current date: February 22, 2025 5 canceled/rescheduled appointments Multiple no-show instances without prior notification The most frustrating aspects have been: Repeated requests to confirm appointments that were subsequently canceled No proactive communication about cancellations Being redirected between various "divisions" despite being a small company Having to take multiple days off work for appointments that never occurred While I understand weather conditions and unexpected situations can affect scheduling - I want them to be safe and understand some project need to bye dry. But the lack of basic communication and professional courtesy is unacceptable for a company. I've missed days of work to sit at my house waiting for them to show up. As a potential customer, you should be prepared for: Extensive delays - there's always someone else they have to schedule first Poor communication - Adam gave me his business card but his voicemail box is full and doesn't return calls or text The need to constantly follow up even though they send confirmations and then just say they were mistakenly sent. The quality of their work may be excellent, but I cannot speak to that as I'm still waiting for the project to begin after more than two months of scheduling attempts. Here's a copy of the appointments and quote - hopefully this saves someone a headache like we are going through.
